IRS | Toyota 86 Racing Series | Mondays 9p EST | BIG FINALE TONIGHT: Dragon Trail - Seaside II

Just as a heads up, due to my work schedule I will unfortunately be unable to participate in today’s race. Hope it’s a good race for all though!

I'll be there. Haven't done a lick of practice. Not one lap. Should be fun.
Sounds like me every week
Guys happen to have room for another and I was glancing through here not much for rules if I can get the basics
You're more than welcome to join in this week. Feel free to ask any questions about rules or anything else. Only mandatory things are the livery decals and being a clean racer.

We will be using a public lobby from now on so I can promote the series. It's great that we can have up to 62 characters now. This gives me room for the tinyurl and a "sign up now" type message.

As far as being a clean racer there are a few that can vouche for that any specific settings or anything I should know
The car settings and decal placement locations are all in the first post. Just a heads up, we don't use fuel mapping. Can't really think of anything else off the top of my head.

Since Race 1 grid is set by reverse championship points, those without points will be starting up top, in order of when they signed up.

Starting next week we will be switching to a lap based race format. Currently, Race 1 last night ended with WhiteFlight1 crossing the line, me having to do another lap and running dry, but Clean Racer behind me getting the checkered flag. I started the lap with 0.2 fuel left and was worrying about losing my position, not knowing who was still racing or not. I don't want this to ever happen to anyone. I will also be incorporating the slightly lower lap count for Race 2. This means you can drive flat out and not worry about running out but can also stretch it a little if your race situation requires it.

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
Race 1: 10 Laps
Race 2: 18 Laps

Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to voice them. I'm here for you.

@WhiteFlight1 just quickly going over the points (if week 3 would be our drop week) I would need to win both races at Barcelona (which i highly doubt would happen) to win the championship. This is the best points battle I have had in while.

Last night I kept over driving the car except for the last couple laps in the 40 mins race where I might have been able to pass clean racer and dp had i not got over anxious and go into that turn hot.

I guess a lot of practice is in store for me for next week.

Barcelona would be another story I believe, I don't feel comfortable at that track yet. Tbh I didn't feel too comfortable at Yamagiwa either, screwing up the chicane time and time again!

I was actually toying with the idea of a no stopper, which is why I had a pretty big margin when I disconnected. But I would have had to go in for fuel eventually though. I guess with a really flat track it could possibly have worked.

Yea I got a wheel a couple weeks ago and having a hard time adjusting to it I am getting there but for some reason last night I kept making stupid mistakes like dropping a tire off in the grass and spin out

Series Announcement

I am currently open to suggestions for what you would like to see the series do going forward.

One thing I am thinking about is race lengths. Originally we wanted a longer "main race" to justify a race with a mandatory pit stop, but that longer race may be keeping new members at bay. The change would be to make all races 20 minute lap races, but should there be three to keep the same amount of race time or is that too much to ask of people. Just two?

Another change that will be implemented involves the required decal placement. I dialed it down from the original but I'm going to bring that back to keep some uniformity among the group, as well as a sense of realism. This will start in Season 3 and will have a proper announcement post as well as an edited Post #1. For those new to the series, all it means is your number decal also under the 86 Racing Series logo and default Dunlop decals under the front and rear lights.

I think if you do 3 lap races (times to approximately 15 minutes each) that would maybe draw some interest. 15 minute races with a 5 minute break between. I think that would offer up greater flexibility and allow people some options.
I like the idea of getting back to the decal placement as well.
