It's now March; where is our promised community update?

That's right. Each PD employee typed one character and coloured a handful of pixels in the image. That's exactly how marketing works at a development studio owned by a much larger entity acting as publisher.
I think the main point (no sarcasm in this post FYI) was that they have a media specialist and yet they rarely, actually never to my knowledge, acknowledge any customer. It's just a post that's left in the dark, no different than our current situation... A game left in the dark..

This is the info we've received from GTP News, and it may or may not have been correctly translated from what Kaz actually said.

"A new track is coming for Gran Turismo 6, set to be released some time in February."

"Although the Sony and Polyphony Digital representatives on-hand at the event kept most of the details about the location secret, they did confirm we’ll be learning more about it in an update coming to the game this February."

"Based around the town of Zahara de la Sierra in Andalusia, Spain, the new track will be the longest in GT6 - longer than even the Nurburgring Nordschleife’s 26km of tarmac. As previously announced, it will be released in February, along with the Red Bull X2014 Standard and X2014 “Fan Car” models."

Note that the information seems to have some discrepancies. Also, I've been told that Kaz said the track would be around 27km which means it won't actually be "the longest in GT6".

I think PD's once-in-a-blue-moon, vague, one-sentence statements may be getting mistranslated, meaning the obscenely low amount of communication we are getting may not even be correct.

I'm not going to pretend to know exactly what their "media" arrangement is. Presumably Sony have a distributed and shared network to call upon, but they still need to communicate with PD themselves.

On the other hand, they don't know who or where you are, or the same for anyone else. As a customer, you could go to their shop and ask some questions. In this case, that would be anything with Playstation on it, probably their forums.

Sure, they could target sites like this, but that's giving preferential treatment to a minority, and as I was recently informed, the majority control the minority, so I don't actually know where that leaves us. Genuinely.

Oh I'm not pretending either. But someone is behind the keys of those posts. GT, PD, or SCEA, someone that can read and write is creating those posts, but there is no communication present between anyone publicly (to my knowledge).

And like you said, anything with playstation on it is their official forum. Well, GT is an exclusive, and just like all those, they all have their own forum on the Playstation forum, not their own on their own site...

So who is to say they monitor that forum either? I dunno.... It's just the lack of any effort exerted to reach out. I feel as if what goes on is what interests those who work for PD. I don't know if they have an R&D team, or a specific group of people who see what we, not just us GTP'ers but others, want. I feel as if it's like Bob said "hey Tom, did you see that Subaru released the ___ pictures yesterday?" Tom said "Yeah, I saw that, maybe we should put that in-game." Bob said "Yeah, I like that."

I really don't know.. And no one knows I think. So it's kinda upsetting to see things happen on the fly, without no evidence or something to show to the customers about what currently influences them and causes them to take these actions...

It's all well and good taking community feedback into account, but it's a very different thing to actually "do what the community wants". For starters, it's only ever going to be a cross-section of the community whose wants are fulfilled.

No, GT is not a community-made game, and I don't think it strictly needs to be. I just don't think that model is suitable for all games, and it's really not amenable to creativity in general. We need some weirdness in the world.

Would I like to know when the update's coming? Of course, but that's not really the same thing. I'm sure PD / Sony are aware that we are waiting for the track, but if "February" has been mis-communicated by our benevolent overlords here, they may not even be aware there's an issue to that end...

I don't want pd to obey our every command I just want them to make the obvious good design choices that they seem to be blindly ignoring in the pursuit of weird unneeded features like star maps and moon rovers.

Well it does appear that February is going to pass us by without the 'promised' track or feature updates. I don't mind so much if they is a delay, all I want really is to be treated with a little respect and be told so. It is disappointing that communication from PD is so poor. I had hopes that may be changing when they started posting notices about the hotfixes, but alas it seems not.

Right, I agree completely. It should not be by our demand, but it should be by general consensus.
As such: we the community would like to see a more rounded form of online multiplayer, with a large array of options for community racing, leagues, and other events.

Then PD would respond with whatever that may be. It isn't "I want the 2014 Ferrari 458 Spyder in the game" and PD listens to our every order, like you mentioned. It has to be a general consensus observed by PD. And the only issue I've ever noticed is the sounds where they have brought this up countless times, and they have only acknowledged us in return as, "this is something we have noticed and are currently working on. The reason being...." as we have heard what is plaguing them. All I ask for, is some information to be released about the progress of things. I don't want it to be one big over load of information on one day, and then silent the next month, as we have now..

So they're posting crap like this on Facebook instead of working on GT6? What a pathetic joke...
Yeah, because the people running the US GT facebook fan page are the same ones who work on the game...

Late to the slam party.

Of we ignore updates and marketing fantasy junk like a track and car, there were 2 Offical releases;

1) Vettle X challenge
2) New track

Neither could be delivered on time despite a month between announcement and planned release.

This is not late, this is shear incompetence. Forget about the mysterious timeframes for missing features and patch updates... And I'm pretty certain these features will have announcements well in advance.

I've read 2 news updates in the past month. One was on autoblog last week about GT 5 servers shutting down, the other this week about unplanned GT 5 maintenance. The left hand is clearly doing something diffrent than the right...

Why don't Polyphony Digital just communicate with the community? I mean, in all seriousness, this isn't 1997 any more. I'm beginning to think we're being treated with contempt. It's just not acceptable.
The next update will come in two weeks, Kaz says. Oh wait, somethings aren't letting it be possible, so in the next 1-2 months the next update will be released.

Yeah, that's how it usually goes (or would go) if Kaz said what he wished to be true, as we do.

I think PD shouldn't have said anything about the update, because now, everyone's waiting for it. If they didn't say anything, we'll be surprised with the update and we'll all be happy!

Maybe they decided to work on making the Supra premium, also add the E30 and E36 M3, 1M, the new M5, plus adding interior to the semi-premium Ruf line up. And maybe they are finally adding the real sounds now and getting rid of the placeholders. That's why they got delayed...

...Okay, I also need to sleep now... Been working all day...

we can dream!

I don't see that it should be by consensus, either. Remember, we are the minority here - furthermore, we have minorities within this minority. Also, by consensus, everything is beige. Broken stuff is a different matter.

The sound update is clearly something they've done as part of their vision for the game; there were clues back in 2007, and the new sounds are already in the game, technically. ;)
Kaz voluntarily mentioned their working on sounds last May, which prompted Jordan to ask about it at E3. That was not part of the round table interview with the press, if I remember correctly.

If they "release" a reason, it'll be vague. People will accept it (or protest at these mere excuses provided as explanation), and then just get progressively more antsy again until the next time PD let us know they still exist. I think it's pretty obvious they still exist, personally. I'd also like to know technical stuff about what's going on, not just platitudinous reassurances, but I'm pretty sure the consensus would differ on that front... Plus that would take time.

There's still the possibility that this February promise is a case of crossed wires, as the news post is a tiny bit contradictory in the details. But there is the small issue of cars and tracks every month (although Shuhei Yoshida and Kaz never stated which month they would start...) I think it's indicative of a major technical problem.

Anyway, we could all be using our time more constructively, I suppose, but we've all chosen to waste it here instead! :D
I did design a V5 yesterday, though. Sort of.

Ok ok....Read this below and take with a grain of salt, it comes from Wikipedia, so I CAN NOT confirm how accurate it may be. :ill:
It relates to GT5, not GT6, BUT, maybe they should listen to themselves once in a while. 👍
It sounds like it may be quoted from Kaz, but I can't confirm that.

"The agreement on a date comes between various parties at Sony, and it’s not necessarily a date I would be hoping for. March would've been too early. We could have produced the game in time to make that deadline, but the finished product wouldn't have had everything that I wanted to include."

Now, ok....we all know GT5 was not perfect on release as well, it needed update after update before it got to be a decent game. Again, 👍 And it was DELAYED before release.

More from Wiki....
"GT4 was delayed for over a year and a half by Polyphony Digital"

This still has me wondering, WHY the hell bring on a game that is NOT complete, then not be bothered updating it with features advertised (back of case) as well as the already mentioned "monthly updates" with tracks (?), DLC (?), removed features (Tests, 100m, 1000m etc.)...

Really, I do find it laughable, I think PD got pressured from Sony, and now we suffer. 👎

Nobody here really knows when 1.05 will come, so I'll just continue to briefly sign in every day to keep the bonus alive, do the seasonals and play EDF 2025! My new guess is that it will arrive in a fortnight with the next seasonals, and more features than we expect.
EDF! EDF! EDF!
