As if the car's not portly enough, we need to send drive to the front wheels too?

That's kinda like saying "Wiston Churchill is portly enough..."

Sure. But my god he can still perform :lol:

The shooting brake with a AWD system is acceptable. :lol:
I mean, I'd prefer a shooting brake with a AWD system than RWD. The coupé with a AWD sounds wrong (personal opinion).
Too bad the shooting brake is not an official Jaguar concept.

I'd love to see that happen. I can't remember the last Jaguar that had an available manual & the cars they've been selling over the last couple years don't really strike me as ones that would be anymore interesting.
The new XE will be available with a manual, it's possible that they'll use the same gearbox for the F-Type.

6 Speed Manual, F-Type RS, British Racing Green or The blue on the XKR-S... please please please!!!!
Oh you mean French racing blue? :lol:

I'd say 8spd sequential with a nice quick shift, some aero from the P-7 and most of all. Nooooise!!!!!

Thats the one! I wouldn't mind a flappy paddle option, but for me the manual tops it anyday! Aero from P7, definately! I want to see that bodywork behind the drivers seat xD and Noise, of course!

Disregarding what that comparison says for the F-Type's looks ( :P ), yeah, you've got a point; Churchill probably shouldn't have packed on yet more weight!

The F-Type is already a heavyset competitor in the "true sports car" category; it weighs something approaching 200kg more than an equivalent 911. Adding all-paw gubbins won't help that.

Jaguar: Grace, Pace and Space.
Jags have always been a bit on the heavy side, must be that "space" part in their motto. My V12 XJS weighs in at just over 4000lbs!

I'm currently sat outside a jaguar dealership and there's a nice pair of F Types on display. :sly:

It's only when you see them up close that you truly appreciate their jaw dropping good looks. :drool:
If I could have both, I would take the coupe with the manual and V8S for track use and the open top with the V6S, 8speed auto and all wheel drive for easy all weather fun. ;)

(Apologies for the less than perfect photo)

They don't make a manual version...

I too wish for one, but I'm skeptical.

I also wish for an F-Type that weighs less than 1500kg...

Think about this car's target demographic. Most of the people who buy this car are the Gucci wearing, fake tan sporting, screwing the estate's pool boy types.

To them, AWD means safety, just like their Lexus. Of course they want that option. The car could weigh 3 tons for all they care.

I'm up for corrections just to make this as accurate as possible:

F-Type V6 Coupe
$ 65,000
340 hp
1,577 kg (3,477 lb)

*this is the cheapest and lightest F-Type*

Porsche 911 Carrera
$ 84,300
350 hp
1,380 kg (3,042 lb)

*this is the cheapest and lightest 911*

F-Type S V6 Convertible
$ 81,000 ($77,000 for the coupe)
380 hp
1,614 kg (3,558 lb)

*this is the F-Type closest in price to the cheapest 911*

Porsche 911 Carrera 4(AWD)
$ 91,030
350 hp
1,430 kg (3,153 lb)

*with AWD added, the price of a standard 911 goes up $6,730 and gains 50 kg (111 lb)*

For the sake of messing around with the best:

F-Type R V8 Coupe
$ 99,000
550 hp
1,650 kg (3,638 lb)

*this is the most expensive and most powerful F-Type*

Porsche 911 Carrera S
$ 98,900
400 hp
1,395 kg (3,075 lb)

*this is the 911 closest in price to the most expensive F-Type*

Porsche 911 Carrera 4s(AWD)
$ 105,630.00
400 hp
1,445 kg (3,186 lb)

*AWD added, price goes up $6,730 and once again gains 50 kg (111 lb)*

If the rumour is true and the F-Type does get an AWD option, then we will most probably see an increase in weight and price. While we do not know what the price of the option will be, the Type R will journey into the $100k market, which will then put it up against the likes of:

Audi R8 V8 Coupe
$ 116,150
430 hp
1,560 kg (3,439 lb)

*closest R8 price-wise*

Audi R8 V10+ Coupe
$171,795
550 hp
1,635 kg (3,605 lb)

*closest R8 performance-wise*

I doubt the Jaguar will get into $150k+ numbers. I could be wrong, eh. And we still don't know how much it will increase in weight. But so far, it's looking pretty decent for the F-Type.

Was I talking to you? He said a lot more than they are 40-50 and won't track their car much. I have been going to the track for over 40 years and have never seen a new car in this class on track. You rarely see a car less than 5-10 years old on the track, not one in the price point we are talking about here.
First. You posted this on a public forum, therefore I have a right to talk even without your permission.

Second, and what does this prove? People where you are aren't the standard. I often see new cars on track (highlight being an Ariel Atom 3.5) and have seen cars costing more being used on track such as the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.

The point I'm making is the car is about style and the occasional burst of acceleration for the most part, according to Jaguar's audience. And you're right, he did say more than 40-50 who don't do trackdays but have you ever heard of hyberbole? Google it, kid.

Can we not let this get personal, please? :rolleyes:

On topic: I agree with the opinion that all wheel drive doesn't go with the looks of the car. It may well get it but, I just can't picture all 4 wheels spinning with them looks. :drool:

That being said, if someone said I could have an F type but it had to have all wheel drive, I wouldn't say no. :lol:

You completely missed the point, but somehow that doesn't surprise me coming from someone who has to explain to his mommy the pic he uses for his avatar.
You missed my point too. You cannot attack someone personally and call that an argument.

You are also not the norm. Just because you haven't seen something, doesn't mean it never happens. Clear?

And yes, I'm 16 and live with my parents. Oh shock horror isn't it? Woooooow I'm the only 16 year old to do so... Oh sorry no I'm not

Oof, paired off with decade-old X-types. Talk about the definition of mixed feelings...

Last night I was discussing the F-type with two friends. Both very intelligent. One even has a very high IQ and has a very difficult job at the SCK, CEN as a researcher.

When the Porsche 911 came up - guess who brought up the Porsche :D - they both said they would take the F-type over the 911 any time. :irked:
