I should be able to make that time (when I get a new router <_<).

If you're free some time, would you like to try out my track with me in free run? (applies to anyone who's interested, as 5 opinions or so is better than having 1 or 2.)

If you want a track with certain specifics (for possible inclusion in season 2 if the current track isn't good), such as a wide high speed track (with corners that you DO need to brake/change down for) with a certain maximum/minimum laptime, or a narrower low speed track, let me know and I'll try and come up with one. I may be able to simply widen or narrow some of my existing tracks.

I will do Joe 👍

Also, I've been thinking. We made this way too complicated from the start with two divisions, it's just too much to take on and this mid season confusion is slightly ridiculous. I'm considering cancelling the remainder of the season and starting afresh for season 2, December sign ups, green flag in January.

So we'd have just the one division running (at 7pm EST on fridays I presume)? I'm guessing the season would be longer too, and including tracks that were in one series and not the other (Suzuka, Madrid etc) and one or two course maker tracks.

EDIT: and maybe a wet to dry race or two in there somewhere.

Yes, longer season, one division with maybe just the one course maker track to allow more real world courses I originally wanted. And wet races would be a good idea 👍

I'm unsure whether to stop yet, it just seems really unorganized and nobody has any clue what they're doing. Dual divisions is a bad idea for this reason.

Maybe add a poll to the OP to see what everyone thinks.

I'd probably go for starting over with a season 2, as it's not much fun when there's only 4 or 5 cars on the track. For Daytona Superspeedway, to reduce the potential for incidents, we could possibly lower the horsepower a bit more or increase the weight. (I'd probably go for weight)

I also think more weight at Daytona seems the best plan. I'll add a poll to the OP, please vote up gents 👍

EDIT: Going to make a decision by tonight hopefully.

Well....I suppose so. For season 2 I'm going to put up a time and stick with it, probably Friday nights around this timeframe. What do you think about the poll mate? 👍

So far it's 3 votes for moving on to season 2, and 0 for continuing. So about 1/4 of the people who turned up to race have voted currently.

In other news I had another attempt at making a flat out circuit, and finally succeeded :dopey: . I was still using the road course regulations and racing soft tyres, but if we actually end up racing on it I will lower the horsepower so that the dirty air from drafting won't be an issue. As for speeds, I was hitting 214mph offline, and I presume that 215mph would be possible online with low fuel. Reduced horsepower would aim to reduce the solo speeds to 205mph.

Hey guys!

If you are really planning to change race time to fridays 19:00EST, I CAN RACE!

And at late fridays, there is NOBODY home, so my internet might just work out a lot better than it was in my first Indy endeavour. If you are really changing, I would like to, if possible, make an attempt at a race, and see if I can race properly, what would be awesome!

Speaking of custom tracks: Tom, you told me you really enjoyed that track of mine: Feyhill Circuit. I do have some tracks created, and if you are interested I could share them all [one by one], so you give'em all a try and maybe there is any that suits your likes. I would feel most honoured to see a track of mine in your schedule.

Regards,

I am also loaded with custom tracks (I've got 71 of them), as I used to race with some guys in a Track Creator Racing League.

So we're definitely not short on custom tracks to try. >_>

For now I guess we just wait to see the results of the poll. Since it seems likely that moving onto season 2 will be the decision, I suppose the next step will be to come up with a time that the majority of us can make, and then after that perhaps start working on a race calendar.

Track Creator Racing League?!

Damn, I have never heard about that. Joe, I guess I removed Indy guys from my list to open room for B-Spec grinders, since I was not racing this season anymore, but I want to try some of your tracks! Can I add you again?

Regards,

Go ahead and add me again. Basically this is what it was: every week/2 weeks we decided on a kind of car to race with (might be a specific car, or cars that fall under certain categories etc) and then tested each other's created tracks to find one we liked and suited the cars, and then raced on that for the rest of the week/2 weeks.

We usually made 2 or 3 tracks each to try for every new car/track combination.

We kinda folded when the 2 main members both had to move house at the same time.

Ok guys, I may add two course creator tracks, one of Joe's best and Feyhill Circuit from leonardo. Try it out Joe, has great flow and a very dramatic final sector.

I voted cancel, just waiting for a few more.

Since I have so many tracks, do you want a certain kind of track?

My tracks range from the flat out track I made today for our regulations, to tight twisty tracks, and kart tracks for small cars.

I'll try out Feyhill once we're back on each other's friends lists.

EDIT: One of the limitations for the track creator league was that all circuits should be 3 sectors only and not take longer than a minute and a half or so to do a lap. I didn't really like this rule, as it limited what you could create, but I stuck to it.

If that is not much to ask, I would like you to pick like 4 favourites. To bound your choice, pick at least one that is long [over 5 miles] but not very twisty. I usually try tracks with LMPs, and it feels great to wind through high speed corners.

Regards,

You really don't want to race any of my tracks that are over 5 miles. <__< I made the 5 or 6 that I have when I first messed around with camber. The tracks from the league were all under 3 miles long.

As a general request Joe, I'd like a medium length track (3+ miles) with mostly high speed corners, although a technical section could be added if you feel it works 👍

EDIT: 4 votes now, looking like it's going that way.

In that case I'll be making a brand new track. I'll go for fast and flowing, with a slow first corner (less accidents than making it high speed, apparently), and try to add a technical section. It'll either be at Eifel or Toscana.

How wide do you want the track to be?

EDIT: Toscana may be the best choice actually, as Eifel doesn't give many high speed corners.

I'd go for Toscana, love the scenery round there and Feyhill is already at Eifel. I prefer a tight track personally, requires a bit of skill to get round unscathed with heavy damage and demands concentration 👍

I haven't tried any of my tracks with the FGT (let alone our road course settings) apart from the flat out one, so you might want to use a different car on them.

EDIT: Uploaded "Taking the Plunge". A (mostly) simple, fast track of 2.41 miles.

My thoughts on 'Taking The Plunge' are that it's a great track with good flow and you're right the downhill sector is really good fun. F1 would be a lot more interesting if the tracks were like this :sly: Not too keen on the last corner though, it's slightly off camber and you have to be very careful not to throw it into the wall.

I wasn't able to do anything to fix the last corner without completely changing the section that starts at the bottom of the hill. I found the best line round the last corner to be around the outside of it.

Toscana is proving hard to make the kind of track we're after, I may switch to Eifel if my next attempt also fails. I may try a couple of my pre-existing tracks.

Every track I make seems to always have one corner that you can't get right. The one that I just finished making is fine apart from the last corner, which is off camber. Fixing it will ruin the fast flowing final sector, much like with Taking The Plunge. I set the camber to as high as it will go and even tried widening the track all the way for that sector, but that doesn't help it enough.

EDIT: Yep, I'll have to dumb down the final sector. I'll try and make another 1 or 2 tracks, and then get some of us online at some point next week (or maybe sunday night, I'm not sure if I'll be free) for a bit of track testing.
