I think Kaz noticed the duplicates problem before, the olny duplicate among the premmies is the GT-R (And rightfully so)

Ridiculous numbers of econoboxes would be considered duplicates and very unnecessary. As for the dealership, it should be organized by manufacturer. Especially when events require specific cars that can only be obtained through the used market.

Even worse than the Miatas and Skylines are all the variations and models for the Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO! I can't believe it! This car is so boring and I have to keep buying it over and over again to get a complete collection! At least the Skylines and Miatas are fun cars.

I'm in the minority but getting rid of "similar" cars accomplishes nothing, and in my case it detracts from it. Sure, most people hate the Honda S2000 for being a little overdone. But in a bit of defense, there's a difference. Sure, the intra-country models (EU or US, take you pick) are quite similar, but anything between the S2000 of EU or US, they are a bit difference.

Besides, some of us collectors prefer a challenge and the wide variety from different countries and model years supplied makes for a diverse collection.

And yes, I own 9 S2000's.

Always good to hear what Kas has to say.

If Kaz wanted to take another 2 years on GT5 to get what he wanted. Effectively GT6 will be the GT5 Kaz wanted.

The thing with hardware power, is a developer could always do with more. Maybe consoles should have a memory slot like laptops, so that extra memory could be added. So that consoles that are out for a number of years do not bottleneck graphic & game development, which improves dramatically year on year.

PS3 has had 256MB of video & 256MB of system memory since it came out in 2006, that is 5 years where not much but HD size has changed, of course game developers have moved on and want more than 2006.

There should be some way for those who want to to be able to buy & add memory so that titles like GT5 could develop further i.e GT6 also be on a PS3 with option for Normal of higher settings if required. At the moment it seems GT will have a prologue title and a main title per Playstation, GT5p/GT5 on PS3, GT6P/GT6 on PS4, by the time PD get this together it will be midlife through PS4 so will have developed up to the capacity of that hardware, like they have worked GT5 to the upper limits of the PS3 hardware. Now giving them no way to dramatically improves aesthetics on GT6 thus delay any development on this till Sony have specs for PS4.

If console had even a little way of improving performance over the many years they are out like pc's. it makes GT6 being released on PS3 more likely/feasible and even a way to provide an option to sort some of the issues with current graphics.

you know, Mister Kaz. isnt the end all be all decision maker. If it was up to him we would of had a lot longer wait than we had (believe me i waited a long time for this game lol). Investors and Money speak more than actions, and rightfully so. I just hope in the future we can all experience GT series to be what it has always been. Although I hate to admit there are other studios that are trying to take the title for the best racing game out there. Its competition that makes the world go round. I do love "other" games for what they bring to the table...But i will always have a place in my heart for the GT franchise, for what its worth.

Nope, I've come into GT series some years ago only because of the quality, not because they are nice or whatever... people will stay with them only if they keep an high quality and the series will justify the purchase of a PS4. All the console devs needs to move on.. next generation have LOT to do to match actual PC sim racing gen.

Console upgrades have always been colossal failures with only one or two games that actually utilized what they were capable of. This is not the way of the future. I'm guessing you weren't old enough at the time to remember the Sega CD, 32X, or VCD card for Saturn, Nintendo SuperNES CD (never released), Nintendo 64DD, or TurboGraphix CD.

I'd say the correct way of going about it is, when designing a new console, don't use current PC specs as your target...use 2-3 years down the line.

OFFICIAL GUIDE FOR PD TO MAKE GT6 THE GREATEST RACING GAME EVER

1. Outsource modeling of premium cars / Hire more people
2. Remove the damned level system
3. Incorporate a livery editor
4. Make B-spec an optional experience (like in GT4)
5. Qualifying!
6. Other stuff

Excellent find.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing it.

No worries,i thought everyone would enjoy the read.

I don't know how much direct contact the GTP team has with Polyphony Digital but it would be great if we had a similar interview with different but sensible questions ( not where's porsche? ) from the members of this community.

We already have that guy ( forgive me i don't know it ) who has made a GT5 Magazine here so maybe the interview could be part of that in the future? Just an idea..

While it is an interesting article, as usual it only offers a bare glimpse into the mysteries of Kaz and the GT5 debacle. (At least in my mind thats what it has been)

He admits the time mountain has been a major factor in development and also complains about the PS3 memory limitations.
Comparitively the PS3 is light years ahead of the PS2.

Its as if he had no idea what was going to be involved in the making of his first PS3 game, but it would play with all the ooh lala of a PC game on the latest Alien gaming computer.

The guy baffles me. He truly does.

All I can conclude is his ambitions with GT5 were way too unrealistic, and should have been trimmed early on.

Some are obvious, like how many of you guys are playing on 3D TVs?
Don't everybody speak at once.

I agree the following is a good start on GT6. One add in red and could have added more but most of this ground has been covered over and over.

While not many play on 3D just at the moment, in about a year the current 3D tv's will drop 30-40% on current market price, especially during a sale.
In the meantime i can however confirm that the 3D for those of us with 3D sets ( its $9.87 NZDper week for 42" 3D, surely you can afford that if you wanted it? ) it is quite an amazing experience to say the least.

Lots of things come to life in 3D, the rumblestrips and rev needles ,gauges and the rear view mirror are just a few of the highlights in 3D..

FIA GT and DTM would have been epic. There are no premium European race cars (sans the 908 and the obsolete R10).

There's even a DTM event, but the only premium that you can use is a concept car.

Isn't it sad that GRID had a better B-Spec system. And that title came out three years ago.

The part about online driver changes is pretty interesting. I wish we were able to do that as it would make completing 24 Hr races far easier.

To be fair to Kaz, this is likely one of the few things that Sony did force on them during development.

I doubt Sony's demands were that few.

Although we don't know which "must haves" were Sony's and which were Kaz's.

I believe Sony's marriage to PD and subsequent influence is the biggest reason for the problems and shortcomings of GT5.
