is PD intentionally not disclosing the release date or even postpone?

@duncan: Ehhhh why i also believe theres a Slim coming... you know that most people wont believe you? You know, the typical forum stuff of a guy posting "insider" stuff but not knowing anything.

It wouldve been more wise from you to not post this or at least prove that youre working in the industry. ;)

Not saying youre lying though, who knows?

Its not that I (we) don't believe you its just kinda well inevitable. When all the news about the PSP Go started to pop up I was like "ok this is real". Same with the slim. Also logic would denote that that PS3 Slim + price drop + GT5 = Sony has an amazing holiday, saves a lack luster year, and saves stock, not to mention GT5 sells boat loads thus making Sony even more money.

I've often wondered if we are being kept in the cold because KY doesn't want details getting leaked before Forza comes out. How awesome would it be if at GamesCon or TGS they announce that GT5 will beat Forza to the shelves by a week!

As i posted in the release date thread, i will put the same reminder here.

I don't know why we feel the need to speculate the release date, when we have technically already been told officially, albeit a while back, but this still seems to be true and fitting with the rumours recently.

''For next year, the chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment for southern Europe said that they are developing a new game thriller, in which the player may be designing their own history, and the new version of Gran Turismo, which will arrive at Christmas''

There you go, an official stated fact. I would bet my left hand that GT will be released during the christmas period.

What someone says in an interview means nothing. If it did we would have had about 10 different release dates, and that is just off of interviews with Kaz.

Well then it looks like we will be waiting till christmas for this ''official'' confirmation then, haha boom boom.

i am guessing FM3 10 week sales = first week GT5 sales?

well, if the slim is coming out with a decent price cut and GT5, it will be amazing deal for sony and PD

If the game comes out at the same time as this near mythical PS3 Slim then it will be November at the latest. No one spends that kind of money in December. All the Christmas shopping will have been already done by then.*

*Says he who used to wait until Christmas Eve to do his Christmas shopping when he was a teenager. :sly:

Ok... just found an article from Aug. 5th that the PS3 Slim is rumored to be announced at GamesCom in Germany... May be old news but also may be new to some of us :) Could this mean GT5 is going to come sooner than expected? YAY!!!

http://gadget.nl/gaming/geruchten/27158/gerucht-ps3-slim-deze-maand-in-keulen.html

Article is in Dutch... Heres a crappy translation from Babelfish  Im too lazy to translate myself :D

Rumour: PS3 malignant these months in Cologne

Firstly leaks vague photograph of packing, then PS3 malignant short on the German Internet site of Amazon and communicates to RTL information that now the slim version of Sony appeared console month still this will be announced during the gamebeurs in Cologne.

Placed by: Godfather emperor

According to the Belgian Internet site PS3 malignant on 18 augusts Sony it will be announced during a press conference before the Gamescom in Cologne. Many details concerning the new PlayStation 3 are there not yet, but descending on all earlier bulletins concerning PS3 malignant it seems nevertheless real that we can expect a remake of the console soon.

Underway

Gister could web-unwieldly Engadget still communicate that it will be no longer sold 80GB-model of PS3 in Japan. An indication which a remake is underway. Not much later came RTL information with the news which the same version of the game computer in Europe in price will decrease of 399 to 299 euro.

How small and slim PS3 malignant exact will be and which specifications have the apparatus is still unknown. But that the new console underway is, is well almost certain.

This wouldn't be the same thing found in an "underground market in the Philippines," would it? :indiff: The photo appears to be from the same shop that the linked article discusses, but this begs the question: why would a slim PS3 be offered for sale in the Philippines before any other place (and unboxed to boot!), and also before the stock of regular consoles is sold out? I'm not convinced by the current photographs, and I wouldn't be surprised if what we've seen is nothing more than a cheap knockoff made by an imitator. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened:

On the other hand, there is circumstantial evidence that points towards a new SKU going into production, which may or may not be the rumored PS3 slim, but that probably will take full advantage of the 70% reduction in production costs. No doubt, a slim model is in the future, but the timing is still uncertain.

In the background it looks like there are also PSPs and maybe an I-pod on the right side. Looks like a fake factory to me.

I am only the messenger :P I have no idea where the pic stems from and it was placed with the article... Its does say PS3 though and has a PS symbol there... so its not like the ones you posted with fake names... However I cannot confirm anything so I wont either... 👍

I understand. ;)

That is true, but because of where it was uncovered, I'm still skeptical. However, the logo font is similar, but the S is much different. I think it would be strange for Sony to shorten the logo and change the font this early into the current cycle. The change in the buttons, and what looks like the drop of the Sony branding above the power button (the picture is cut off, but there appears to be no room) are also quite strange.

I very well might be wrong, though. :)

Don't forget KY has a big seat in Sony Computer Entertainment.

Dont know if this is the right place to post but I have clarification on that Filipino PS3 in the pic there... Filipino forum site... turns out that thing is a PS3, but just a mod...

From someone who visited the same store as in the video
Re: PS3 Slim spotted in a street market (Philippines)

Okay... just got home. So fvkcing exhausted.

So... here it goes...

I'm not saying there wasn't one in Greenhills. It's possible for it to resurface this week in that store owned by that indian guy who last bought it.

We went to the original store where the slim PS3 was displayed and talked to the guy whom I think owns the stall (he's the same guy in the video).

Here are the things he said:
* unit was bought from some dude who got the unit from the US.
* there are two units but only one unit was for sale (the one he got).
* it was sold to him because it cannot be modded (LOL).
* they tested a PS3 game (Unreal Tournament III) and it worked.
* they tested an unknown (not bootlegged) PS2 game from an unknown region, the PS3 detected the disc, it didn't work. SUCKS!
* hard drive slot is underneath when placed horizontally.
* PSU is internal.
* matte finish.
* slim PS3 cannot be placed vertically without some sort of a stand unlike the fat one.
* he got it for 12K PhP.
* there was some sort of packaging but it's not a retail box.
* it came with the necessary cables and a DS3.
* he sold the unit to an indian fellow who has a game store in Bridgeway for 22K PhP.
* he said the indian dude was planning on creating a customized box for it (I guess for it to look like something that is being sold in retail).
* slim PS3 is almost the same size as the fat PS2.
* he's unaware of the firmware installed.
* it's possible for him to get another unit next month.
* when asked about any contact information of the dude that sold the unit to him, he declined giving it.

Okay... I don't believe everything he said but I've got a gut feeling the slim PS3 that he got is real. It's possible he's only covering his tracks.

Then we went to the store of that indian guy but he's nowhere to be found. The slim PS3 is nowhere to be found as well. But I did talk to one of his employees.

* she confirmed her boss got one yesterday.
* it's not in the store.

The employee was hesitant in answering my questions. I don't know why. LOL

Anyway, it's up to you guys if you want to believe the rumor. Sorry for making you guys expect some good news. BTW, the place where the slim PS3 was sold... there were no game console knock offs on sight. I mean even the other stores don't sell knock offs. Some stores are even selling fat PS3s and Xbox 360s. But most of the stores are selling PSPs and mobile phones. We tried checking the other stores for the slim but to no avail.

I'm starting to hate that indian guy for buying the slim PS3 and for not showing the world that it works.

If you guys have questions, feel free to ask.

And yeah... we suck!

edit: added internal PSU and matte finish
