sorry but everyone wants something different. i don't give a damn about a list of times telling me how good other people are at the game, in fact i can't think of anything more banal and depressing. It adds nothing to my driving experience whatsoever. Waste of development time if you ask me.

agreed.

I tell you whats banal and depressing. Having to re-run an event numerous times to gain credit without a leaderboard for that event. However if each A Spec event had its own leaderboard it wouldn't seem a chore because its great fun competiting against your friends and the world. Also its a great challenge trying to be consistently fast over x amount of laps whilst dodging the A.I at the same time.

Clearly you're one of these people who haven't experienced this type of gameplay like I have. Once you do it becomes extremely addictive. Even if you don't want to compete against others its good fun competiting against yourself. Many racing games have career leaderboards but unfortunately GT5 doesn't. We have over 1000 cars and only 4 time trials which is pathetic in this day and age.

Simple way of summing this up is Kaz/PD spent nearly 2 yrs modelling tracks like Madrid, Rome and yet it looks like 2mins was spent developing A Spec!

You carry on enjoying GT5 and whilst your at it play some songs from the 1990s and then you will really be back in time!

When GT5 came out Kaz said there will be leaderboards. When Sony said they wanted a release before Christmas he probably dropped the things that didn't have to be in the release in order to finish what had to be in.

The only worrying thing is, he said Leaderboards were coming end of December and we got them via seasonal events, but, I think we need proper online leaderboards. I am not sure this will happen, maybe cos too many cars or something.

I hope so, as I really miss the lack of online leaderboards.

I think a better addition, which would require ZERO new assets and just a menu option, would be....

The Host's ability to set up race series in an online lobby.
Like a 4 race series
- pick tracks/laps etc..
- restrictions for entire series
- give pts based on position
- everyone wins normal purse each race and the final top 3 win a bonus purse.

And ofcourse even SMALLER additions
- Filter by P/W ratio :(
- Filter by Car Class (Touring, Lemans, F1, GT500, Production) [ability to combine classes for restrictions]

As long as we GET the leaderboards eventually (end of the month, February, March, even sometimes in April), I'm fine with it. But I'd rather have them working properly when we do get them. And I think PD have a LOT of work to do in this area and they know it. And that's why we don't have them yet. There are a number of tracks where you can clearly cut corners without penalty, hard barriers that allow you to bounce off faster than you would by braking and various other tricks and shortcuts that people could and would exploit. As it stands right now, without correcting this, any leaderboard would be polluted with unrealistic times within hours. And I'd rather they didn't have to wipe them clean a month later.

There are many small quirks and bugs I'm hoping PD will fix. And as badly as I want online leaderboards (it's one of THE most important missing features), I can wait for it.

Excuse me, leaderboards are critical to a racing game. They instantly tell you what lap time you should be targeting. They tell you what the dominant cars are for various tracks. You download replays to see what are the best driving lines and techniques. You download ghosts and race against the ghost of the current leader. It's cool when you shave time off and you climb to the top 1,000 or 100 or even top 10. Are you in the top 10%? top 1%? All useful information.

A modern racing game without a leaderboard is incomplete.

I still don't understand. We had leaderboard in Prologue (and individual gear ratio adjustments). How do you lose features?

One of the good things about the current leaderboards in the Seasonal Events is that you can actually save the replay from the person doing the driving. So if your curious as to how the person did the time they did, you can watch their replay.

I saved the #1 drifting person utilizing the 62' Buick Special. Mainly just to see wtf that car was. It is the snow drift trial, not sure if it is 2 or 3 though. But, hey thats a good feature, worth doing in my opinion.

But yeah all leaderboards are crap anyway. I hate leaderboards to be honest. All the current leaderboards showcase one thing. Someone does a good lap time, people look at the car and then copy/paste the result. Had to go down to about #400 position to find a different car besides that Concept in Time Trial #1, first race of the series. Was stupid.

We desperately need an option to force Stock Car settings (values) in online options.

Thanx for anyone who would care to propose this to Kazunori-san.
Yes...this is a must.

I can't actually believe that Kaz is taking so much time out to be so personal with the community over Twitter. It's fascinating to read his responses to players of his magnum opus.

Hate to say it but until they resolve the physics inconsistancy between online and off the leader boards won't get done... This would show everyone the issue.

But local lb could still be done for off line and I agree that this is a must feature... It easily doubled my play time in forza 2... But even it was removed from forza 3...

Perhaps because of the online/offline physics differences???

Personally I don't care about anything that doesn't involve actual racing. That includes rear wipers. Seems to me, leaderboards are just made for ego junkies ... really don't affect the racing. If I'm far enough off the top times, no amount of practice and continual repetition is going to enhance my experience in regards to leaderboards. You can pretty much bet that there will always be people faster and slower than you.

My main request is for PD to simply fix all the crap that just simply doesn't work and correct the small details and mistakes ..... such as ....

Individual gear adjustments ..... their own interface design is what keeps it from working according to PD .... then fix it dam it !!

Personal background music ..... it's absolutely ridiculous that they can't lock down the settings once they're set. Having to go back after every race almost and reset to play personal background music is not only frustrating, it just unprofessional.

Correct data !! Seeing a car with x amount of HP in the car lot and buying the car (4.3 million) only to find out after buying the car that it has 300 more HP than advertised ruins my day. I bought the car for a specific event and now it's useless.

We should be able to sell ANY car that we pay cash for !! Prize cars - ok, but if I put out good "money" for a car and then find out that I was misled by the incorrect data, then I should at least be able to sell the car and recoup at least a portion of my expense.

It seems to me that the game was designed for maximum frustration instead of entertainment and fun. Every single time I have more than 4 or 5 million credits, the Used Car Lot displays nothing but 0 to 4 level cars. As soon as I buy half dozen mid level cars and deplete my savings, the higher level cars start showing up. I kept track the other night and for 4 rotations of inventory, the level TOTAL of ALL newly added cars was 12. I'm at level 32 A-Spec so I've played it enough to make this observation.

I LOVE the game ..... it just frustrates the hell out of me though

Please PD ..... fix the stuff you already have before adding more crap that only appeals to a small percentage of enthusiasts. When the original GT came out, I remember reading about Kazanori San's philosophy and how the game was made his way for him, more than it was for main stream gamers. Seeing the game evolve from the "Real Driving Simulator" to more of a racing game keeps me coming back, but it seems to me that Kaz is still making these games for his entertainment, not ours :indiff:

on the pause menu during a race they need to have a confirm menu come up when you hit the restart race option like so many other games do. a few times i have accidentally hit restart race without meaning to and i have to restart a race that i was halfway through :banghead:

I just really want a easy medium and hard option. Or simulation setting where the game just becomes really hard. I am tired of driving stock cars just to have fun (WHICH I AM NOT) The grinding is ridiculous and online is the only thing keeping me going right now about GT5. Things i would like to see fix is more premium cars and more tracks and A LOT more events with better restrictions.

Or how about this make every event in GT5 able to be played online with friends instead of stupid AI?

And o fix the course maker to make t a course maker.

Livery

Auction house so i can sell cars to friends instead of logging onto GTPLANET to find out if someone is willing to trade cars with me..

Night/ day, weather transition for all tracks.

Idk maybe i am asking for too much from PD or just have really high standards but I dont know. I have seen other games do this so I am just saying

Edit

And the car tuning options I feel like its for a 5yr old child.

I think they should keep this options we have now for the people that do not know anything about cars and give us the gear heads option to pick what

Different compression ratios
Different crank size
+ OR - Engine bore
Different cams that perform over different rpm ranges
Injector sizes
Intake size ( including throttle body size)
Exhaust size
Fuel pumps
Fuel rails
Different turbo sizes ( piping size for intercooler too)
Pick what type of rods

And there's a lot more stuff to list but i think you guys get the gist of things

A dyno would be needed to check out your builds though if where going to get all of this because now there would one car with multiple builds to your liking

Air fuel and turbo psi would be the only two adjustable things on the dyno

And to solve the gearing issue use

They are 3 options for the gearbox

Gear box 1: None customizable just a tight 6 speed gearbox

Gear box 2: Only the final Gear is adjustable

Gear box 3: All gears are fully customizable.

This is what i wanna see in GT5 but i know it wont happen but in GT6 this is how it should go down

Yes this needs to be fixed too

The Pit sign needs fixed too. They guy flips it far too soon. It should read "Stop" until all the work is done and you're ready to go. I've seen in real races where the sign was flipped too soon and the driver left, taking a gas can or running someone over.

no please no more pauses or delays, too much of that already. Errors are part of racing.

lol, I think we all have seen this. Driver takes off, with out some wheels. Damn sign guy.

I've never had this accidental restart problem, i always push the button i paused the game with  (The Start button) or used circle which is cancel, but i agree it seems to be an issue for some.

I thought of a request, now my brain hurts so I'll share: install a new a-spec series, just call it "patch 1.06 series". Make tough restrictions, vary the car class, medium length, 10-20 laps, no endurance stuff, and huge payouts. Something no Bob or X1 can slaughter aimlessly or indy grinder will sit around spinning circles, but where we could use a decent variety of tuned cars and all crummy races will be forgiven.

How did this turn from "Kazunori Yamauchi tweets!" into yet ANOTHER "what I wish was in GT5" thread?

Not that I don't agree...just saying is all. :)

:confused:IDK, I haven't seen this whole thread, just saw w bunch of requests and figured I'd jump over the cliff too.:D. Are there like, info leaks buried in here?

Unnecessary patch. It's not like your controlling the car when you're pitting.

Totally agree! I would also add the ability to choose ANY car from our garage (depending of restrictions) and get rid of the "favourite" tab.....it's so boring and useless to select them one by one.

This is a problem? I've never had to change my personal background music settings at all. How are you setting it up? I've got a GT5 playlist set up in the XMB (WAY too much music to just let it play everything). I pointed the background music options to the first song in that playlist. And it's always just worked.

Well, i have proposed this for the second time, hope Kaz will see it

Ive only set the background once and it always plays my personal music in the menus and in game before and after every race.

The only thing I really want is a save option for the endurance races for every two hours. Im not touching the endurance races until there is a save function. It would also be great if it was possible to use B-Spec in some A-Spec races.
