So if its finalizing issue, wouldn't that technically count as a production issue? Or is production limited mainly to like, logistical stuff?

I think the main problem here is that PD knew they weren't going to hit the "gold date." That's the reason why he was apologizing and it seems like even for him, he didn't expect this "finalization" of the complex systems present in GT5 to take so long.

Well, judging from the tweet EVERYTHING is done and it's mainly polishing now which includes finalizing the rest of the game.

It's understandable. Having created some games myself, there's unforseen problems that pop up from time to time and they want to deal with it NOW.

I mean look at F1: 2010. You can tell the game was rushed because of all the game-breaking bugs (they obviously did not do a final check on the game) and Kazunori does not want this to happen.
He wants GT5 to come out of the gate with strong legs.

Like Kaz said the system is too complicated, he may be optimizing LBA on the bluray to give the best performance during gameplay.

I think it comes down to bugs, when you have complicated game modes you have a lot of bugs, when you fix one it often causes a bunch more. I remember the hair pulling frustration from my programming days.

Amen to that. Hopefully Polyphony used a bunch of "//" or "/*" and "*/" in their code so at least it's organized and they know where their code was going and what it was doing.

延期しちゃってごめん。複雑なシステムを落ち着かせるのに手間がかかったせいです。ほ んとごめんね。みんな、すまない・・・。ちょっとまってて。

"sorry for the delay. I got stuck in the bathroom again. I don't know how this keeps happening to me please help."

omg! lmfao!

When the original Japan March 31st 2010 release date got delayed, they also said it was due to 'production issues'.

The first delay is more a "commercial issue" as Sony start thinking at GT5 as a 3D screens seller and take the decision to use it as a sales booster.

This delay is more likely a technical issue. The Kaz tweets are clear. The game is no-gold for now. So they didn't start producing blurays... So they can't be in stores worldwide by november the 2nd...

But not much later... a week or two. I hope! :)

I guess it's possible that the games finished and dusted, but the back end support infrastructure for the On line experience is behind... it is indeed a complex application, the scale alone will be very interesting, I hope they do a GT TV slot on what runs the on-line part of GT5

From the article in Andrisang, he stated that it was more of finalizing the rest of the systems in the game. What's being said is conflicting with each other
I don't see your point, unless by "production issues" you're thinking something like the color was off a few hues on the cover art, or the Blu-ray didn't quite fit in the case. ;)

Personally, I think "calming the complex system" means something was causing performance problems, either in the PS3 or online, or both. Maybe getting damage to properly coordinate across the net without causing hiccups. If it's something like that, it means work they've been doing for months has been fighting them, so... I hope it's not that. We'll have some idea in a week or two.

Yea, in which case I'm more than willing to be patient. I'd rather have a great game with minimal or no bugs, than a potentially great game that makes cars fly into the sky.

True, but then he also decided to go a little add crazy on top of that.

Anybody thought that he may not be tweeting due to the fact that he is rushed off his feet trying to get gran turismo 5 released before christmas.

The content is done, what are you guys talking about. If they were that far behind, to postpone the release by 6+ months, we would have heard this more than 3 weeks before the release.........

He's probably doing a bit of tavelling or organising the travel details for the publicity appointments. SEMA next week and so on.

They also said it was 90% complete a long time ago and that they could release it anytime. So I don't believe a thing they say anymore.

Of course only time can tell what's realy going to happen.

To be honest he always said 90% in recent years, I'm betting he claims it's 90% a day before release until someone tells him GT5 actually is been sold in shops already.

When people bring up that he mentioned that they could release it any time that they want, they seem to ignore the rest of the comment that went with that statement

"Naturally, my attention is focused purely on Gran Turismo 5 right now," he told Famitsu magazine in an interview published this week. "The scale of this title is just dizzying, so daily progress is slow, but it's still going forward at a steady clip. All the basic stuff is complete, but we're trying to give everything that little bit extra at present. We could release it any time we want, really, but I want to have that classic GT-style 'did we really have to go this far?' feel going. I want to go way beyond gamer expectations."

He was basically saying that they could've released it last year as long as people didn't want weather, day/night cycles, a proper damage model and a robust online model because the basics like driving physics, cars and tracks were ready to go. But that's not all GT is about. As he said, it's about having people say "Did they really have to go that far".

Yeah .. you're right but Iam not gonna believe that this game get's released anymore until I have it in my PlayStation.

Hm.. I can't stand this wait much longer...
