Is this damage on the Toyota FT-86 at CES?

1. show me a picture of it changing and acting like a reflection...I see no change in the color of that section of the bumper other than it passing through shadows and becoming slightly darker, but CERTAINLY not acting like a reflection would.

2. Where are the reports of no damage?

again, if this is the case. I ask for a simple explanation as to how this section of the car shows no reaction to light in any of the shots i have shown?

Where are there reports that there is damage? There seems to be always someone who plays the demo and takes a video just to test the damage, and we havn't seen anything like that yet. So far we have seen ign make a very stupid 2/3D attempt, and we have seen the vid with the Mclaren F1 which doesn't actually show any racing.

We would have heard about it by now, The article on Motortrend didn't mention it though, and since its a new addition to the series surely they would have commented on it, like a "This demo has mediocre damage like previous demos we have seen" or something like that.

Yep, he is right, those look like scratches to me.
As for the front, I have to agree with the reflection theory. If you watch the whole video, it does change, but only a little, and why would it be damaged at the beginning of a race?

AHHH...So some guy claims there have been reports of no damage. I ask for a source to prove it, and nobody can, so you ask me to prove my point.

My response to that would be this.

1. I have shown 9 pictures of the car...in each and every one of those pictures the EXACT same section of the car looks grey like its missing paint.

2. NOBODY in this thread can post a picture of the car where that section is clearly red like the rest of the car.

3. NOBODY has a source to say definitively that there is no damage in that video.

well that side CERTAINLY looks like scratches....

I still don't see the front of the car changing enough to make me think in ANY way that that section is a reflection.

I also think that it is assumption to think its the beginning of the race

*scratch pic*

Now thats more like it. There is a small chance its a reflection of the treeline, once again distorted slightly by the 3D, but it does look like a scratch to me.

My stance on the front bumper pics still remains the same though.

Though i would wait until we see an actual video of the damage happening before i make my mind up. Besides, wern't thos pics taken from the start of a race? Where no cars have crashed yet?

EDIT:

There you go, its red. Its a reflection, the lighting is different. You only see the car from the same sort of angle in the vid, this was where the car turned briefly so you got a slightly different angle.

EDIT: Actually i'm pretty convinced it was the start of a race so none of these show damage, just reflections. You won't see most of these reflections in game because the extra effects are added only in replays.

This is just the reflection of the light passing between the tree branches. these reflections move very fast. They do look like scratches but they are not.

You see they move

sweet...so now we have 9 photos showing the exact same grey shape, and one that shows something different....:sly: im not saying it can't be a reflection...but if it is...PD has really dropped the ball

and even in your pic the grey shape is still clearly there. I might argue that its simply in a shadow and harder to see.

Proof? Didn't think so. He posted a pic, where is yours? Edit: I see your pic

you can only see the car from that angle for possibly a frame or 2 in the video. And for that amount of time, those look STRIKINGLY similar to what might happen if the side of your car scrapped down a barrier...

And like I've said before. If that is supposed to be a reflection, PD has missed the boat ENTIRELY because that doesn't look anything like a reflection.

Aye, because i'm the sort of person who would edit an image just to prove i am right about a reflection in a game that i'm looking forward to just as much as you. :sly: It is irrelevant whether it is a scratch or not, we've seen the scratches before :) Supposedly we're getting more than that in the final game.

I just want to see more vids!!!

i never claimed that you edited the picture...

And frankly, If that is the type of scratches we can expect, im disappointed. I don't want those to be scratches or damage lol. But I also don't want that to be the quality of the reflections either.

I know, just covering my tracks ;) Meh i thought you were hinting that i did/joking on with me lol

Just because of the pitlane wall, its all white, and the bodywork points at a downward angle slightly. I'm sure its fine once you're round the other side of the track. ign didn't think to film that far into it XD

We havn't seen the 'completed' damage model, come on Polyphony Digital we are getting impatient here! If its just scratches tell us now so we don't get disappointed on release :D

to be honest I think its damage because if you look at the previous damage videos scratches always appear to be white

Because this clearly looks like something has graised the side

and there's an image taken a split second before/after that one that shows the scratches have moved/shifted. Look at the whole thread before trying to make factual posts using your opinions.

Here's a perfectly new Toyota FT-86, and it has scratches all over the front bumper. Nope, just a reflection.

I have not seen any video footage

See post #37 (by The_Hate_u_Gave) on previous page, you should see that it indeed (almost ) looks like scratches, but they are changing like I'd expect reflections to change... which makes me think they are actually reflactions. ;)

I think you guys see what you want to see ,but it's just a reflection ;)

It's clearly a reflection, I can see that even though it is a picture of a TV screen taken from a handheld camera. I don't see what the debate is for.
