The Championships
This will be a 11 race series. All races count, however, points equal to last place in class will be awarded for up to two missed races.
There are separate Pro, Am, and Team Pro/Am championships. Teams are not mandatory .
If you wish to attend individual races, you are welcome but entry priority is given to Championship participants.
Teams will be comprised of two drivers and will be Pro/Am from any car class.
A driver may compete in either class regardless of his rating. I.E. Pro can race Gr3 and Am can race in GT500. The organizer reserves the right to alter driver ratings as necessary.
Drivers score points in their designated class regardless of class of car driven.
Points
Points will be awarded as follows
1st 100
2d 85
3d 75
4th 65
5th 55
6th 45
7th 40
8th 35
9th 30
10th 25
11th 20
12th 15
13-16th 10
Points for DC will be the same as the last in class finisher.
Point penalty for quitting ( same as last finisher +5) with the exception of a “ force majeure”.( which which means "I'm so far back"or "I'm so mad" quits, etc. are NOT "Force Majeure". Force majeure is a household emergency , going to hospital, avoiding spousal conflict, an equipment failure etc.).
Drivers need to be rated in the easiest possible way.. perhaps test race weekend? ( we have to test the whole thing anyway). There are many drivers with known abilities that immediately put them in their proper class. And we, the IRS, have a rating system that will be of help, but mostly it's common sense.
.
Championship unique elements
Mandatory 5 min pit stop (in all races over 90 minutes in length).
Procedure:Enter pits, touch nothing. When elapsed timer in the upper right hits 5 min you hit the appropriate button to start your stop. If you leave early you will pit next lap and complete the stop.
Causing a collision. If you, through contact or car placement, cause another driver to have an accident causing damage that requires him to pit for repairs, YOU WILL follow him to the pits, make a pit stop, and then, upon exiting the pits, wait for him to finish his pit stop and repairs, allow him to pass, and, then, resume racing.
Start and Room Procedures
If there is only one room, qualification will be 45 min before race start and will last 25 minutes. Specific instructions will be forthcoming.
If entry dictates multiple rooms, Classes will qualify in separate rooms, and then Hosts will recombine rooms and advise drivers as to which room they are in.
If, (as in, be careful what you wish for), the entry is overwhelming, we will all go hide in the ladies room...
. Actually if this happens we will be forced to hold qualifying sessions prior to race day and combine the results and post rooms as we did in previous WRS and IRS major races.
Rolling start with formation lap during which classes will separate. At the Ring and Le Mans there will be a set "Acceleration Zone" where the race may start after classes are split.
Classes may be combined into Gr3 if the room does not have 12 drivers. If there are not enough upper class cars to “race” ( 4 or more) classes will be combined.
Additional rooms will be created if there are 20 or more drivers present or 40 or more drivers present. Room split will be odd/even by grid order to insure a modicum of symmetry . Full points will be be awarded for all rooms with 8 or more drivers. Any room with less than 8 will score 70% points.
Communication in races
We will use a separate Discord channel for each room until Sony issues forth with the 16 room chat. Channels will be posted here before our first race.
More as it develops. We will hold shorter races in late July, and August to look at the drivers and work out the kinks. Looking to a Mid Sept launch that does not conflict with other non weekly series here and in Europe.
