I have no problems with the sounds.
I would like them to be better, it would be nice but I don't have a problem with it either.

personally I'd rather they improve the AI than the sounds.
Well... I'll be honest. I'll buy it no matter what because there really isn't any competition to Gran Turismo for me. Well, there is Forza, but it's not the same, and once again, I'd be buying a Box - and wheel, and Live... - solely for the pleasure of playing Forza. And that's steep.

Having said that though, I do hope that the team takes the time to make all aspects of GT6 somewhat up to snuff. I also would like to see more human A.I. more than engine sound improvements, but frankly, I don't see other games having much better behavior. But see about silencing the critics as much as possible. If they still complain...

Oh, I'll manage to sleep at night somehow. ;)

I actually had a little trouble hitting my shifts properly in the GT Academy demo. Driving the GTR GT3, it just never sounded like it was "reving out". I'd hold the shift, hold the shift then all of a sudden I'd hit the limiter. There was minimal audio information to tell me the car was about to redline. As always, you adapt. Slowly I learnt the "correct" sound that a good shift coincides with, but it's definitely something that shouldn't require a workaround.

If sounds remain similar to GT5 I'll be disappointed. I know Polyphony have the talent to make a car sim of supreme quality, so it's very frustrating when they continue to fall short.

The only reason it isn't a deal-breaker is because there is no other option for a PS3 racer. If you want to play NFL, you're stuck with Madden and it's sad. If you want a racer, you're pretty much stuck with GT.

Neither one of those, if you really follow GT then you should know Kaz has already stated that those are just there as sound effects and they will be updated for the final version.

He also said, that he's not sure if they can achieve that next step, their "breakthrough" in GT6 and I seriously doubt it.

If only the standard cars can have the rims/mags of the premium cars, then it's a good thing. Aero kits, too, should be available in the standard cars, not only the wing/spoiler.
Kaz has said that the quality of Standards will be so good, there will be no functional differences or segregation from Premiums.

Some time ago, I claimed the sounds to be a dealbreaker for me personally and I still stand by it. For GT5, I was just able to accept it due to the long wait, but it won't do it this time around.

1. Standard Cars need to look a LOT better than GT5
2. Sounds need to improve
3. Longer and better A-Spec GT Mode

if PD fixes those issues, GT6 will be revolutionary and will be the best racing game on PS3 or this generation(in my opinion).

They should also allow customizations for every car in the game and that includes rally & race cars.

Good point there, but i can see why PD struggles with customization with 1200 cars in the game, but still..they should have some sort of editor.

Not quite a dealbreaker, but it is indeed a pretty weakspot that leaves GT6 defenceless to the general opinion. See the YouTube videos, the comments on VirtualR, etc. : GT6 sounds are the laughing stock of the racing games/sims community. They don't ruin the entire game for me, but they do detract from the entire experience.

I'll still get it, I think it'll still have some great advantages over other software, I'm still wishing I could buy a 10th Ani Edition in the U.S. But it can't be denied, sounds suck.

I agree. Except I couldn't care less if GT6 is a "laughing stock"; as long as I'm having fun, the cool police can circle jerk to their hearts' content.

Well, this is OT, but Rockstar was able to add this feature on their cars in GTA V. And if GT6 will have some sort of editor as you we're saying, it should allow all rally, race and concept cars, etc. to be painted with any paint, change their wheels and add some aerokits, too. But thing is, it's not like that, which is sad news to me.

Laughable games don't sell. Games that don't sell, don't stay alive. That's as simple as that. I agree with you, I'm still going to enjoy the game, but the sounds are absolutely pathetic and that'll sure cement the idea on casuals minds that GT doesn't have "It" anymore. And, being honest, a GT fanboy like me is having a hard time believing they have "It" as well...

I don't think that's true, generally. Those little boys on YouTube aren't the majority of the market by any stretch. It'll sell well enough, and the new sounds will be on PS4 anyway.

Race cars and Rally cars won't have any kind of decal editing in my opinion, they don't need one, it would looks like a mess anyway, the cars are already covered in decals and sponsors.

I don't mean the decals. What I meant is that they should be painted with any colors or paint. For example, the Delta S4 is a rally car and it can't be painted in GT Auto, I'm wishing it can be painted with any color, like all black, etc. or in other words, removed decals and painted in one color. It should also allow to change the wheels of those rally and race cars.

Wheels yeah, but i highly doubt the other part, most race cars won't have coloring, would be cool if they did though.

Yes, it definitely will. Actually there are some unpaintable cars that can be painted but only through hybridding, cars like the 330 P4 and etc. but still, not all of them can be painted.

It's a dealbreaker in that I wouldn't buy it on release with GT5-esque sounds.

I'll buy it when it's Platinum, used, or in the $20 bin, because that's just good value. I'm fairly picky about spending $60+ on a game, but for $20 I'm willing to accept a lot of "not-so-great".

It will definitely be a deal breaker for me, I am very disappointed with PD because they were among the first to bring us a racing sim but now it seems like the rest of the sim games are surpassing GT6.

After trying afew PC sim's I am convinced that PD will not surpass the up coming titles on PC for 2014. The PC sim's have way surpassed PD. I think PD will be in for a big surprise when Project CARS hits the PS3, that will probably hit them hard and to be honest they kind of deserve it for being so stubborn. I mean are they deaf?

If they are testing and driving all sort's of cars with racing exhaust's then go back to the office and listen to their own sound, if it was me I wouldn't want to go back to the office it would probably make me physically sick to hear those vacuum cleaners from the storage cupboard after hearing driving top of the range sport's cars.

Come on PD wake up, all you need to do is run Forza 4 and GT5 together with same cars, surely Kaz can tell the difference in what sounds more realistic, stop hiding behind a lie to cover up the embarrassing sound effect's.

*EDIT*

I think I would even stay with rFactor 1 over GT5 to be honest. I've been on PC now for the past 6 months and installed rfactor with a hand full of mods (who says I cant have Porsche?) and probably a hundred tracks. When I drove I thought ok the graphics isn't that good but can live with it because sound and physics on the wheel is very good.

Now I wish I got into rfactor instead of buying GT5. This time i'm sticking to PC sim's, why? Because there is at least 5 top sim developing companies so they all going to make sure they can deliver the best experience. After Project CARS i'm sure PD will do something about sound. GT6 will still be a great game don't get me wrong I just think PC sim's is better in every way.

The only way I will buy GT6 is if PD upgrade to real engine sound not some crappy Dyson sound. I want to hear what you hear in a real race car.

Well it's clear to me that PD will not succeed in GT6 but we will soon see for ourselves, I don't have hope for PD for a number of reason's not just sound. I'll give a comparison with GT's closest rival at the moment.

FM4 and GT5 has been compared endless times and is still an on going discussion, I went and tried FM4 on wheel roughly when Porsche was released as DLC. Reason why I went over to FM4? Choice of cars, Sound and Porsche. Comparing the two games from my experience as a wheel user without being bias is easy because i'm just looking for a whole package for a motor sport game and not just graphics and physics.
As a wheel player on GT5 since release I was naturally going to compare wheel force feed back and GT5 wins that hands down for me. But that's where it stops because FM4 does everything else better, for example the PP system in FM4 is a much better thought out system, everything has performance points, tyres, gear box, exhaust, brakes, clutch, literally anything upgradeable has PP's and also FM4 does not have an engine limiter (who's idea was it to put this crap in a sim?). The engine limiter is a really bad idea, no other sim has it and is a stupid idea why was it put in?

Then there is the choice of cars, Turn 10 tried to give a good variety from a lot of racing catagories. FM4 has a lot more to offer, better choice in cars. No 10 same model car or standard models, just a well made put together content. GT5 on the other hand the only thing going for GT5 is Force feedback from the wheel and the graphics of premium cars and tracks. Everything else in GT5 suck, not enough wheel options for wheel users the PP system, the engine limiter, awful music and sound effects. Forza on the other hand got everything right except the most important thing, the wheel.

I'm starting to realize how an exclusive PlayStation racing game is mediocre for having horrible engine sounds in the cars.

I'll still buy GT6 at the end of the day as the sounds don't really partake my interest, they're bad and they should improve it but I'm not expecting it to be that way and I'm not going to stop my fun over some engine sounds.

I'm buying GT6 based on the sheer fun I'll get from it for 60 bucks, photomode, making replicas and driving the new cars, racing in GTP leagues, the new physics, the new tracks, everything. GT6 is what GT5 failed to be. Improved greatly in some places, but still unrefined in others and I'm fine with my oddball game as long as I still have fun with it.

Also I didn't pay 60 bucks for GT5, I got a 20$ XL Edition off of Amazon but I am willing to pay full price for GT6.

Yes, I'm not getting GT6 based on this, I find it ridiculous and sad that a AAA developer with unlimited time and money can't even get a single sound sample right, a single one...It's not even about the sounds anymore, it's just another example of how lazy they are.

Good thing then that there's no such thing as unlimited time and money, because I don't want you to feel sad. 👍

See the YouTube videos, the comments on VirtualR, etc. : GT6 sounds are the laughing stock of the racing games/sims community.

The only thing those videos, comments, etc. are telling me is how many kids nowadays that has never used a vacuum cleaner. That saddens me.

The sounds are fairly important to me, one of my biggest disappointments with GT5 was finding out what PD thinks a 330 P4 sounds like.

However, the sounds are not important enough to completely turn me off the game. I'll still get it at release anyway, because GTA5 and GT6 will be the last games I'll be getting for the PS3 probably. Unless my PS3 slim dies as well.

GT7 on PS4 will be another story. If the sounds are still crap in that game, then, well, no. No I will not buy it, probably.
