Is Your Car in Gran Turismo, and Does Your Car Deserve to be in GT5?

A 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone would be nice. Theres one sitting in my driveway.

Such a nice looking car. Very powerful too. Had the same 289 as the mustangs did. However the one in my driveway does not have that same 289. It has a 289 made to be barely street legal at the time it was built. It's not street legal anymore. My brother crashed it a while back.

Here's some pics of what they look like.

the last one has a 427.

My car deserves to be on GT5, because pretty much noone knows about it, while it actually is among the best of the bunch.

Check the wishlists for BMW 3-series. What do you see?

...
316i
318i
320i
325i
328i
M3
...

I never ever saw my car on a wishlist: the 323i. It always slips through, noone ever notices it. And that's so wrong, because that's the very reason it is a good car. Here's why:

BMW decided for the E36 range they need a model between the 320i and the 325i. So they created the 323i. Despite its name, it has 2.5 liters of displacement and shares the engine block with the 328i. The 325i also has 2.5 liters, but has the block from the previous model (E30). So they faced the problem of the 323i having a more sophisticated engine than the 325i. Therefore, they detuned the 323i a little to fill the gap in terms of performance. In real life, the car often has more than the officially stated 170 hp (has been dyno'ed with 180+ hp stock). And with a little bit of work here and there (intake, exhaust, electronics), you can easily surpass the 325i and catch up to the 328i.

I know this probably just ist boring technobabble for you, but for me, the 323i clearly is the sleeper of the bunch, and therefore, it deserves to be in GT5.

Well, it wasn't technobabble for me. I kept a E36 325i (1992) because I just love that car (and because by the time I needed another car the price I was offered for the BMW was ridiculously low, so I didn't sell) and it was interesting to know all this.

Keep your car, Interceptor, if both enter GT5 (not probable, either of them), we may even have a race between us two, with our cars 👍

I would like my car (98 1.3 Ford Fiesta) in a GT game but it doesn't deserve to be in :P

If they were going to put a mk4/5 Fiesta in it should be the 1.6 Zetec-S

Maybe not your paticular ute but a ute or two from Ford and Holden would be nice.

Two of my cars should (one was in GT2) and the other two shouldn't.

Certainly, not my Ute in particular, but there are many Utes that should/could go in, and don't forget the Valiants!:)

Lately me and a friend of mine have been arguing about who could run a faster lap in his M5. Plus, I think the E39 M5 is exactly the kind of car GT was made for. I'd love to see (and hear) an M5 lightly modded, like his, as well as a Dinan S2 and some other Dinan cars.

Here's his car, we drove it down from Seattle when he bought it and took pictures in redwood country:

^^^ i 100% agree about the e39 m5, very promising performance sadan. every single ///M car should be in the series and im very surprised that there are not more of them, esp the older cars. e36 m3, e34 m5, e30 m3, e28 m5..all golden cars. even my 95 e34 540i 6-spd deserves a shot, only 1300 v-8 6-spds produced world wide..heres mine

I would like to see some of the older BMW's, they wore realy good looking cars. Since Bangle came along, it never got better with the design of BMW.

I don't know if it's been brought up or not, read several posts but I did not see the Passat W8 in any listings.

I think the Lightning version of my truck would make for a good "truck class" dragster, or just like an older, used vehicle found in the used galleries. That would be cool!

Not my car - a FWD station wagon with no historical significance has no place. But, I know a guy who owns one of these:

A 1973 Triumph Spitfire Mark IV. There was a Spitfire in GT4, so I've got my hopes up. It's fun to ride in with it's mind-blowing 57 HP :D.

Would that be the first gen Lightning you're talking about? The second gen was featured in GT4...

I hope the Cadillac CTS-V is in this game. Affordable bruiser sedans FTW.

Cars I don't own... I hope a few more Mustangs were bothered to be put in here, like the Fox body models, and a few more Cobra variants. There is more creative energy to be put elsewhere than into more Sky*yawn*lines.

Also, Dodge RAM SRT-10 was AWOL GT4, IMO.

It would be nice to see an '89 Trans Am GTA. There's one in my garage.

Or maybe more deserving would be my car's relative, the 20th anniversary Turbo Trans Am. It was the first (I could be mistaken, so correct me if I'm wrong) car to pace the 500 without any modifications to the drivetrain. It was also the most potent American production car of the 1980's, along with the Buick GNX, as it had the same turbocharged 3.8 litre V6. So I guess that's somewhat historical.

I don't expect my 5 to be in, nor the Si, but I wouldn't mind being given the chance to have my Type-S in the game.

I own a car with the smallest capacity V6 for the world market (and the last example of it ever sold in the UK), the fastest and most powerful production Ford Europe car in the last 15 years and an MX-5. I'd struggle to argue against any of them.

First gen Lightning FTMFW.

The early Lightnings were more than just a hotter F-150. The suspension was a bit different as I recall, the rear diff was the strongest 8.8" Ford ever produced from the factory and had 4.10 gears, and the frame was thicker and stiffer than a normal F-150.

It deserves to be in.

The FB (SA22C for anyone outside of the US) RX-7 needs in, as does the old RX-3, RX-4 and Cosmo. Preferably in as many body styles as possible.

The MN12 Thunderbird Super Coupe deserves entry thanks to the awesomeness of the supercharged 3.8L V6 residing under the hood and the modifiability of it, as does the Fox-chassis Aero Bird Turbo Coupe if the SVO Mustang doesn't make it.

Focus XR5 Turbo isn't faster than an MX-3?:odd:

I imagine it probably is, given that it's the same as the Ford Europe Focus ST. I don't understand the relevance of your question though.

Agree with the MX-3 and MX-5 (very surprised the MX-3 hasn't been in GT before actually). Which Ford do you own that you refer to?

I'm hoping the R56 MINI makes an appearance in the game, hopefully in JCW, S, non-S and One trims but I would settle for just the JCW if they are only going to put one in. I know the R53 MINI will be in there since it was in GT5:P. They make such fun track cars though I hope to have a good number of various models.

Probably the best feature about GT though is that you have a chance to drive a car like yours (down to the same colour) on a track without risk of damaging your baby.

I had a PM asking if it was an RS500 - nothing quite so fascinating, I'm afraid. It's an '07 Mondeo ST220. The only Ford Europe car in the last 20 years I can find with more power is the Escort RS Cosworth (227hp) - though I believe Ford are due to update the Focus ST with a 260hp mill (from 222hp) and the Mk4 Mondeo ST should share that engine. The current Focus ST and last Focus RS both beat it to 60mph, but neither reach the same top speed (nor does the Escort RS Cosworth).

I suppose in many respects it's just a big engine in a saloon car (and a Ford at that), but it's a bloody good drive (the tail is very happy to wag at you if you're naughty) and rarer than an Aston Martin DB9... And the most powerful and fastest car they've put out in 15 years (if not the quickest, by a tiny margin).

I'm also surprised the MX-3 hasn't made it before now. But if PD want mine - the last one Mazda UK sold - they know where I am.

I have a Opel Vectra GTS '03 (the same car of GT4).

It's a 3.2L V6 [211hp].

I think it deserve to be in GT5, because is a very popular car in Europe and a very good DTM Racer!

I thought you were referring to your MX-3 as the most powerful Ford Europe car, seeing they are the same brand.:ouch: See how I got confused? You didn't mention you had a Mondeo, so I figured it was the Mazda, which is technically a Ford.

Broadly, no I don't - though I appreciate that you were.

Ford had nothing to do with the creation of the MX-3 - much less Ford Europe, given that the car was assembled in Hiroshima - and didn't in fact take a controlling interest in Mazda until 12 months after the last one rolled off the production line. So it's not "technically a Ford", since nothing of Ford went into it and they had no involvement. Furthermore I don't think anyone would reasonably claim that the MX-3 was the most powerful anything, Mazda OR Ford, in 15 years, since it ran in conjunction with the MX-5, MX-6, Xedos 6, Xedos 9, 626, RX-7, 323, Probe, Scorpio, Sierra, Mondeo, Escort, Focus and Fiesta, all of which had variants with more power (the MX-3 is variously reported at anything from 133hp to 142hp).

All of those facts notwithstanding, I used commas to separate a list... Item 1, Item 2 and Item 3. Item 1 - the smallest production V6 for the world market. Item 2 - the most powerful and fastest Ford Europe car in the last 15 years. Item 3 - an MX-5.

The Mondeo even has its own thread here. In fact here.

Colinod: the FB RX-7 was in GT2...and very hard to get a hold of. if they put the early ninties cosmo's back in, I'll be very happy.

nice to see someone remembered the first gen lightning...tho it IS on a boring body.
theFAO: pardon my plug, but there's a couple catalongs I can think of out there that have stock parts AND goodies for that lightning

I know this is gonna sound dorky, but...you know how no guy (and, gals, I believe) forgets their first car? well, how about Taurus's immediate predicesor, the Little LTD/Mini Marquis? (I call them this to seperate them from the full sizers, crown vic/Grand Marq). I had a loaded 85 marq Brougham with the 3.8 stuffed in it, and that puppy would just fly! (and with a slushbox, no less!). what the hey, it was a fox sedan, had a police package available, and, of course, being a fox, you could stick the 5.0 in it.

one of my cars (350z) is in the game, though the year is wrong. ive got an 06. as for my escort, no, it does not deserve to be in the game. not at all.
