Seems like a handful round the track,It is heavy but stunning looks would still have a 911 mind
 
I beg to differ, I wouldn't even consider buying any convertible car, too showy for my taste.
There's the open to the elements aspect that's appealing but you're also open to the general public which for me has no appeal at all.
Maybe I'm just too shy (or prefer some privacy) but I also prefer the cocoon feeling of a closed car, and they did invent airco for a reason.

Agree, though to be fair in one of my open-topped experiences I rode across the beach side road in an convertible Opel Kadett alongside a bald middle-aged man, trauma ensues. :lol:

Anyways, the coupé will finally evoke even more of the classical E-Type shape. I see magazines praising it over the convertible, but I believe that the market will beg to differ, as long as there is not a very significant price difference.

These are the first images of the Jaguar F-type coupé caught testing, ahead of its expected on-sale date next year.

The F-type coupé is expected to be powered by the same range of V6, V6 S and V8 engines offered on the drop-top, as well as be the initial basis for more extreme versions of the car, ranging from S and RS models through to an extreme 600bhp Jaguar F-type RS-GT road racer.

The spy shots, taken just outside the firm's Gaydon base, show the F-type coupé to be almost identical to the original C-X16 concept, which launched the idea of a new Jaguar sports car, and the recently launched F-type roadster. The shift to on-road testing indicates that the car's launch would typically be 12-18 months away.

Jaguar insiders have subsequently admitted that the CX1-6 concept car was designed after the production versions of the F-type were completed, as they were conscious of not producing a concept car that was more flamboyant than the production version. The unusual decision to launch the roadster first was taken because it was perceived to have a large market and deliver a better image for the firm's halo model.

The spy images follow a week of intense speculation regarding the F-type coupé, after pictures purporting to be trademark images of the car surfaced. Jaguar subsequently denied they were of the production car, insisting they showed the original Jaguar C-X16 concept.
 
Am I the only one who wants to see an FIA GT version of this?

Just wait until the disguise comes off when it's revealed at either Frankfurt or Paris later this year.

Jaguar's famous new sportscar had everything in its favor. Not only is it as good looking as a concept car, but it has legendary heritage in the form of the E-Type, a car that captured many people's hearts and imaginations.

The F hasn't even entered production yet, and already one has been crashed. How is that possible? Well, every time a new model comes out, manufacturers build demo cars to wow the press and maybe find a few loose ends. One such press car was being driven a little to fast by one yet unknown British publication and subsequently crashed into a stone wall. Just goes to show you ESP won't save you if you have it turned off. How knew?

The story first popped up on the PistonHeads forum and was picked up by Motoramic, a blog for Yahoo Autos. We don't know anything about the crash other than that nobody was injured and that the F-Type was racing two other cars.

If we were betting men, we'd wager the front left chassis needs to be replaced, an expensive job to say the least.

Obviously difficult to tell from the picture, but likely Wales as this is one of the favourite locations for the UK journos... The car is the V6S seen in almost all the UK magazine tests over the past month. And it will be one of the bigger publications (CAR/Autocar/EVO/Auto Express) if there were 3 cars in the group as these guys are the only ones with the clout to get 3 c.£80k cars together.

Well, the paddle shift automatic was great, quick, crisp shifts that made me forget that there wa sno manual option. The interior was very nice, driver focused and comfortable, but also very sporting. The handling was terrific and the transitions were great. Also, it did whatever I wanted, even when I drove it into that half-empty restaurant and spun it around in that unexplained, Jaguar-sized gap in the tables.

My dreams are bizarre.

The Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, set to go on sale in 2014, has been spotted testing.

This test mule, caught at the Nürburgring, is understood to be one of the first F-type R coupé test cars. The F-type R is expected to be the initial flagship model in the new F-type coupé range, which is expected to be revealed before the end of the year.

Power for the F-type R is reported to come from the latest 542bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that has been fitted to a number of recent performance Jaguars. Carbon-ceramic brakes also look set to be at least on the options list, given the fact that they’re fitted to this test car.

We've known for some time that a hot version of the F-type was on the development list at Jaguar, and that the car would attempt to invoke the spirit of the XKR-S GT. Engineers first experimented with the high-output V8 engines marked for use in the F-Type coupé when developing that car.

A standard version of the F-Type coupé was also recently caught testing, with our first images revealing the car to be almost identical to the original C-X16 concept shown by Jaguar.
 
I'd rather see the R-Type treatment on the V6 model. The V8 seems to be bit too much for the tyres.

I think it will be fine. Just because you've got a lot of power doesn't mean you have to use all of it all the time.
 
All the existing R models are V8s, so it makes sense to do the same with the F-Type.

Personally, I still thought it was overpriced until I saw a top end XKR is now c.£100K!!! For some reason I thought the XK was an £80k car :lol:

Late to the party on this, but that's only the XK-RS that's £100k. I think the regular XK starts around £60k. So I'd still call the F-Type expensive.

It is quite exoensive you're right. Desirable, but for what it is it's expensive.

Yes, you're right - c.£65k fr a base XK... which look pretty good value next to the F-Type.

I've only seen 2 of these on the road so far and they do look quite nice in the flesh.

Given the comments in the V8 roadster reviews, Jag are going to need to find a way to give the R type a load more traction. And I'm guessing the price is going to be pretty astronomical to create a gap to the regular (and very expensive) regular V8. Should make an awesome noise :)
