That seems to be the main problem with course maker. I'm gonna give it a go and see if I can get any half decent tracks.

Cheers smuffy, If we can get 8 or more guys I'd consider running this season. As of now we have 6 and a pace car.

Drivers who can make 19:00 Eastern on Fridays
Tom
Knelly
Jakob
Rich
Niop
Berty (Pace)
Smuffy
Leonardo

Drivers Who Can't
JT
Ronin
Jim
Cowboys

Who was it saying that their DTM league started with 3 people, and now has 15, was it Smuffy or J_Tuner? Like one of them said, you have to wait, I think the original stuff would be better if we could get more people. :)

^ and I can't make the Friday night races either.

Tom, as said before, you can put down my name in this list. Just write something as (uncertain) by it. You know that, incase I get this lag thing fixed, you will probably get tired of me because I will show up everytime!

Regards,

It was JT, he runs the DTM series. And I do understand your point, but it's tricky for this to get off the ground, all the interest is in the US and that means we have to run at tricky times to fit with the time difference 👎

EDIT: Which series do you run on Fridays Cowboys? Just out of interest :)

Oh I see, I was actually thinking about entering that in the Jaaaaag, but it's a bit late in the UK. And anyway, our new time is a 19:00 EST race start, races last less than an hour and your AMLS doesn't even start qualifying till 20:45 so you can easily make it! :sly:

I've put the other track online Tom. I had 2 ideas for the one that you've already downloaded, but changed it to how it currently is. Instead of having 4 medium to high speed corners, I changed them to the 2 long sweeping turns.

I'd quite like to see a race on my track that is flat out in these cars, I might put that up for download next. When you try it, just remember to reduce the HP a little from the road course settings (maybe try 600BHP instead of 650BHP) and use racing softs (I haven't tried it on comforts yet so I'm not sure about using them).

OK Joe I'll try it out tomorrow, thanks for dropping by tonight 👍 I'm unsure what to do, I already have 5 votes to cancel but if Cowboys can make it that's 8 drivers :indiff:

I don't feel like racing 2 enduros one after another and having to worry :(

I'll try making another track or two. Of the 2 that I've done for us so far, I prefer "Indy Toscana 2". If you use the road course settings for my tracks, increase the max speed at the bottom right by one click, as I've hit 211mph on one of them, and hit 214mph on one that I couldn't fix.

I had a quick run around there and it is a good track although I had little time to test. I think the longer one is the better of my tracks, and by the way I did add camber to that left hander so it banks slightly.

Looks like all the votes so far are to cancel S2 and pick up S2 in January. Maybe that's the best way to go. We could do some more testing and get some more ideas, as well as figure out the best day/time for US and UK drivers. That will give me some time to figure out my internet situation as well.

That'd also give me time to get a new router and hopefully fix my issues.

Also, how were my transmission settings for Suzuka and Madrid?

It seems it's been a bit of a landslide, so I'm inclined to agree. Consider Season 1 officially cancelled, but I've learnt from all the mistakes we've made and S2 will be more organized, streamlined and improved generally.

I'm thinking mid December sign ups for a January start, in the mean time I've created a Discussion thread in the interest checks forum so you can ask any questions. But it's also so we can all chat to each other and keep this group of core drivers together for next season, Cheers guys :)

Why not just call the next one real season 1 or something?

OK guys, I was watching the thread all yesterday but not able to post as had company, plus the NASCAR Monza race (which was awesome with 14 racers).

It's a very tough decision to make due to the amount of hard work that has been put in by a number of people, plus the dedicated drivers we do now have, albeit over two divisions.

However, for the interest of getting this to work right, I think starting again is the best way forward. The tough problem is getting a time to suit all (which will never happen) so we have to accomodate for most. There are always going to be one or two that are dissapointed but that's the nature of US / UK timezones I suppose.

This WILL become an awesome series, the way Drops NASCAR one has become. It did take a Season to get to where we are now with the group of racers we have, but it was simpler in that there was only one division / race per week, at a set time.

Midnight Friday, seems to work for most, but if we are able to tweak it to accomodate others that can't make it, that would be great. For those that can't at the moment, I promise we will do all in our power to get the best possible time for everyone, but we will have to make a decision at some point.

It's a shame postponing this Season 1, but I think it will benefit us in the long run to get a better Season 1 in place for January.

An alternative springs to mind, Drops NASCAR finishes 4 Feb, so after that, Saturdays at 10:00 GMT / 5:00 EST will become available and a nice filler when that series finishes???

Maybe in the other thread we need a Poll with about 5 or 6 different times to vote for, and then work from there.

Just want to put thanks out as well, to all the dedicated Indycar racers we have in this series, and thank you for your support. And suggestions are always welcome guys to get this back up and running.

Peace out 👍

Cheers Knelly for all your support so far, I agree that this will be a great series in the future. The Saturday timeslot is a good idea even though we'll have to have a long hiatus, as long as we can keep everybody together and maybe some occasional racing on the discussion thread ( https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=232665 ) it shouldn't be a problem. I'll take suggestions for times and put a poll up in the next week or so mate 👍

If anybody has any questions or ideas please post them in the interest thread rather than here from now on 👍

That was a cue to let the thread die ;) I answered you on the interest check thread mate.

Mods are free to lock this 👍

I agree with knelly. As my time is very limited with my first child at 4 months old, time is unpredictable. But one thing I know is that I have total reign of video games on Saturday. So maybe to better suit some good drivers, restart after the sprint cup series, and I won't miss a race.

Our first season definitely had some events with a very low turnout. But, you just have to keep running events, and finding ways to get new drivers interested. We ran events in public lobbies, with long open practice sessions before the race started. We had several people stumble into our public room to race with us. That helped us find quite a few drivers that ran well, joined our league, and even joined GTPlanet to continue racing with us. Keep running events, and you'll eventually get the drivers you want and need to support this great series.

Good to see you guys want to keep this going.

I'd suggest changing over to racing mediums/racing hards as the two compounds. It would add grip to a very slidy, mischievous car. When I sat and watched the Laguna seca race, it seemed like every other car that came by was fish-tailing. :sly:
