Is anyone else disappointed with GT5?

I'm disappointed there are no cop cars. It shouldn't be too hard to add cops in Gt5 and have them chasing me down the track. NFS:HP has cop cars.

LOL! I played that for a laugh earlier this evening and it was even more horrific than I assumed.. Cops using veyrons to crash you off the road:lol:

Graphically, I swear I've seen better on ps2. Not being a snob, it really was that bad.

It does not have to be great at everything...but a least great at something..I just feel that because this game was release 1 1/2 after Forza 3, it should have surpassed it and built on the new ideas that Forza brought to the genre, unfortunately it did not. It took FIVE years and it seem that 4 1/2 of them were on premium cars and 6 months on the game.

Ooh, they'll never get it. It is a good racing game, but not a good Gran Turismo.

I remember defending GT4 against FM1 in the day, the reason why GT4 didnt have all the customization is they focused on other things. This time they didnt focus on anything and we've had two FM's who focused on their core and expanded on it.

Like so many said before and no one answers it properly (especially not PD)... what have they done all those 6 years?

Polish the 200 premium cars to the point where it's super realistic :yuck:

And added some new features like rain and damage. But customization was taken down for the other 850 or so cars. BS.

I still like GT5 because I just like cars and racing. If I wasn't an automobile enthusiast, I probably would've returned the game.

Disappointed with GT5? Nah. What I'm disappointed is all the posts bitching about livery editors, standard cars and the endless comparisons to Forza. Do you realize how much effort PD put in to create this game? Do you think they chose to make standard cars because they are lazy or don't care? Really?

They get paid very well, you don't have to feel sorry for them.

Not sure, too busy playing awesome-sauce game...

Not going to lie I rarely drive standard cars as I like cockpits (I agree 3-4 hundred premium cars would have been best especially if they were cool affordable ones). I am in love with the Lancia... what a cool job they did on that car. It really feels like you are driving one, especially on a winter course in the snow for some reason.

As for graphics, I'm usually going too fast or worried about my entry angle, braking pressure and exit strategy to be consumed with looking at tree's. I'm pretty sure that's why they made a photo mode.

Could graphics be better? On a computer sure, no doubt my ps3's cell processor is a joke compared to modern computing power. They did however get right all the really important aspects of the premium cars and many of the tracks do look and feel remarkable.

I know that everyone is free to buy the game and have their opinion too but the game was not made for the general audience. Sure it was marketed for one but I can tell that far more attention went into the physics and detailed modeling of cars and the track it's self (as in the surface in contact with tires) and everything else was secondary. I'm fine with that.

I don't give a F. It wasn't enough. 5-6 years and 60 million doesn't add up.
At the end of the day, it's business. They provide a product that we pay for.

Neither you or I owe them anything.

Exactly, they act like it's a gift from PD and you can't look a gifted horse in it's mouth. For a lot of people the investment was way more than $60, more like $600 including the console... it would've been worth it if it was the GT we've been waiting for, instead we get some propagated Sony marketing that doesn't live up to anything they've promised it's customers.

Short answer, Yes. Very disappointed. I won't go into detail because I have stated in other threads already. But its to the point that I won't purchase GT6 until I see Tracklist and reviews.

This is really is a good racing game, however released with alot of buggs even with the 200 premium cars ive seen at least 3 that have buggy dials. Also alot of people seem to be forgetting 100 of the premium cars are from prologue so has it really taken so long to add another 100.

I would also say that i'd prefer 200 very well done cars with very good online/personalisation features, than time wasted on standard car imports and other little gimicks like 3rd which im sure almost no one has access too.

Overall dissapointed, but still a good game.

im very please with the game and the effort they make......if they want to make this game perfect... who wants to wait another years or so......i rather have them release now and do updates to fix stuff better then not playing it...

This thread might just save me $350 plus the cost of DLC to fix their screw ups. The things I expected from GT5 just aren't there so it seems. Oh well, I suppose I'll give GT2 a try. In the meantime its a measly PS2 and GT4 for me.

I know that I'm going to play GT5 for hours and hours and hours.

And that I will really enjoy it for what it is.

But I am very disappointed, from the very first moment of the very first race to be honest.

Almost all the comments I have read I agree with, positive AND negative. GT5 is inconsistent and ill-thought out. And this is what bugs me the most. Why, after 6 years, do you not have a game structure that is slick, coherent and logical? WTF PD?!

Do you know what GT5 is? GT5 is me, an Australian, not being able to change the HP ratings of engine power to kW which is how we measure power output down here, even though YOU COULD DO THIS IN PROLOGUE. And why? WHY? There literally could NOT be an easier thing to program - you take one number, multiply it by a certain factor, display new number.

And GT5 is a thousand of these things. Tiny, annoying, bizarre and easily fixed design choices that turn what could have been a great game into one that is frustrating and ultimately a disappointment.

It's like the Star Wars Prequels - someone ELSE needs to take GT off Kaz's hands before he destroys his own franchise! :scared:

QFT. I personally cannot WAIT for the day GT catches up a little with tuning and liveries and such.

Well, that's all they really have to do in order for this series to be amazing. The physics are there, it just needs things around it to feel like a more complete package.

Trolling the trolls, love it:)

I'm disappointed that the game lets people who cant drive play, there should be a patch to stop them from playing

We don't owe them anything and they don't owe us anything, either. They determine what to put into the game and how to implement it. If you don't like the end result then don't buy it or sell it on Ebay if you already have.

Oh, one more thing, please provide me with your expertise in determining how long and how much it should cost to create a game on the PS3, a console which many developers have stated is difficult to write for. If you can't then I guess I'm going to have to suggest you don't know what you're talking about regarding development of a product.

When did Sony and PD force anyone into buying a PS3 and GT5?

For it to cost $600 it would have been a launch PS3. Did people buy one of those PS3's when they first came out and not use it for 3+ years until GT5 came out? I'm guessing not. I'm guessing that said people have used the console for the past 3+ years for other games and blurays. To suggest that their investment was not worth it based solely on the quality of GT5 is absurd.

This is not an arcade game.
Yeah in fact racing is really simulating!! No test, no qualifying, just drive for 2 laps against AI that drives at road legal speed.
Is that motorsport?

And the driving physics is OK, probably the best on console, but game modes are just so stupid and arcade.
In single player i get no FUN, that's not motorsport, no qualifing, no fine tuning to get a better lap time, no challenge at all by AI drivers.

With B-Spec Yes its disappointing. But I am more disappointed with SCEA and PD (Even KY) for blocking out North America with special content. I don't look at just a game I look at the company as well.

You asked, I gave my opinion!

I see them havig events DLC as well. Like DL a La Mans 24 hr event or Rolex 24 hr event with a few cars as well. That would rule

I'm just low of XP points (really hard to play this game for people that's used to race simulations) so i still didn't see the upper level races in a-spec.
But they introduced 24h lighting on la sarthe and didn't introduced 24h? LOL That's what i call a HUGE FAIL.

The more I play the less those disappointing issues seem to matter. I'm even warming up to those used standard cars. Yeah, I wish there was a livery editor and more tuning and customization options but wow, the Nurburgring is amazing and the physics are awesome. I'm loving this game.

All can be forgiven with one quick drive at sunset around the 'ring in a fully modified F430 Scuderia on S3 tyres. The best driving experiences I've had in a game are from GT5

But it's still a disappointment mainly because of the car and track list.

Oh well back to the ring..

I'm disappointed of seeing a big number of trolls and complainers complaining about every minor glicht/bug in the game, disappointed of the people than use the same berlinette picture to complain about standard cars when there are a lot of standard cars than looks good, disappointed about the people crying because they can't crash 'til death their cars with liveries based on dicks ans balls in online races

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Stupidest comment ever. you cant compare those games to GT. it doesnt go that way.

GT5 is for people that have a passion and love for cars. and race them etc. nothing like yeah lets crash all cars and laugh about it. then you got it so wrong. GT series is a serious game........

Yeah u can't but at least those game have a more consistent racing mode:
If you want rallyes in dirt2 you get stages with co-driver, in gt5 what you get?
It's a serious game without qualyfing, without a DECENT series/championship in all the game, without a decent challenge with AI players?

And at least how does PD thinks that a clutch works? Why if i press the gas while clutch is off it doesn't change my gear???

Complaining about jagged shadows is stupid. Any PC gamer knows that smooth shadows consume a lot of processing power. It's not like you draw shadow textures, they are calculated on the fly.

I'm actually very impressed by the shadows from the trees and leaves on the road and in the cockpit.

Then there are the stupid menu complaints. Who cares about menus? Seriously? Menus? lol

An intelligent comment like this really strengthens the credibility of GT5 being a masterpiece.👍

One game can't possibly do all the things you're asking for. It can just give you a taste of Nascar and Rally. It can't be both a Rally game, a Nascar game and a full racing sim with fun challenges thrown in.

If you want a Rally game buy Dirt 2. If you want a full racing sim pay iRacing every month.

Be reasonable man.

I want my $59 to take to the junkyard to buy a 71 datsun to beat on, run into tree, or jump ramp. Then I'll sell it to the used car dealer for $5,000.

Well you don't understand the point, do you?

Yes, the problems exist, at this point I'm almost sure PD know about them, but my point is than the people still complaining on circles using the same arguments/images, thats the problem, deal with it, if you feel than PD stole ypur life then just sell your copy and never buy another GT game but please stop trolling that hard, it just seems like Kaz had taken your virginity :sly:
