And heaps more in this interview by Playstation Chronicle..
Kazunori-San answered a WHOLE bunch of community submitted questions, awesome stuff.

I can't copy and paste it in here as it's an online magazine(free no subscription, just click and open) and the only thing you can do is turn page or zoom.
The magazine is in the first post of the link, click the little big planet picture in the post if you have trouble figuring it out for yourself..http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/3409863?start=0&tstart=0

Points covered in Interview.
- Working on premium cars and tracks
- Why many variations of some car's are included, thinks there are too many now.
- Memory restrictions for headtracking etc...
- Talks about tracks that were left out and says along the lines of "Midfield? Really you want midfield? Well it can be made. "
- Exactly why GT5 took so long.
- What makes an acceptable vehicle for use in GT,speed, style or cost?
- Says he wants players to be able to do endurance race's together via online etc.. and has wanted that from the start and he has been frustrated it hasn't been able to have been incorporated as of yet...
- Talks License fee's
- Says FIA and DTM were going to be included like nascar's premium glory but had to be pulled for time.

Also a bit more but have a read for yourself, it's a good read :)

I would pay £20 for an FIA GT and DTM DLC (provided it has all the cars, tracks and a LARGe amount of events...)

You say that but NASCAR gets a much bigger audience than all of the FIA races outside of F1. Even the LeMans 24h has little coverage in comparison to the mainstream of NASCAR.

Along with F1 and the Indy 500, NASCAR is at the top of the table for audiences.

👍

Just curious as to who believes KY would have been able to release the game in the 2 extra year time frame if he would have gotten his wish.

This I completely refuse to believe. Do you know how many people, including an insane amount Americans make fun of driving left on an oval for hours? It even got its own South Park episode.

Sure i do, but these are facts.

The Indy 500 is the biggest motorsport event of the year, audience wise it pulls in more than any other event, and that is just turning left. NASCAR has a massive audience. Sure a load of people make fun of NASCAR and turning left. The South park episode was actually making fun of people who think NASCAR is only for stupid poor rednecks, if you watch it carefully.

NASCAR is massive, whether you like it or not. Rebecca Black is massive, and nobody appears to like her, yet at the moment she is the most talked about artist and her video is the most viewed video of 2011. The world works in mysterious ways.

I did some oval events on iRacing and there was some intense racing to be had, just as intense as i've experienced on the road circuits, but in a completely different way, its strange. Anyway, southern parts of North America is where you will find the most NASCAR fans, but that is a lot of people.

Thankfully they don't show NASCAR here in Asia. Waste of a TV slot. I think the Petit Le Mans series is catching up in the US. I was this close to getting to watch it at Road Atlanta, but rain put paid to that.

I think the only thing more amazing than the huge Nascar following is how the fans complain SO much about the scoring etc yet the fan base just keeps growing regardless of how the racing rules change. I'm a hater so it pains me to acknowledge how big Nascar is but facts is facts..at least they dont always only turn left and are smart enough to hire Boris Said and such when they actually have to drive both directions :D

Glad to hear that he wants online endurance races so that players may take turns/shifts :) Even if he says it may take a few months or years, I am still happy to hear that 👍

Back on topic. I hope DTM & FIA packs are added. More race series' = More fun :)

Really? Like the DTM event we already have? Wow a whopping 3 races! They would have to add a dozen or so new tracks. Otherwise it will be as much BS as what they did with the NASCAR license. The cars sound terrible. There are only 2 actual tracks NASCAR uses. Super GT has a fair representation of cars. But how many of the Super GT tracks do we have? How is our Super GT series compared to the real thing?

We need events and tracks. Otherwise acquiring another license would be a waste. As mentioned by ISR, what's the use if having group B cars from the 80's if we don't have the tracks they raced on. We have Le Mans, oh boy.

I've read several stories about how NASCAR is in trouble because their TV ratings have been tanking for the past few years. It's no longer the growing TV spectacle that it was a few years ago.

I much prefer Le Mans-style sports car races (I'm going to have to guess you mean ALMS), but there is no way you can say it's catching up to NASCAR in the US. Sure, it may be true that its viewership is growing (questionable) while NASCAR's is falling and that would technically be "catching up," but the gulf between the two is probably bigger than when baseball was in trouble because of the strike and hockey was briefly on the upswing in the U.S. ALMS doesn't even have token live coverage in the US anymore, it's all streamed online on Saturdays with a recap/highlight show the next day.

I would absolutely love FIA GT but will take a pass on the current incarnation of DTM. Isn't today's a shell of DTM's heyday? Spaceframe purpose-built racecars that have nearly zero resemblance to the street cars offered by the manufacturers?

Does the name "Kimi" mean anything to you? FYI he's getting behind the wheel of one of Kyle Busch's trucks in a few weeks. NASCAR is for the fans. It's about competition, not doing time trials with other cars on the track for a couple of hours.

ALMS is becoming so popular in the states, their race coverage has been relegated to 95% Internet only on ESPN3.com. V8 Supercars is more popular. At least they are on SPEED. As is BTC and DTM.

It clutters up the game no end. If the way it has been done is so smart, why not have 2500 cars, including 580 Skylines, 167 GT-Rs, 367 MX5s, 192 s2000s and so on? It's so little work after all.

Agree with this guy. For me, I know that they didn't take much time to add and that they aren't in place over a premium vehicle. What I do hate is how much they clutter up the used car dealership. There's 800+ "used cars" in the game, and the 30 cars in the dealership consist of at least half Miatas/Skylines/3000GTs/Japenese Econoboxes.

If it were up to me, there'd be separate dealerships like in real life. One for exotics, one for high-mileage/low dollar vehicles, one for race cars (okay maybe not quite like real life), one for tuners, etc. Allow for more of a selection at one time while allowing for easier finding of certain vehicles.

This doesn't answer much really... Super short interview and it seems old, like November old.

If they can make a new track it should be Spa-franchorchamps not Midfield ish.

Yes, know him. He tried rallying and sucked big time at it. Tries NASCAR now and will probably do an apt Montoya-impersonation (read: suck at it).

Hate to break the news to you, but the world doesn't end east of New York or West of LA. Compared to the amount of people, who do not live in the US of Americaland, a bunch of Southeners, who enjoy to watch 42 cars go in circles for hours are a minority. NASCAR may be big in America, but outside of it it makes people go WTF mainly. A race at Taladega is a mindbogglingly boring case of highspeed chess with the odd massive wreck here or there, so the most exciting bit about it is people trying to kill each other in a massive fireball. If I want highspeed chess, I'll watch Kasparov vs. Anand in a Blitz-match. At least all participants are unharmed afterwards. NASCAR is a purely american event and only die-hard race fans elsewhere know it. I could have done well without Dead Gordon's Special Events in exchange for some real content and while we're at it, they could've dumped the ridiculous Hippy-bus and Nazi-Kübel events at the TGTT, that'd freed up quite some time and space to develop something useful.

Ice Hockey is a form of rounders? Never knew that... :odd:

It's just a pub brawl on skates, isn' it. Whenever I watched a hockey game (lived 4 years in russia following russian first division team Avantgarde Omsk) it usually degenerated into a massive brawl with people trying to beat the raw crap out of each other with wooden sticks. Bit like the local disco with the sole difference being that baseball bats were the fashion of the day rather than L-shaped twigs. Didn't make much difference in the casualty count though...

Just watch this: Avantgarde Omsk vs. Vityaz Chekhov Bit of russian talking at the beginning but then they just start to kick each others head in. I've seen less action in Somalia when I was there as a soldier back in 1994...

Why must people be so ignorant? You don't have to like something, thats fine, but when you continually bash it and describe it in what sounds "ignorant" thats not right... can we get back on topic?

Why is it that it is physically impossible to keep GTP members from going on stupid tangents about how awful NASCAR is whenever the topic is merely mentioned in passing?

I think you just made the point everyone else has been trying to make:

Just because something is popular and/or receives a lot of attention, it doesn't mean that thing is quality or worthwhile.

How far off topic are you guys trying to take this thread?

Either get back on topic or it will be locked.

Scaff

My point was that we have different tastes in sports, i admit it was off topic but though it was worth mentioning. Didn't really go the way i planned though....

again he talking about stuff... I want to see action I don't care If you say you working on dlc it almost been 5 months maybe 6 lost count

time is ticking and patience is beyond up

yeah, would love to see a real championship for the super gt, too. i mean with a minimum of 5 races as a championship... with fia gt and and dtm it would be perfect

...but does everybody want midfield?... YES, SIR!! everybody who played GT5 with me, asked where's midfield?
