Is 20 different Skyline too many?

I'm always in the camp of i'd rather have 1561651 skylines than just 1. It really is about the car encyclopedia philosophy in my opinion. Yeah even though there are some tiny difference it's all about being truthful to what's out there.

Ahh well i'm just rambling too much these days :D

One Skyline from every significant year would be enough.
By significant I mean the car has had to have undergo some change like from R30 to R35 and not have about 20 different variations.

With a robust livery editor and enough upgrade and tuning options people could literally create many of those Skylines by altering one of the other models.

OHHHHHHHH....because the site said so. Did you even watch the review? The Ford GT with the stripe is counted as 1 and the one without the stripe is counted as another. If not then it would be in the same slot with an option to choose different color variations. It counts as 2 different models.

Ofcourse, just because GameTrailers say so it is right! Even through the developers official site says something else, GT is wrong.

My apologies :)

As you read this, take in mind that I'm not a huge Skyline fan, just a fan of all cars in general.

I'm glad GT4 had plenty of Skylines, and wish even more would make into GT5. It adds life to the game. I have a blast comparing V-Specs to Nurs, GTSs to GT-Rs, R33s to R34s, etc., etc.. Must games only give you the 'creme of the crop' models, and that is plain boring. I mean what is more fun, beating a Golf GTI with a Golf GTI, or beating a Golf GTI with a Golf GL? Besides, what trim level you like, might not be the trim level I like, so it gives us more of a variety.
👍

2 Quality posts I agree with. 👍

I don't think you need to have all the Skylines ever made. I would be happy with the following:

Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R
Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R V-Spec
Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II
Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec Nurburgring
Nissan GT-R R35

+ mine's, v-spec (R35), amuse ...

you know just the R34 Skyline GT, GT-T and GTR are already 3 very different cars right?

20 different Skyline is not too many, if you have only one or two of each model!!

2000GT-X ... R30, R31, R32 . . . R35!

:dunce:

The official website isn't wrong. You just interpreted it wrong. ;) Who am I going to believe? Some guy who hasn't even touched the game yet let alone play it or someone who has played the game and did a review on it? Thanks for playing!

They did, and so have many... cars are released as DLC.

So after all that, I understand you love Gran Turismo. Why complain? I know you are responding to the thread, but it is not a good enough reason to complain about 1 of the 2 games you have bought.

What about this POV- Advertising 1000 cars causes GT5 to sells more copies. Thus, PD has more funds to invest into Tourist Trophy 2, or even GT6.
The point- If they do something to GT5 that you dont agree with, but it is for the greater good of the series, you think it is still ok to complain about that feature? Certainly not.

edit- Take the PSP discussion to the PSP forum.

I'm not bothered about having over 20 Skylines... I'm bothered about the fact PD says the game has 1000 cars, just to find out there's a large number of them being Skylines, Imprezas, Lancer Evolutions, etc. :grumpy:
Thus, to me, that number is highly manipulated. Yes, there are 1000 cars, but if most of them are variations of the same car I will never use, I don't find it to be a good thing.

Each color counts as one of the 4500 color combinations. There are 800 cars, which make up to those 4500 combinations. The 4 Ford GTs are 4 of those 4500.

Have fun playing!

800 indeed ;)

It all depends on, if you like Skylines! And i don't mind if there is 20 or not. Because out of the thousand cars, there will be at least five hundred i really like!!👍:sly:

Is it really that hard to understand? One model has a stripe and you can change the colors of the car and stripes. Another model doesn't have a stripe and you can change the color of that also. TWO separate models, each with their own color variations within the 4500+. That video doesn't prove that the striped and unstriped Ford GT is ONE model. ;)

The video does indicate that there are a total of 4500 car/color combinations. There is one car model, the Ford GT. It has several versions (striped, non-striped).

You act as though it's unthinkable that there could be two nearly identical cars in a GT game that are indeed counted as two different cars. O_o

We'll just wait until the game comes out and see for ourselves. Fair enough? No point in going back and forth because neither of us have played the game and neither will give in. Let's just hope that Ford will be one of the first of the 4 manufacturers a day to show up.

-> Hmm, if 20 Skyline/GT-R are bad enough for the people here; here's what:

-> What if that would be the same thing with ALL of the Mustang's, Falcon's, Commodore's, Camaro's, and Corvette's (with ALL special editions, generations, trim level, etc.). :indiff:

-> Want proof? Just click on my sig. There are 3-4 times as many variations of the cars that I mentioned above compared to the JDM marques. :indiff:

-> I think this is the 5th thread in the GT5 forums (in which I replied to all of them) that involves any rants regarding multiple variations of Skyline/GT-R/Evo/STi/RX-7...and threads like this sickens me. :indiff:

Personally, I would rather get multiple variations of those cars instead of Skylines. But objectively, and knowing other people don't like them, I would remain the same: they would be too many variations. I don't want other people to dislike the car list in GT just so I'm happy with it.

You too probably have a car you like in the game that most of the players couldn't care less.

When PD goes the extra lenght to deliver such a stunning amount of cars, they are giving different people what they want. One player will never experience all the cars, but the more cars PD put in the game, the bigger the chance a car he likes will be in it. More games get sold, more people get pleased.

your argueing with yourself. are you saying there sould be that many skylines or that more "other" cars should be included?

So you're saying you'll never use any skyline's, impreza's or evo's? I'm sorry to say but those cars are really popular with a lot of people. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion obviously but if you want you can just look at it this way. When the full games is released just count how many versions of skyline's, impreza's and evo's are in the list, count all of them as just one and then you can just refer to it as "x numbers of cars" in the end minus those and be done with that. In the end, all that matters is that you have cars you enjoy and you'll get plenty of enjoyment out of the game!

Man, I'm really into those long long answers these days.

I think he's saying that "Skyline, Super Purple" shouldnt be a car in the car count.

That is where I have the problem with also. A car with a special color shouldn't be designated as a separate model. I can totally understand having different sub-models because they are somewhat important. It may not be important to a lot of us but to a guy who has that particular car with that particular sub-model, it is freaking sweet!

Like I said before. A livery editor would fix the problem of a striped car and unstriped car being considered 2 different sub-models or a "super purple" Skyline being considered it's own sub-models when it shouldn't even be.

They may be popular. Not to me. That's why I don't see "1000 cars" to be a good number, when most of them will be cars I will never use, not even to see how they handle, and most will be variations of the same car. The Vanishing Boy has a good point, but it's much more likely that PD will have tons of variations of japanese cars instead of american cars, thus, the number 1000 doesn't appeal to me as it appeals to other members here.

Short answer, yes, you are right. I can look at it that way and I certainly will.

I doubt I will do this, but consciously I will be aware that there isn't exactly 1000 cars to me, but rather 100, or at best, 200.

In the end, all that matters is that you have cars you enjoy and you'll get plenty of enjoyment out of the game!

I hope so. 👍 Same for you! :)

If you think that was long... you should see other members here.

I think it comes down to, that most GT fans want thier 100 or so favorite cars included. Thats all the average player will use on a regular basis. PD puts in 1000 cars to try to get as many peoples 100 in as they can. And if you love JP cars you'll have a 50% better chance of being happy.
