January 2024 prediction thread

Here's my prediction,
5 cars:
Genesis VGT (and its possible racing derivative)
A JDM sports car (Evo 8 or 9, Skyline R31, Nismo Z Tune or CRS, GTR R35 early or 24 model)
European sports car (F430 Scuderia, F12 TDF, Audi R8 V10 2016)
European Classic sport/racer (2002 Turbo, RUF Yellowbird, Delta Rally car, 037, Quattro Rally car)
Japanese racer/classic racer (Toyota 7, Toyota GT One, Amemiya Asparadrink GT300...)
No track.
Scapes
Edit: forgot to mention that I predict a fistful of events. I'd love a group 1 1h race at Le Mans, mimicking a 24h cycle like the one at Spa

Support for Fanatecs FullForce and Logitechs TrueForce FFB systems.
With Fanatec being the official wheel supplier and the DD+ shipping soon (or so they claim, still waiting here 🙃) and supposedly releasing the GT DD Extreme soon it would make sense to include this new technology.
And Logitechs TrueForce is pretty much the same thing, so might as well include it at the same time.

I might be wrong, but i do believe logitech true force is already implemented in the game.

Because I just bought this shirt, we’ll see a 2002. ;)

You know, I really wish they’d just show us what tires are current installed our cars. There’s plenty of room for it under the name of the car.

I can’t be the only one that finds it super frustrating joining a lobby, they have it set to 550pp Sports Soft. You have nothing in the range, so start getting in cars to see what tires you have and if it’ll even be tuneable to match.

“oh this one might work, it’s close… crap it’s got comfort soft on it, sports soft is way too high” onto the next.

I would sacrifice a track in an update for tune sharing and showing us what tires are currently installed on each car.

Yeah I don’t get it, they must be aware of it and I can’t imagine that it would be a big problem to implement this

What if in 2024 PD focused mainly on fixing everything that’s broken, bugged or nonsensical in the game more than giving us new content? Yes, we’ll still get some new content, but what if they primarily focus on fixing or improving things to actually work properly?

I don’t think these things are related at all.
The people modeling cars are certainly not the same ones as the people fixing connectivity issues in online lobbies.

Yeah my friend who worked on the F1 game, creating the graphical artwork and assets works in complete isolation from the developers - it's a completely different job

There’s more to adding new content than just creating the models etc. The staff responsible for the game code (usually the programmers) may be quite invested in making new content work within the game.

Thanks for stating the obvious, I guess?
Even though many people in the industry tend to do a bit of overlapping, within reason of course, and some even have the experience/ability to perform in multiple roles, that’s not what I was saying.

What I meant was more of a what if PD has staffed and budgeted for 2024 to be more focused on fixing and improving things that already exist more than giving us loads of new content. There’s plenty of stuff in the game that is bugged or needs improvement to work consistently as one would expect.

My post was more of a theoretical “what if?” not so much of a “I hope” or however you misinterpreted it. At the end of the day there’s 1 person, or likely a small group of people, that make the final decision on what gets worked on and what gets included in each update. These people have planned out ahead, at the very least in general, what these updates will include and would have obviously budgeted and staffed for whatever they’re trying to accomplish. They don’t just let everyone decide what they feel like doing then go around each month and ask what is done and can be included in the next update or whatever you’re thinking I was suggesting.

I've given up on hoping for a new track and new cars so it's just going to be the VGT and some new races I'll do once and forget about. :grumpy:

I've changed my mind, I am actually going to do a vague content prediction.

I'm thinking:

  • Genesis VGT (confirmed)
  • A Gr.3 of some kind (I'm still of the thought that we're much more likely to get relevant Gr.3s when GTWS isn't in official season because they're worried about mishandling the BoP)
  • An R34 GT-R variant, possibly the Mine's from the movie (there's two road versions of the R32, R33 and R35 now, makes sense for them to complete the set, plus we got the other movie credits car last update so the timing fits)
  • And then another road car that's completely out of the blue, as updates tend to lean road car heavy and I've only predicted one above.

No new track but they will finally ship the Suzuka branding update.

I think it’s better to post what we WONT get
On sheer numbers alone, that's much more of a challenge. There's at least a couple of thousand tracks we won't get for starters; I don't fancy listing them all...
So basically is going to be almost 3 months without an update.
We're pretty much there already, so it's not exactly Holmesian reasoning.
