IRS | Toyota 86 Racing Series | Mondays 9p EST | BIG FINALE TONIGHT: Dragon Trail - Seaside II

Had a lot of fun last night. Was cool to meet some new faces and everyone drove great. I am flummoxed at how I was unable to control this car, on paper it should be an easy car to drive. Maybe I am just too used to the race cars with downforce at this point. Either way that was fun.

i struggled too especially with braking points it felt like i could get a grasp on it at all, I was either braking way to late or way to soon. Completely different car from what drove there Tuesday night.

Do you guys know that you don't have to keep the hood and trunk as carbon fiber? You can put a decal over it and paint that your body color. I'm looking at a replay and every car has the dark hood and trunk. Do you all want it that way to look racey or something or were just working with you had, not knowing the best way to cover it?

Yeah that was it for me too. I tend to find a rhythm and repeat my laps pretty consistently in most situations but last night every lap, every turn was different. One time I would understeer hopelessly off the track and the next time my tires would bite and turn in too soon and I could never trust what the car would do when I approached a turn.

I was almost too nervous to be near anyone. I thought maybe my DS4 was the issue but if the wheel guys agree then I’m stumped. In the Scirocco Tuesday I was almost on autopilot, I made mistakes here and there but it was clearly something I did wrong. Last night I wasn’t even sure if I was in control of the car at times or if it was doing things on its own. It was a weird experience.

I'm thinking you may want to check your math DP. I am coming up with some different numbers regarding points.
If I understand correctly, the points are broken down as such:

  • 1st - 25 points
  • 2nd - 23 points
  • 3rd - 20 points
  • 4th - 18 points
  • 5th - 15 points
  • 6th - 12 points
  • 7th - 10 points
  • 8th - 9 points
  • 9th - 8 points
  • 10th - 7 points
  • 11th - 6 points
  • 12th - 5 points
  • 13th - 4 points
  • 14th - 3 points
  • 15th - 2 points
  • 16th - 1 point

A season consists of 4 weeks, with only the top 3 scores counting towards championship. The spreadsheet I have been keeping indicates a different point totals for some. (Scores in red not included for those that ran all 4 weeks).

Season 2.PNG

Take me as an example. I ran 3 races and scored 24, 24 and 27 points respectively. That totals 75 points, but you have me with 90 points? Where or how did I pick up the extra 15 points?
A few others have discrepancies as well.
You've got some funny math going on. You may want to go back and check your results.

Series Announcement
Thank you all for coming out!!

Season 2 is in the books and a big congratulations to @WhiteFlight1!! It seemed like a bit of a runaway but @Herimopp89 stayed consistent and never let him take it easy. There were great battles all the way down the field. Nobody was safe from a bad week if their rival was keeping up the pace. Close racing all around. Just what we were aiming for. I couldn't have asked for more.

Past
Throughout the season discussions were constantly happening behind the scenes into how we can further improve the series. A decision was made to reduce tire wear and now it's easier to race side by side without worry of tire management for the entire race. Big improvement.

Present
We have also decided to make a change to the race format. Each week we will now run three (3) 15 minute races set to a number of laps. The first two race formations will be the same, reverse grid championship points and reverse grid. Race 3 will be a reverse grid race as well.

We have also gained back some sponsorship. The following details the new (and current) decal placement requirements:
  • Two Dunlop decals on the front bumper and on the rear bumper
  • The 86 Racing Series decal must be placed on the top Front fenders next to the door
  • OZ Racing decal placement and style is up to you
  • Toyota decal placement and style is up to you
  • Racing number placed on the front and rear license plates
  • Racing number placed under the 86 Racing Series decal
Future
Currently in development is a slick tire compound. Racing Hard tires are being tested for Season 3, possibly Season 4 depending on how much testing needs to be done. We will be starting Season 3 promptly with no break week so get ready and tell all your friends to be there on December 12th at 9pm EST!

I messaged you. Let's take it private to not flood the thread with our back and forth.

Edit: You didn't respond yet but I double checked all the math with a calculator. Maybe I shouldn't do it in my head right after the race lol. Nobody has changed positions but some scores have changed ever so slightly. The scoresheet on the first page had been updated to show the proper numbers.

Race 1 replay.

Great stuff those last few laps!

I have updated the first post with the new decal info as well as a video clip of a rotating car showing the placement requirements. If anything isn't 100% clear please let me know.

You should set up formulas in Excel to perform the math functions. This way you don't have to do it in your head or on a calculator.
I offered once before and I'll offer again...I can keep the score on the excel spreadsheet I built. It has all of the formulas set up, so I just plug in results and Excel does the calculations.

Consider yourself officially hired. 👍

Does it not hit the limiter at monza

Streets of Willow...that’s one I’ll be passing on. I hate that track. Lol
You should join anyway and compete for not-last-place with me and probably some others. Better to get some points and bank a week just in case life comes up or worse, a crash takes you out in another week.

Blame me when Monza turns out to be an epic race.

It's going to be very difficult to break away and even if someone does the other racers can use team work (leapfrogging).

I’ll be there. You’re right, some points are better than no points

Boy no one likes my streets of willow pick...all in all looks like a great balance of racing 2 technical tracks and 2 fast tracks

Monza will be epic for sure! Shame i probably won't be able to race. Northern Isle i actually wish for, I think it would be a blast tbh. But that's not my call :sly:
