Are we allowed free choice of tires for race ? Or is it same rule as whatever tire you qualy on you must start on ?

Also since its a rain race is the 8 lap medium requirement still enforced for this race ?

Tyre choice will be free. If you qual on inters you may start on full wet tyres

As it will be raining there will be no minimum lap for any compound of tyre

If the race starts the same settings as the qualifying, then you should keep tires the same as qualifying for the race!

Okay, we'll have a vote on tyres for qual and race. It will close when I wake up so 9 hours so people can qualify.

1 for using different starting tyres to qual
1 for using same starting tyres as qual

Same tires if it's same settings in qualifying and race is what I'm saying. If they're different that's another story.

This needs to be brought up! The settings you have currently for the qualifying will vary the track conditions! I ran 3 different races for 4 laps over qualifying simulation and they changed from rain at the start then sunny, and rain at the start with it continuing to rain. With scenario 1 the track dried to 20%. Scenario 2 the track got wetter up to 50%+. This means someone will be screwed over in terms of starting position. Times will vary a huge 25 seconds from my testing! This needs to be addressed!

This is the natural randomness of the rain setting. Example F1 Malaysian Grand Prix's Qualifier last lap w/ Vettel. We cant control GT5 to that depth, someone will get screwed by the end of this qualifier. Isn't that why we have this rolling of the dice wet race happening? Randomness?!,.. :sly:

That makes no sense. F1 all qualified on track at once. We do it one at a time in different rooms with different hosts different times. Vettel got pole because he pit for fresh intermediate tires. If someone runs a 4 lap race and the rain stops after lap 1, they will be faster by magnitudes than someone running a 4 lap race where it rains continously. Thats not fair to anyone.

Starting a new 4 lap race for each individual qualifying massively ups the odds of huge lap time differences. Starting the actual race on 1 setting that changes the exact same way for everyone is a different scenario altogether. That's why qualifying should be 1 setting that can't change for each driver.

Thats what i said what i said but we have to follow the decision of zack and joe , ill be on tomorrow

Following a decision that's unfair and nobody wants is a sure fire way to have a poor turnout for this round.

In order to address these issues qualifying will now be run at 30% surface water 75% weather and 0 changeability. That way everyone has the same settings and it will be the same conditions

Now due to the fact qualifying and race specs are different tyre change is allowed between qual and the race.

Thanks for bringing it up.

I tested this setting last night and this would make qualifying better for all. 👍
Thank you Zach & Joe. :)

We only have 3 people signed up so far. Come on guys. :)

I'm signing onto my PS in 10 min. I will be on for most of the day if anyone wants to qualify. Send FR's to me if needed. PM me when you need to qualify. I'll be in and out of my lounge.

We're hooking them up using this setting everyone should qualifiy on inters but doesn't have too. We will definitely start the race on the tire you qualified on. If someone dives into the pits to strap on slicks and destorys their qualifier, they will have to risk being caught out in the actual race on slicks as it gets wetter!

Just give us a final decision by tonight guys , thanks .

Its only official if its all online racing like mine, lol. J/k good job Zach!

-Just to reconfirm drivers will start the race on the tires they qualify on. Room settings are 30% surface 75% weather, Changeability set to 0. You can go to the pits and strap on dry's If you like, but at the risk of starting the race on slicks for a wet race.

Just to rid any doubts here and now. Driver will be penalised for crossing pit exit line. Applying full right turn ensures the AI doesn't through you on track

Any times so far from Qualifying or testing? Lets put it like this- slicks won't work unless you're a gambling man that the rain will stop during the race, and soon. First lap will be key IMO. If you get going and in a hurry, you will set your best lap on the outlap because it's just going to get wetter and you'll slow, even on inters or wets.
