Theo Pourchaire has got a broken wrist from what looked like very light contact took him out of the F2 feature race this morning.

Nice comeback from Piastri after the DNF in the first race. The championship battle in F2 is starting to really look good now. Got to be at least 8 drivers in with a shout of winning it.

After 3 rounds, I am loving the new weekend format for F2. The feature race is on the right day and feels like it wraps up the weekend well for F2. The emphasis is still on qualifying well and the feature race, whilst 2 reverse grid races feels like it "counters" itself out quite nicely. In part at least, it is why the Championship is looking good right now as well.

He has 6 weeks before the next round so hopefully it should have healed by then.

Since he can't train with it in that time left-hand turns on a clockwise Silverstone might prove tricky.

Kart racer Corberi appeals against 15-year FIA competition ban

Luca Corberi has appealed the FIA’s decision to ban him from racing for 15 years following his controversial behaviour in a world karting championship event, with a hearing set for later this month.

Corberi was condemned by the motorsport community after a video of the 2020 world karting finals at Lonato went viral on social media, where the 23-year-old was seen throwing a bumper at fellow karter Paolo Ippolito after being involved in a collision with him on the previous lap.

In another video that emerged later, Corberi appeared to be attacking Ippolito in the parc ferme, with the incident turning into a full brawl.

Both the Italian authorities and the FIA launched an investigation into the matter, with the governing body announcing a 15-year-ban on Corberi from competing in professional motorsport at the end of April following a meeting of the international tribunal.

The tribunal said it considered a lifetime ban but deemed he should be given the chance to make a return to motorsport upon serving an initial suspension.

Now, the FIA has said that the international tribunal will sit together again on 22 June following an appeal from Corberi.

Corberi’s defence had previously argued that as the Italian authorities had already taken action against him for the two incidents, the FIA was precluded from issuing further sanctions on the same grounds.

They also argued that Corberi’s actions were “in a state of anger, determined by the unjust fact of others” after a collision with Ippolito caused him to retire from the race.

An example of skiing was also given as reference, where an athlete was banned for only a single event after being found assaulting another competitor.

During the previous hearing, the FIA tribunal had rejected Corberi’s defence, saying that the FIA has independent jurisdiction on the case and the Italian authorities were yet to take action on his behaviour.

In case you were living under a rock, here's what they're referring to:

Piastri just did a mega lap to get pole by half a second.

Despite this gap, the gap from Sato to Deledda is still bigger than Sato to Piastri.

Sato qualified 21st.

Disappointing that Piastri couldn't convert his pole in the feature race into a win. Still a very good overall weekend for him though. Shame there isn't an F2 race now until what, mid September? 😐

F2 and F3 will revert back to the old format, with just 2 races a weekend and both racing at most events. The new 3 race format has not been a massive success, and just having one or the other racing at a weekend was not that great.

Currently Spa part 2 with the first F2 race, where every 10 minutes they will "update" us that it's wet.

5 poles in a row in F2 for Piastri. Equaling Leclerc's record. Hope that Alpine aren't going to waste his talent. He needs to be on the grid in '23.

Also, Jack Doohan alongside him on the front row, in only his second F2 event. Good day for Aussie drivers.

Good to know W Series is doing its job then...

Don't know what background forces are in play, something seems off... Jamie has been able to secure drives in Extreme E, Regional F3, and even got an invite to Race of Champions. She keeps appearing in games (DiRT 5 cameo was a brief surprise) and is a well known name in racing now thanks to 2 W Series titles. And yet there was no way she could get an F3 deal over the line?

I can only think that she wanted a Prema seat and was made to wait, and by the time she knew the other top teams had secured their lineups too. OR, (wild conspiracy time...) Caitlyn Jenner is throwing money at the W Series project, so Jamie is going to earn a salary in W Series. BIG pay day for her, but bad news for the series...

Or sponsors are just not willing to fund a 23 year old with a mediocre track record trying to get into a series for 16-18 year olds.

Let's be honest, Uralkali were only still on that car because Dmitry Mazepin didn't expect Nikita to get into F1 as soon as he did, so that was probably a long-term sponsorship he had signed and couldn't get out of.

Totally forgot about F2 this weekend. Good to see that Doohan got a podium though. He's had little luck so far this year.
