Japanese Earthquake Relief DLC

It's a great idea. It's hard for people to donate for the sake of donating, mostly because it's a question of where/how. People need something to attach the donation to. No need to question motives, here.

I work at a school that operates entirely on tuition and donations, and we have all kinds of fundraisers every year. Having an event, or some kind of product gives our donors a convenient opportunity to give for a good cause. Just expecting people to randomly give out of the blue doesn't yield very good results.

PD may not be in any position to do this at the moment, though. But if they are, they could have millions of dollars in donations in short order.

Whats up with donating money to the cause and not expect anything in return, do people not donate for the sake of donating and try help someone out anymore??

Im sure the last thing on their minds right now is developing dlc...

Agreed.

Or use the stealth cars and give them a different livery, maybe Japanese styled ones to do with their culture etc, I think it's a good idea personally and would definitely buy it if they did something along those lines. Terrible tragedy.

Of course you can. If there's a will there's a way. You can even donate on your cellphone. Donate $10 and they will put that in your phone bill. Local supermarket and Red Cross.

Walk over to Red Cross and give them cash, toy, clothes. While you are there, donate some blood too.

That saying isn't always 100% correct lol.Everything closes in the city im in at 6pm,I dont get off work until 8pm.I have Sunday off, everything is closed Sunday except for the Shell Gas Station. Its currently -17 with a windchill of -27,walking is out of the question without risking frostbite.I come to work at 5am,nothing opens until 6:30am(besides Tim Hortons,THANK GOD).The only cell phone I have is my work phone(I didn't see the point in having both, especially since work phone is free:) ) which isn't payed for by me therefor I cannot do that either.See my point?lol.

Well said. 👍

If I give someone money and get something in return, that sounds pretty much like a purchase to me.

This is EXACTLY my point.

And I guess when people do charity music gig events, why do the people need to see a concert to give money, why dont they just give the money?

You would be amazed at how much more money would be raised from a DLC pack.

Sigh... I am saying if you really want to donate, there's always a way. You can give $10 to a friend or family member who has a credit card to donate it for you.

And of course you can always find reasons why you couldn't

I agree 100%. 👍 The idea is sound if they have some content already cooked up, even if they released it early for a donation and a delayed release for everyone else. Good idea OP.

Some grumpy ****ers on here have nothing better to do than complain.

Count me in as one of the "Grumpy's" then. Just donate money if you feel you should. Expect nothing in return, except maybe (hopefully) a re-homed orphan that you'll never know about. Karma.

I would be willing to bet that your local homeless shelter is open 24/7 and they ALWAYS need help. If you really wanted to donate you would find a way. Instead you people want an incentive? That is just wrong on so many levels and is a direct indication as to why the world is the way it is.

Why is everyone so set on the Chromeline and Stealth cars as DLC? If you wanted them, you should have purchased the Collector or Signature Editions.

Because not everyone could afford it or were even allowed to get a expensive version! I find that offensive

Well I find it offensive that the only way most of the people posting here would donate is if they got something in return for it... Pathetic.

I understand what your saying,I'm just pointing out there ARE people who really can't(ps.I live 4000kms away from everyone I'm associated with).I'm not TRYING to find reasons I legitimately can't,hence why paying for DLC through PSN would be good for me because thankfully Walmart is open until 11pm.
edit:I'm not saying I would want something in return either just to add,if they even had some sort of way to donate through PSN I would do it as well.

....Well we dont have a homeless shelter here, not everywhere has homeless people.I'm not sure why everyone seems to think EVERYBODY can find one way or another to donate NO MATTER WHAT.As for incentive,I agree with you about it for some people.I do not need incentive,I need a way to donate, like I said,If Sony made some sort of way to donate through PSN I would buy as many 50$(the max they sell here) PSN cards as I could afford and donate every penny.Seeing as that isn't currently an option if PD did make THIS an option I would buy as many as I could for the sake of helping, not for the sake of getting the cars.I DO want to donate but regrettably have no way currently.I dont care if you take that as an excuse or accuse me of lying or exaggerating,it doesn't make a difference to me if someone over the internet doesn't believe me.My point is,for the people in the world who can't donate due to WHATEVER circumstances, this would be another option to help them do so.See that however you want to see it.

As soon as PD announce this i'm going to my local game store to get a Network Card!
I want to help out those in need, and I want the stealth cars. It'd sort of kill two birds with one stone.

EDIT: Regarding the updated OP new stealth cars would be better. Possibly a stealth Enzo, Stealth Toyota Supra and Lexus JGTC cars and Stealth Peugeot 908 (basically cars similar to the current stealths). I don't think there is another Premium group C car to replace the Mazda so it'd have to be something random. Stealth FGT?

I'm against this.

The stealth cars are meant to be pre-order exclusives/signature edition cars.

Chromeline cars are meant to be collector's edition exclusive cars.

If DLC was available for just $10 on PSN why did people even bother buying the collector's edition?

The concept is great, but they'd have to introduce new DLC cars, not reuse old ones. Owners of the Collector's Edition of GT5, myself included, would feel ripped off if the cars that were supposedly exclusive ended up being $10 DLC cars on psn.

You may have started this reply before I finished updating the post, but please read through the whole thing.
I suggest they make a new set of CL and Stealth cars and sell them in bundles for $10.

EDIT: The reason I included that already was because I remember allot of the FM3 LCE people complaining when they made the LCE cars available for download.

Having already donated to earthquake relief, I would do this as well.

I do agree about keeping stealth/chromeline cars exclusive, even though I have none of them. PD could take some of the other premium cars and just give them special treatment.

Remember when Ferrari had their F1 cars free of livery with a black nose the race after 9/11. Do something like that with a few of the JTGC race cars.

Its alright tht the offices and the staff are fine and to do a dlc but have you really thought this through? The whole country is in trouble right now. PD have staff members, theyre not a machine. What if family members have been injured or even worse, killed? The whole country needs to pull together at this moment in time and creating content for our game, charity or not cant be high up on their list when they can go out and help those in need.

Best idea I have heard in awhile!!! I'm on board. 👍

by the time they can put out this DLC a second tokyo would already been built.

come on, just donate if you want to (although I don't think money is actually the biggest concern here)

Yes and no. I am not so sure if I want to get some goody because I donate.
That's not actually the real porpuse of donating.
But then, it's a very good idea to get my ass moving to donate at all!

I would buy any dlc for GT5 anyway, and if it's connected to any sort of donating, why not.

A little bit controversial for me but hey, better then nothing!

My sympathies to the Japanese people, but I think it's a bit premature to start throwing money at them. This is a 1st-tier country we're talking about, not Haiti or Pakistan. The poor, 2nd-tier nations will always take a disaster much worse because the infrastructure is terrible. Just look at the Haiti death toll compared with Japan so far.

The heavy toll of this disaster will be more economic than human in the long run, and that is really bad for a country.

Our hearts are in the right place, but surely Japan needs assistance in the form of military and rescue assistance instead of us chucking money at it?

Bad, bad idea.

Those who want to donate, can. I assume there's multiple automatic text donations out there (not sure) you can use. The Red Cross. If you want to donate then do so.

T10 did this same thing. Putting what was so called "exclusive" content up after the Haiti earthquake while only giving a pretty small chunk of the profits for a limited time. There are many out there who were staunch community supporters, who even stood with them after the debacle of the release of FM3 and the hoppers, who left after that.

And not because they weren't charitable people. But because it was pretty clear T10 was using the "charity" as a smokescreen to do something it had planned on doing all along. Hopefully PD will not do the expected corporate thing and repeat.

Wow, so many people against this. Why?

Isn't it natural that people is more willing to give money if they get something in return? Of course, those who want to can donate, no problem, but this is meant as a way to additionally get some money collected.

For PD the work would be minimal and the return would be great. What's so bad?

I'm gonna donate anyway, but I guess more people would donate if DLC was provided as an incentive.
It does make sense and the money generated would be well into the millions which would help Japan, especially Sendai rebuild as quick as possible.

Wouldn't mind a stealth Enzo. :P

If a DLC relief pack is offered, I'd buy it, no questions, no suggestions. I respect the spirit of the discussion, it's fun to speculate, but I can't bring myself to do that right now with everything that's happened.
