Journalism - General Discussion

It depends mostly on the publication. There are some very good journalists being instructed to (or later edited to) produce tripe. The internet age has added to the mix with some very professional looking sites that actually accept all kinds of unedited reader contributions that fit the publisher's agenda. "White Man, Why Are You Giving Away Your Country?" was an article linked in a discussion at these forums that was, to my mind, a good example of that.
I've actually had that happen to me. I had a very respected motorsport website publish one of my comments on a previous article as an actual article. At first I though, "Well that's kind of cool." But then when I saw that the article was completely unedited, full of spelling and grammar mistakes - I had written the whole thing off the top of my head, on my phone, and not proof read it - I sort of felt like an idiot  I also realized that I hadn't been asked, which didn't really bother me, as I figured it was in the website's TOS or something, but if I had been contacted before it was published,
I defintely would have asked to have it edited, by myself or someone else.

I found this to be funny, please note that I do not consider fox or cnn credible news sources so shutting them both up would be a plus to me

Since I watch neither Fox nor CNN I'm unfamiliar with any backstory on this. Has CNN been acting butthurt over Trunp's treatment of their reporter?

The shoe is on the other foot now, I'm surprised Fox is not piling on even more at this point.

I mean Cavuto and perhaps O'Reilly are the only two I could really see doing this "victory" speech of spite. I'm not defending CNN, I've said plenty bad things about them on other threads. But this is once again one of the key issues I have with journalism, you get called out for being trite in media because of stuff like this. Because of the fact that sides were picked or are picked is why people (even Presidents) dismiss them.

So I don't see how the pot calling the kettle black is reason to celebrate

I think it's because CNN was (and maybe still is) reporting the dossier about Trump and the Russians. Regardless though, Trump isn't wrong, CNN isn't real news, especially when their website is nothing more than a bunch of click-baiting titles and irrelevant ads. Fox News isn't any better since they do the same thing. And they are both guilty of being so painfully biased in their reporting that it's more infotainment for people with a narrow minded view of politics and only want to hear how right their side is and how the other side is more or less Hitler.

Or for the super religious, how the side they're against is the coming of the beast and end of days.

CNN's top gun on the Trump.

CNN’s Jeff Zucker on Covering Donald Trump — Past, Present, and Future

It’s just unfortunate that the most powerful person in the world is trying to delegitimize journalism and an organization that plays such a vital role in our democracy.

I find this bit hard to believe, anyone in the areas know this?

One of the things I think this administration hasn’t figured out yet is that there’s only one television network that is seen in Beijing, Moscow, Seoul, Tokyo, Pyongyang, Baghdad, Tehran, and Damascus — and that’s CNN.

I'd be surprised if Al Jezzera, BBC, and whatever their local news agency is isn't televised there also. I also highly doubt CNN is shown in North Korea.

In final press conference, "Obama admits the CIA Russian Wikileaks story was fabricated."
