Why do everybody do 50% speed in first sector 1.lap? Try 75 or something.
Sorry for the mess redwing!

When I hit the esses on the first lap I'm usually just short of switching up to 3rd where I usually would, on account of having to take t1/2 really slowly to avoid mass destruction. After that I'm never quite where I need to be revs-wise, right up to dunlop with the choice being too much understeer into the esses in 3rd or plenty revs but short of juice in second.

Couple this with the fact that there's a massive concertina going on if you're anywhere other than first place and it's advisable to drive with just a little caution. And it's not 50% speed, my cold start lap is normally between 2-4 seconds slower than the rest of them. I'm not pythagoras but I'm sure that's less than half :sly:

Hey Bollocks, great driving. Can you give me a pointer? Was there one place I seemed to be slow, or just all around?

Looks like that is at me uk86? sorry if I'm mixed up here but it looks like a double meaning post to me and which one to take :P

I reckon people are just a bit hyper after the excitement of finding out their divisions. Plus theres probably some that feel they should be in higher divisions and feel they have something to prove when racing the ones in the divisions above them.

Hell, I made more than a few avoidable errors that caused problems for others and similarly I've been on the receiving end from other GTP'ers too... it happens. I'm sure there is no malice intended, but there is no denying that things out on track today were a bit rougher than usual even among us lot. It'll settle down soon I reckon.

hmmmm what about those in higher divisions trying to prove to those in lower divisions, that they are there for a reason...
Basically thats a load of crap, i only know a couple of my friends divisional status and thats it, like me, others probably have a bump or two at the beginning, get the heart pumping and push there car, and why not, i see so called respected/know drivers bumping, shoving being impolite on track, i think why the bloody hell should i hold back...yet i do within reason...for now

Mr P I don't know what happened in the hairpin? Looked like a huge lag and then I suddenly saw you next to me and then on the grass/sand. Waited on the backsterch but then on the next lap saw you still there not moving.. Sorry if I hit you. :nervous:

My race then which Doctorben won, was fairly clean. Im quite proud of myself, not for coming second due to GTP_Bollox unfortunate trip in the sand chasing down DoctorBen but for my ability to know which drivers i can rely on to go side by side round a corner with, unlike Bennant who through the esses i just knew if i did not brake even though i was on the inside this guy would more than likely push me off as he wanted to hug the corner...i was right, he hugged the corner where i should have been if not for my knowledge of those who are fully 360degree aware and those who are not

Ummm, I'm sorry, I remember the "indecent" you are describing. I was well ahead of you and it's my right to take the tight line, the correct line through the esses. It's not a place you should be passing anyone to begin with, especially on the inside.

I race with the bumper-cam view and do use my right and left, but when I'm in front and it's my line I don't need to move over for anyone.

I can remember two incidents today along where you punted me into the sand and I remembering having issue with you and your old screenname.

After racing today I'm thinking this entire "GTP_" tag thing is pointless. It doesn't seem like it matters in anyway. Maybe the tricks aren't as dirty (in most cases) but there is still no knowledge of racing etiquette and driving line... not too mention car control or being able to pick places to pass.

FYI - Suzuka only has 2-3 corners where one can actually pass cleanly if they have set it up ahead of time. Not every corner is a passing area. More people need to learn that.

I'll be joining you guys at xx.02, with a HSR tuned Vette (with less 50 PP :D ) and I'll experiment settings. Sorry for any inconvenience, I'll try to stay out of your way ...

I say chaps.
There's an awful lot of aggravation on here tonight.
There's gonna be a fight soon, I can feel it building :nervous:

You all got shares in HBOS or something?

FYI, lap 1 of 5, im in front through esses on the inside you came up to me on outside in your lotus, obviously like most Lotus drivers they feel they can go inside or outside pass someone but i had the feeling you wanted to go through me.

Also amazed at how you wait till i complain about the way you drove before saying i bumped you off twice before, never said anything to me, if i take someone out by accident i wait, if i do it on purpose which i do at times, it's because they are an asshole who either took me out or someone i know

Good race Synwraith and zoag...we almost got doctorben on that one! I put a wheel off when I started really reeling him in...oh well. It's even worse that he starts at the front of the pack with his 748PP

Same to you mate, didn't half give me a scare when you and Szoag showed up behind me! Yeah I was following Doctorben from the start and got so close, so damn close...I've got absolutely nothing for him out of the hairpin up to spoon. I think we all made some mistakes chasing him because we want to beat him so bad and smack his disrespectful hide back into the 00-15-30-45 event. I tell you what though, if he thought this event was for the slower folk who couldn't keep up with the GTLMs, at least he knows better now.

And tuning it to 748 for the pole position shows an incredible lack of class, and to me seems a little antagonistic. At least FAK_EV1L has the decency to start anywhere and when he wins you can do nothing but take your hat off to stellar driving.

GTP_szoag, I thought I was fast in the esses, you were amazing through there. Although I noticed when you got ahead, I would catch up. Ah well, draft + RBE = back and forth racing I guess. I don't know if I hit you onto the grass and stole your win that last race, if so I apologise, and I owe you one.

Also excellent performances from GTP_L_Hamilton in the Mine's,and GTP_Wanna_B in his serious black vette (or was it the missus?) ;)

Also was pleased to see tameturtle[NL] back at Suzuka, he was fantastic in his Ford GT.

All the best
Maz (Synwraith)

The only reason I'd try to pass on the outside in the esses is when traffic is bottled up in front of me and much slower. As a "lotus driver", which I'm really not today is the first time I've ever driven the car, I found that often I'm pushed to the outside in the esses by heavier cars behind me or just from having no where else to go due to the speed difference. Making a pass stick on the outside in the esses is very hard to do and rarely will I try to make it stick. I don't remember going on the outside of you and then cutting infront of you under my own power. I could have been pushed there, but it's not something I would do normally.

I will huge the inside like and use the curbs though in the esses always and if I'm in front I won't move over...

Well like i say, i had the inside you came up to my outside, side view showed me this and i knew i had to brake to let you get closer to the inside as i felt if i did not, i'd be on the grass

Anyhow, yours was just an example a mild example, i've seen worse, fortunately we rarely race at the same time, bye

Doubtful. I won't pass someone on the outside and put them in the grass, not intentionally at least, which is why I will rarely try to make a pass on the outside stick.

Sausage, don't fret. That was awesome dogfighting with ya!

Cheers Tzayad
I didn't notice any contact but saw you'd gone off there, so I thought I'd wait just in case - what with the lag and everything you're not quite sure what's going on sometimes...
Anyway, great stuff 👍

OK OK OK, i made it all up, you never ever ever tried to pass me on the outside, I'm full of ****

How about you cut a little slack for those who don't possess your level of experience. GTP does not mean Elite Racers only. A lot of people here, I'd expect, will be relatively new to online racing and maybe not quite up to speed with the do's and dont's. I've been playing GT since the first one and consider myself an okay driver but online took a bit of getting used to. It's not just knowing how to perform an overtake or where the best line for your particular car and driving style is, it's knowing what you can do, what the limits are and that comes with trial and error.

And even then, there's no one here, right down to - Best of the Best of the best - Timppaq (I'll stake my best friend's reputation on it) that hasn't made a bad call and screwed it up completely, at least a couple of times, ever. So please, I respectfully ask you to lighten up. We may take it a bit more seriously than most folks but it still is just a game. No one actually gets hurt.

Lies, damn lies and, yes there's the 2-3 thing - statistics!

In general there are only 2-3 clean passing places but these are different for different cars overtaking different cars. Then you factor in the car in front going into something too hot and cooking the line and you have the opportunity to overtake. I'd say there's pretty much 101 different spots on that track I've made a clean, fast overtake stick without damaging the other driver over and above the emotional turmoil that scaring the crap out of him beforehand caused.

I've also completely murdered some poor sod at all 101 (plus a couple that I don't use anymore) because I thought I could get away with it. It happens. It happens to me and I happen to other people. It's not malicious. That's what GTP is all about - fairplay.

Oh and one final word - "Lag" Learn how playing a game, against people from the other side of the world, over a very busy network infrastructure differs from being on a real racetrack. A lot of times you will be hit and the person doing the hitting won't register. It wasn't them it was the ping!

Wow Reverse and Geez, THAT WAS AWESOME!

Yea sausage, you got me at the 2nd apex of Spoon. You spooned me. :)

Lot of lag on the xx:02 one. At first turn GTP_Hun, GTP_MJH and me were involved on an accident and I really don't know what happened, just a zig zag of lag

+1
Happened to me tonight. I got flamed, and I'm thinking "WHAT????".
OK now though - we've had a cuddle and we're fine again.
As you say, nobody got hurt.

Really great points there P3nt4gram, lag is one of the biggest contributors to accidental contact. I've raced with you a few times, your bloody quick but very fair and clean and you're right about experience level. I mean this is the first online racing version of Gran Turismo ever. It is a learning curve for everyone. It's important for people to try to be fair, but most importantly to try to have fun first and foremost. None of us are getting paid to play this game, it's just a game.

BTW: I'm firing up my PS3 now. Looking forward to joining you fine folks. See you at the next :32... network permitting.

Bollocks...sorry for the nudging you at Casio. I was trying to go on the inside and didn't really have anywhere to go. I waited for you afterwards but you remained stopped for whatever reason. Great racing though!

Dont worry about it

That was a great race Sausages. Fantastic defensive drive into turn 1 on the 4th lap, you knew what was coming didn't you lol. Not sure what happened on the last chicane tho, sorry for nudging you at 130r before that.
