I still wonder about that batmobile, it still puzzles me about how people are saying it's going to be in GT6. I know it may be nothing more than a bunch rumors, but still it could happen.:sly:

Continuing to make small tweaks and fixes on GT5 is just a waste of time and resources at this point in time. People still playing GT5 at this point are probably going to continue to do so anyway, likewise the people that have stopped playing it aren't going to come back because you made a few minor changes or added a couple of DLC cars.

I agree.

If you want major changes for GT5, then just wait for GT6. The only way to make GT5 more relevant or exciting again is to change the whole framework, style, and a bunch of new events. Would it not make sense to see that in a new GT game, rather than an update? I mean that is the point of a new release. A lot of people just seems to want GT5 to be reborn and excited again, but why should PD do that if they could just make GT6?

They may make small tweaks to test the physics and get feedback? Especially if GT6 is using the same engine. I'm pretty sure that GT6 will be a reborn GT5. But it's ok,that's what GT5 needs.

Do you have a link to that picture ?

Thanks.

There you go :)

The special development version of Gran Turismo brought into the garage. Damper strength, spring ratio, aerodynamics and fuel economy can be set in an instant and test driven.

That's a really good point. There really is no need for updates at this point. If they finish a track or two I don't mind it getting released but at this point Gt5 is what it is so just focus on GT6 and get it to us next Fall.

You know, I'm quite certain that the people who have issues with GT5 have specific issues with GT5. They don't, as you seem to be asserting, take issue with the fact that it exists .
I never said those people in particular would complain did I?
Hardly.

PS3 (or likely PS4) doesn't have any graphic tools available, unlike a PC (Photoshop, GIMP, Draw, Paintshop Pro), so, GT6 would need to include such tools within the game.
What you are saying here is completely different different to using an in game livery editor.

What they try to say in my opinion is that you can create custom liveries in almost every game.

PC games have photoshop and mods. Yes it is not really a livery editor, but you get the same result.

Console games don't offer photoshop and mods that means you need a livery editor zu create liveries.

DeltaWing?

If the rumours I've heard are true, there's not a chance in hell. It might be a Nissan-engined car and driven by a number of Nissan factory drivers, but Don Panoz holds the licensing rights and it's rumoured he requires $1m for licensing.

Of course he might be persuaded to make a deal, given his car's relationship with Nissan (engine, drivers, factory support) and Nissan's with Sony (GT Academy).

GT6 needs to be a true sim. Tire pressures with temp data so setups are not a shot in the dark or a guessing game. Individual adjustments at all 4 corners for camber Caster and toe. You get the idea.
Well, GT6 needs the option to be a true sim. I like the concept of having it be a separate mode, or two depending on the modes. The reason being, I'd think it would be cleaner coding to make it separate from the traditional Arcade/GT Modes everyone grew up with. Can you imagine what a hassle it would be to run through a gob of options like this?
  • Physics: arcade, GT, semi-pro, hard, simulation
  • Weather effects: none, mild, medium, hard, simulation
  • Competitor A.I.: easy, medium, hard, professional
  • Off-track behavior: mild, semi-sim, hard, simulation
  • Damage: none, graphic, mild, medium, simulation
And then a whole SLEW of race rule options, calendars, etc, etc, etc.

If you put the serious simulation stuff in a Professional, Season or Career Mode, the old school types who just want to tear around and collect cars can do so, and those of us who want something of the experience of a simulation racer, where the point is to bring all the aspects of real pro racing to our mancaves can have this slice of pie, and enjoy the heck out of it. When the other crowd is ready for the deep end of the pool, they can dive in anytime.

And along with that, a full blown livery editor really is a must, and to do it right with all the effects you can think of and 24-plus car races off- or online, put it on the PS4.

I actually liked the way MGS2 did it, asking you questions about the sort of play-style you want before giving you access to the full list of options should you be interested. That way you streamline the process for the casuals but don't fully obfuscate the complexity for those that know what they're looking at.

I just know PS3 have some game allowed gamer import theirs PNG into PS3 as well as character suit pattern.

Pro Evolution Soccer allows you to import PNG images.

GT6 should definitely go the template route, those in game editors are crap and take ages to create something decent.

You never used the Forza livery editor if you think that.

It would be awesome to be able to export a blank template, photoshop it, and then import it. Another great feature would be to allow importing of images in to the livery editor and being able to integrate them in using provided tools (like Froza's livery tools).

However, I highly doubt that would ever happen.

They're actually a lot easier to work with as you see the car as you're working and only see the side of the car you need. With templates you have to use a flattened wire mesh and it's trickier to get everything as you want it once it's realised on a 3D model.

Also what about people without good image editing software, or even those without a PC? Templates are fine for PC sims but for a console it has to be all on the console.

Exactly. Another issue with templates is that they need to be "contiguous" so that we can get our heads around which parts of the map correspond to which parts of the car. This usually results in wasted space in the texture.

Given such space is at a premium in the PS3, I'd wager PD make the absolute best use of the space, which means breaking the texture up to suit. Either that, or they use lots of little ones (they're easier to pack into memory efficiently) that are streamed in as and when required, a bit like Rage does.

I used google translate, but I'm curious to get a more accurate version.

It's his birthday today! The 5th of August is his birthday and that's what it is in Japan right now. Thanks, man. lol I wouldn't have known otherwise.

That second sentence is too strange to understand.

Message, thank you. It has started to make Gran Turismo, just 20 years ago. Even now when creating excitement is unchanged.
That's the tweet that came after.

I think he's just saying, that after 20yrs of molding the game into what it is now, he is just as excited going forward. Its probably lost in translation too, my rough interpretation:

It started with making Gran Turismo, just 20 years ago. Even now the developmental excitement is unchanged.

My bad. That's what I understood from the one too. I was referring to the second sentence of the first tweet that CorvetteConquer quoted.

Google translated - While birthday, we have relaxed work. Holiday studio nobody is quiet and I'm like. Http://Ow.Ly/i/P9kI

Funny how I analyzed the photo for about a minute trying to find some hints toward GT6.
