It's more than just that, you'd swap it for good engine sounds, a better implementation of features in general and better offline/online racing too.

I actually wouldn't, though I can see why some people might. Each to their own I suppose.

But shouldn't we judge how complete a game is on it's own merit as apposed to what was promised?

Fair enough question, so I'll leave it with one last answer before I go to bed. (3 in the morning here)

I wouldn't judge any other product in the universe by that standard, and video games are no different. I am perfectly fine with waiting for some things when I am told ahead of time that they won't be available at purchase, and I may enjoy what I do get at purchase immensely while I wait, but no product is ever complete until I am given everything advertised prior to purchase.

This isn't a case of statement along the lines of "maybe we'll be adding", or "we would like to be adding". These are features advertised has "will be added". It also turns out that in this case these features had very little influence over my purchase, has I have bought every GT since the first, and will buy every one until the last, (if only out of tradition now), but that doesn't mean I will be lowering my standards has I would apply them to any other product and it's advertising. When all of the promised features are added, then it's a complete product.

Beyond that, remaining bugs, design issues, etc, then fall under the area of product quality, and that's another issue in my book.

OK, the last four aren't bugs, perhaps.

But I'd really like to know how you've not come across something as common as the tyre wear/fuel depletion pit bug... I guess if you don't take part in the longer races then you've probably not taken a pit stop - fair enough. But GTP, and the wider GT community, sometimes do race in slightly longer races which do require a pit stop to be made. In fact, a lot of the leagues and clubs that feature here on GTP organise and take part in races exceeding an hour in length. It's likely that during these races a pit stop must be made and it's at this point that you'll notice your tyres wearing a lot more than they did before the stop, your fuel depleting at a faster rate than before your stop, and the wear being reversed from the way it was before the stop.
This is the case in both online and offline mode so it's unclear how you've not come across this, as pit stops are required in some of the longer races in A-Spec mode, too e.g. the 15 Laps of Brands Hatch and the 24 Minutes of Le Mans. But these are Super License races and perhaps it's just the case that you've not played this portion of the game just yet, which would explain why you've yet to come across these bugs.

Apologies for accusing you of trolling, but it did seem that way, as it's hard to believe that somebody would not have experienced the very common pit bug.

More bugs I've noticed - if they can be called that:
- on the first long straight on Mount Panorama, if you look behind you, you can see all sorts of graphical glitches happening on the fenced area directly behind you (I do believe this is true of quite a lot of fenced areas on tracks throughout the game);
- sometimes, when exiting the pits at Nurb GP/F, the screen will remain black for a few seconds whilst the car makes its way onto the track, resulting in possible contact with other cars;
- continued replay display issues when changing from one car to another (even though this was apparently ironed out in an update);
- some shadowed reflections on cars appear to be very jagged;
- during the 15 Laps of Brands race in the Super License portion of the game, during the pre race replay camera, the view is very buggy and it appears as though there is a large drop in frame rate, temporarily;

And this is one is potentially damaging to your PS3 system:
- multiple screen freezes, which result in the user having to power off the console, only to be presented with the Hard Drive restore function once the power is restored.

The longest races I've done is the 24 minute ones. I didn't notice anything special, but I'll take a closer look at my tyres and fuel the next time. 👍

The fence thing I haven't seen, but I've seen a few other graphical glitches. It looks funny (like the one that looks like a deer running across Willow Springs), but it doesn't have a big impact on the game.

The black screen during exiting of pits (online I assume, and only when you go from the lobby to the track?) I have seen, not on GP/F but on other tracks. It's a problem, but it only occurs when you go from lobby to the track. If you're talking about something else, then I haven't seen it.

The replay display issue I've seen is that it takes some time for the graphics to load when you switch from one car to another (and possibly when you skip forwards or backwards? I can't remember right now...). That one seems quite unerstandable though. Perhaps they should just add a loading screen there instead.

Haven't done the 15 laps of Brands Hatch, but I'll keep a look out for it.

I don't think I've had any screen freezes, but I've had a few lobby freezes where the game gets stuck on a loading screen, and on two occasions where I've joined a lobby and everything has been disabled except for the chat function.

So while there are bugs in the game, from my experience they're not very common or have a very big impact. The game freeze issue is probably the most severe one. I don't know if it can damage your system, but it takes a long time to restart it when it has to go through that system check first.

And thanks for keeping the discussion on a good level :gtpflag:

What I find very funny about it, the majority of people out there who buy GT arent community members as we are, they buy the game in hope of all the features they read about, and get a half assed game searching for nothing for all the advertised things. And thats how you lose customers especially in the age of this quick gaming industry releasing games over games with DLC. People have no patience anymore, the most people will probably feel tricked move on to the next game and dont buy any GT anymore.

I for myself aren't a big fan of shooters, but lets say I see a Call of Duty and read about all the community features of clan gameplay etc. And tell my friends hey lets play CoD and make our own clan isn't that fun?! In the end we all buy the game and there arent any clan features yet until I would find out they aren't released yet and will come sometime in the future. I would be really mad and dissapointed and feel cheated.

And that's how its now with GT. Most people who buy the game aren't nowhere as informed as we are.

just my 2 cents

You guys should tweet Shuhei Yoshida, president of worldwide studios and a board member (director) of Polypony Digital. He manages first party production, which includes PD. Since there is no community manager and Penrose Tackie, who usually post GT related news on the official blog doesnt have a twitter, I see no other person to contact. Here is his twitter: https://twitter.com/yosp

Shuhei is pretty active on twitter and responds even to feedback that isn't all happy feelings and flowers. If there is anyone who can get things going, it's him. Send a tweet asking where the community features update(s) for GT6 are. Let's make some noise and maybe we at least can get some semi-inofficial "I'll look into it" or something of the sort!

Comments from Sony should be treated as official. Also congratulations for figuring out how customer feedback works.
Sure, PD should come to your home directly, but this isn't much less convenient.

If there is an update today...

While Shuhei Yoshida works for Sony and even on a rather high position, I wouldn't go as far as saying anything he says on twitter should be considered official(if that was what you were getting at). And why the sarcasm? I'm informing people who aren't satified with the product they bought, lacking promised features, how to communicate with a person from Sony who can take a closer look at the matter and perhaps get some info to us. If you made the argument that it's not the best way to go about it, fair enough. But you didn't. Not sure what to make of the last sentence.

I gave up expecting any news about updates following the fiasco about the misleading date for Part 2 of the Red Bull events.

I highly doubt there will be a significant update this month anyway.

The sarcasm is because this is surely stating the obvious, and yet it eludes many people.

A lot of people just bawl and whinge on sites like this and then complain they're not listened to. They ought to be using the official channels, e.g. the Playstation forums (which are preferable to twitter in many ways) if they actually want their message to be seen.

Shuhei Yoshida works for Sony, Sony is the publisher of this game; traditionally, publishers handle all the PR etc. Therefore his comments on the game are official. He might not be the best person to ask, but if he gives comment (he's more likely to not say anything), you can bet it's passed through the Sony PR filter in some way.

Another example: when I wanted to contact T10, I had to go through Microsoft. I didn't get a response, of course... (it probably stopped with Microsoft somewhere).

I am really frustrated with this generation (PS3 and now the new generation (PS4). The attitude is release it and fix it later. I mean it is the same with almost every bit of tech that comes with software. We are all Alpha and Beta testers and have been for the past 7 years. Even my Sony W6 series TV is the same, buggy, with the YouTube app working only 10% of the time despite numerous firmware updates.

We got a Beta GT5 and now the same with GT6. It is great that we will get more features and the game will improve, but this business model that all game/software devs have is not sustainable, consumers are growing tired.

Anyway, as a sucker that I am I will wait patiently and take any updates that come.

Wow so many people disappointed. Glad I'm not. :sly:

Although very funny my laptop got an update, I wonder if GT6 will get it later on today. Hmm.

I just left a comment to Shuhei. He's an awesome guy, if I have an answer, I'll let you know guys.
But we also need to be a community if we want to get results, a lonely and solitary question by one random dude will possibly do no effect at all. I will use the #GTPlanet too in the future.

Is the entire forum gonna go into rage mode every Tuesday? It would be less troublesome to switch to another racing franchise like Forza than to do this.

Software in the 90's weren't free from bugs and glitches. And I bet software in the 80's weren't either.
