Yup this thing looks sweet cant wait to see pricing and an in-person pass.

The push-to-pass button reminds me of something from NFS or the fast and furious...

Why's everyone posting pictures of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage? I want to see this new Jaguar...

It's definitely a nice looking car but I know what you mean. A couple of design bods on twitter haven't been too overwhelmed because it's more a new take on an old theme than it is a complete clean-sheet design like the XF and XJ.

I'm glad to see a few C-X75 cues have made it though.

I actually inspired the naming style for the C-X16. :D

...OK, maybe not, but I think it looks...well, it's not the prettiest thing I've ever seen. I wanna say it's...fat, but slick. If that makes sense

The soft rear roofline resembles the E-type coupé, whilst the muscular hood reminds me of the Ferrari 599 and the belt line is soft but quite pronounced at the rear end like the Alfa Romeo 8C.

They've managed to get fantastic styling cues from pretty cars and blend them into something that is pure modern Jaguar.

Looks absolutely fantastic.

I think it kinda looks like a sport model Ferrari California or 599. The tail lights are ok, but I'm sure they could of come up with something else

Anyway, the idea of "push to pass" is nothing new. They've had it in automatics for years, it's called "kickdown". And it's in the even more convenient position of under your right foot.

But this isn't kickdown, this is a KERS style electric boost as this is a hybrid drivetrain.

I think it looks fantastic, keep the V6, loose the hybrid tech (keep weight down) and give it a proper sports car gearbox (6 speed, short throw manual). And a black interior.

I bet the "Venturi effect tail" is about as useful as it is on every other similar car.

It's the best looking Jaguar, and if it's lighter than the others, it will be my favorite. But it's not as nice as a DBS.

Think more sub V8 Vantage level. This is Jag's small sports car. It has been rumoured under the name of 'F-Type' for years.

Having said that, TG Mag is calling it a 911 rival, just a tad bigger than a Cayman. If it stays at £50k, it will be a lot cheaper than a 911.

When I'm turning a steering wheel, I like it to be fairly consistent all the way around. I wouldn't like to be turning and then have the odd feeling of grabbing an area with a depression and a button in it, irrespective of whether it's accidentally pressable or not.

You're not going to like the fact there's spokes getting in the way and that bump on the other side of the wheel from the push to pass button....

You misunderstand.

It's a hybrid system which makes use of an electric motor to add the power when you press the push to pass button. Kickdown......:dunce:

I really should start putting a ;) smily after more of my posts...

That aside, it's not like it isn't still largely redundant. If a car is going to have hybrid tech in the first place then make it do something useful, like allow it to crawl around town without the engine on. The very fact that the car is automatic and has a kickdown function for overtaking (let's face it, if you're overtaking you're going to push your foot down harder... and engage kickdown) means an extra button for even more power is a bit pointless.

However "cool" people think it is having a big red button on the steering wheel is, it's still a daft gimmick.

The spokes are there for necessity and as virtually every other manufacturer on the planet proves, they're in a perfectly good position for putting buttons on.

And don't get me started on it having a flat-bottomed wheel. For anything with more than a single turn lock-to-lock, flat-bottomed wheels are stupid.

I bet the "Venturi effect tail" is about as useful as it is on every other similar car.

On high performance cars, when combined with a flat floor (as more and more modern cars are getting), they're very useful for stability at high speed.

So quite useful then.

I'm pretty familiar with them. I was poking fun at what I took as an attempt to make it a rear diffuser sound more complex/unique than it is.

Push-to-pass button? That sounds like one of the best automotive options that I've ever heard of, although I would almost certainly fry to electric motors from over use.

That's hot. [/paris]

How much?
The site I read estimated it to be around 50,000GBP which is around $80,000, I think.

What gets me though is that this car was touted as Jaguar's affordable, entry level car. But, if it's going to start at $80,000 though, it might as well just be the new XK as you can pick one of them up for $85,000. It almost looks like Jaguar would be pulling an Acura move.

All of this corporate styling business is starting to ruin cars for me, especially the fronts. I can't help but feel like I've seen the front of this car somewhere, which is a shame. It looks awesome but doesn't really look like anything new to me.

But everything after the front fenders is just . Perfect proportions at the back.

Everybody always praises the Italians for making very stylish cars but I'm thinking the British are up there too, and nobody gives them as much credit.

HOT!! I WANT ONE.. NOW!!

I was gonna say this car had good genes, but then it hit me.

Am I the only person here who finds this car... well... not stunning? Sure, it's very pretty but it's not drop dead gorgeous.

There's no curves, it's all way too sharp... I like my cars to flow nicely, like the current XK and the 8C. I don't know, curves are sexy. :)

Nope, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about myself. It's a nice enough shape, but most of the exterior styling details seem to have been executed without any real finesse. Also, it doesn't strike me as being particularly Jag-ish, it has the brawny rear haunches, but the front and back look pretty generic to me. Like a 599's less attractive little sister.

If they get a decent version of it to market for £50,000 I can see it being a really popular option against some of ze german offerings.

I just don't like that, reminds me of the Citreon GT. Just doesn't look sleek or elegant.

Definitely a sweet car, I like the motor the most, supercharged V6 with plenty of grunt.👍
