Anybody watching Electric Kart Masters on MotorsTV UK? Great Racing. đź‘Ť

I've seen that video before. Oulette is very good. I wasr reading about the Rotax World Challenge at Indy this morning in a volume of Go Racing Mag. So you will run DD2 with him?

If I succeed enough to the point where DD2 is the next step in karts, I'll be moving up to Formula Ford/cars.
My parents and I have already established that.

OK, just learnt a few things worthy of a double post:
1) I'm going to be "teammates" with Jamie McMurray in Daytona
2) One of the kids I've beaten this year just so happens to be a McLaren development driver (Lewis Hamilton ring a bell?)
3) I'm going to be teammates (no quotations on that one) with the McLaren development driver

Also, in my excitement I created this video of the rain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbEeVXyBipc&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Post if the link doesn't work.

Link worked fine....

Are you running Florida Winter Tour?

My brother will probably be there tuning for Intrepid Canada.

Who do you drive for?

I'm with CRG-America.
From what we heard, the Florida Winter Tour is more of a demolition derby if you don't escape to the front of the pack. One of my friends that went last year went through three axles in one weekend with none of it his own doing.

Congratulations that sounds very serious, enjoy!

I want to do Skip Barber and/or Formula Ford badly. Especially Formula Ford Festival UK

He's American. But he goes back and forth between the UK and the US during the racing season.
His name is VERY Italian though.

The name you are thinking of is Nyck De Vries.

This is the kid, knew the name but from gogatrs post I wondered if he wasn't naming drivers for a reason!?

How is Nyck doing generally, I really tried to put ÂŁ5 on him winning the Formula 1 world championship but couldn't find anywhere that would accept it!

The kid's name is Santino Ferrucci.

Don't tell me he's a Mario Andretti! :( not American but has citizenship. I don't count Mario as an American world champ because he was born in Italy

I actually think he was born here. His parents don't even have accents.

Early lifeMario Andretti and his twin brother Aldo were born into an Italian family in Montona (now Motovun, Croatia), Istria. Their parents were Luigi Andretti, a farm administrator, and his wife Rina.[6] Istria was then part of Italy, but became part of Yugoslavia at the end of World War II as confirmed by the Treaty of Paris. In 1948, the Andretti family left Montona during the Istrian exodus, ending up in a refugee camp in Lucca, Italy.[7] They emigrated to the United States of America in 1955, settling in Nazareth in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley with just $125 to their name.[3] Andretti became a naturalized United States citizen in 1964.

That was terrible.
I qualified mid to back of the pack, about what we expected, for all three classes.
Didn't make it past the first lap in any of the four races I was in. Rammed from behind two times, and bent a tie-rod the other two times when someone spun right in front of me.
Ended up getting thrown out of the kart once as well.
Blah.

How early did you get started in Karting gogatrs? I'm 14 right now and it's something I'd like to take up. There's a place near here called Dallas Karting Complex where you can buy or rent karts from them. They have child karts, all the way to full race spec. They also hold leagues and things like that. I'd really like taking this stuff up though when the opportunity comes.

I started doing rental karts two or three years ago. I got lucky because one of the driving coaches at the place I went to, was VERY good. He taught me just about everything I know about racing. That's what got me to the level I'm at now. I didn't do very well [in Daytona] but making it to the national level at all, particularly only after one year in real karts is an achievement. O owe that to him.
I'd recommend that you go to the place, master their rental karts, find a good driving coach, then work from there. You will know when it's time to get your own kart and move up to the next level.

I started in karts 10 years ago and only moved into tin tops and GTs 4 years ago. It's great to get into as long as your family can afford it (we went straight to owning our own) and I can second the driving coach, I never had one until a couple of years ago...

DKC is great for getting started using their rental karts, but a real race kart is a lot different. Come out the the North Texas Karters track in Denton sometime and you'll be able to take the club kart out for a spin to see the difference. Our first race of 2012 is this weekend and you can find the schedule at ntkarters.com. I started racing a few years ago and I'm much older than you, haha. We have 5 year olds out there racing all the time as well.

I can go into all the differences between the tracks, NTK, DKC, kart types, the classes you'll run in and etc if you're interested, just let me know. There's also a new indoor karting place that opened in Frisco which is fun as well. But if you want competitive wheel to wheel racing just about every other weekend, you can't beat racing at NTK.
