Translation: Japan and Japanese companies will contact China to ask to take down the infringing sites and that will likely be the end of it. I'd also like to add that the quoted $20b figure is not even 0.5% of Japan's GDP.

Yeah, something tells me the Chinese aren't particularly willing to carry out requests for Japan.

Thanks for pointing out what has been incredibly obvious for the past couple of years, thank you very much. Nobody could have ever figured it out, it's not like my MAL username, my tweets, or the absurd amount of shows I watch mean anything...

What he is saying I think, is compared to people that probably have more responsibilities and can't use their disposable income almost primarily on Anime/Manga/Figurines/other you can. Thus it is far more special than you seem to modestly suggest and one only has to look at your posts on here to understand this without talking to you directly.

I doubt he is putting any ill will toward you and really it just seemed like an informed post (which @Azuremen ) usually gives and you're taking it as a personal attack.

Fixed that for you. ;)

Wouldn't that be S. Korea too since they don't get along with Japan and hate when people confuse them with Japanese.

Still, compared to those that regularly buy anime, it's not that special. I've been around those people for years, and it is easy to tell my collection isn't that big (And especially not "I could never have this in my lifetime" big-I've spent around $5200 on stuff released here (Including Aniplex USA imports and Gits:Arise imports from FUNi), and like $700-$800 on imports?).

Many of these kinds of people have a package of anime arrive every week, I do not.

Also something to note earlier I didn't say to whoever reacted at the number of discs vs. sets, keep in mind combo packs are really inflating that count. On nearly all of these, the combo pack was the only way to get the BD's.

That's less then I've spent on my Guitar collection and that's with three guitars and a couple of pedals, and other stuff and that's been in the making since 2007. Hell your collection is the same price a single semester of tuition (actually my tuition is slightly more).

I think there is still some hate for Japanese people around the Asia continent because of war.

I think Japan could alleviate themselves of that hatred by admitting that their ancestors DID commit some of the most heinous war crimes and crimes against humanity in history.

If Japan want to get their neighbours on side, even with stupid little things like taking down pirate websites, apologising is a great way to start.

Japan has apologized numerous times. Unfortunately, 100% of them were disregarded because, quite frankly, they were not official enough.

To me, just like with most things, truth is somewhere in the middle. I do believe that Japan could at least give China & others more official apology. Maybe with ceremony, token, or in writing. On the other hand, I believe that countries like China & South Korea will keep rejecting the apology until it takes form of confession letter drafted not by Japan, but themselves. Even then, if their continuous reprimand of Japan for WWII atrocities stopped there, a hundred pigs will fly out of my butt.

Don't get me wrong, you can't take anything away from the war crimes my country has committed, but let's be fair & keep in mind that, to the Chinese & the South Korean Government, this Anti-Japan sentiment is a political card they overplay not just against Japan, but also used to deflect domestic criticism away from their administration.

As for getting Chinese support on shutting down piracy, all countries involved are members of the World Trade Organization. Like in the real world, if you can't play nice, you go to court.

As international relations go right now, that's not how it works. Though your suggestion is a bit comical, if that was the point .

Read the post from @a6m5, there has been an animosity between cultures for much time. I know international relations quite well, and on the subject of Japan those two don't differ in how they look at them. So requesting them to do anything due to past transgressions is out the window for Japan I'd say, probably on different levels but still. That was my point.

Also on the N. Korea front, not sure what you've read lately but China has gotten more than annoyed with NK. Anything else I'd agree China and S. Korea would differ.

All that is good to know, thank you ;)

Also I think China has gotten more annoyed with NK because NK is biting off a bit more than China can handle in terms of excuses and international relations.

That or China probably doesn't want to be as crazy as it use to be and thus distance is best between it and NK, since it is becoming a world leader of sorts.

Anyways I'm waiting to see what happens next week, and if scan sites are hit.

Actually in relatively recent times, I think China is becoming more reasonable.
I've only heard of good choices coming from them in the past 2 weeks. Tell me if I missed something bad.

No that's what I was saying, China have made good choices I'd say since the end of last year and have kept with it. So the best thing to do is distance itself from NK who are just loons.

Looks like they're truly enforcing it this time rather than idle threats the last few times this has come up, we'll see how long it last. In other words we'll see if they continue it or get lazy and then have to do this all over again in a few years time. Here is a statement from Reddit groups on it.

"The next chapter (spoiler or scanlation, doesn't matter) may be possibly delayed.

They're apparently getting strict with earliness of shipping out manga magazines, both Sunday and Magazine were affected it seems. Several places that got Jump early didn't this week."

Edit to add: Jump comes out Mondays officially in Japan, it gets leaked on Wednesdays with RAWs coming out usually between Monday and Tuesday. The fact that there are no RAWs means that the magazine wasn't shipped out at the same time as usual. Given that this is a piracy crackdown I'd say whenever the next chapter gets leaked will become the norm but don't hold your breath for today.

Meh, early releases is something that the publishers have been fighting for a while. There's not necessarily a link between the publishers tightening up their shipping chains and national Japanese policies towards piracy. If the publishers can get their deliveries down to the night before release without running the risk of some points of sale not receiving their stock on time, they will. I imagine as they get more organised and technology gets better that's exactly what will happen.
