KERS/Electric Cars?

Where's the sound. OK it's fast but this car doesn't have anything. No interior, no doors and its ugly.

You want sound turn on the radio, you want doors and interior then checkout the tesla. They can come out with better electric cars in the future, you just have to give them a chance. Intead of being a nay sayer and as far as gas cars are concerned they are here to stay because people will always love them from past to present.

As for me anything that has four wheels a steering wheel pedals to control them and goes fast in turns is something I would love to drive. It doesn't have to be the fastest car, it just has to be trilling to drive. "It's all about the DRIVE" isn't that the reason we play GT even if it's just pretend (SIM Racing) it gives us the feeling of speed and gets our adrenaline going.

Hell! if they came out with a steampowered car I'd love to drive that too. I'd even love to drive Fred Flinstones car if it will go fast downhill...LOL

well, Flinstones car, isnt a car...it doesnt has pedals :sly: but i mean, the thing i like the most about cars is the engine, and being able to modify them, but being electric cars, how would you tune the engine, adding more batteries?....well, enough offtopic and yes, i think GT5 will have electric cars, but no KERS.

I do like the Tesla cars, because, well they're CARS. But that atom doesn't count, It's not very hard to be faster than a ferrari if you weigh 300 lbs.

Yeah the tesla is a nice car for sure and it's fast. I didn't express myself right the first time. I mean it's allright that GT features electric cars but I will just not use them.

Tuning it would be in the computer mapping just like they do with the electronics for F1 cars or even road cars. With regard to motors they would come in different outputs and configurations. But that would be the fun in it it's a whole different animal so we would learn to tune it in different ways we have not discovered yet. It's the learning experience that will make it exciting.

It's an Ariel Atom, converted to an electric car... (not having watched the video, I'm assuming it's the Wrightspeed X1). Doesn't need an interior and doesn't need doors - it's a 240hp car weighing 450kg/1000lb.

i think that world should go into hydrogen fuel cars, not electric cars, i dont know but if world go into only electric cars, then im statin that i wont be no longer fan of cars..they just make me want to puke:crazy:

The point of "alternative" fuels is that they are just that... "alternative".

The more boring, dull commuter vehicles we can make that don't use petrol, the more petrol we have left for fun. Like Jay Leno said to James May, the car didn't kill off the horse - it saved the horse, turning it from the thing that got everything done (many horses had short, abused lives) into a beast of leisure pursuits. And the same can be said of electric cars - saving petrol so we can stick it in cars that deserve it rather than the heaps of crap that help the world go round.

If someone can explain to me how i can charge my electric car in a pit stop lasting less than 10 seconds during an endurance race then i'll consider it.:sly:

You'd need 1.21 gigawatts of electrical energy...

Electric cars, not interest to me and I'd prefer that they wern't in the game (simply because I'd rather see something else) Though realisticly I would be surprised if the Telsa is not in the game. At the end of the day something like that is a lot more relevant to the game than a b***** Prius!

KERS, I wouldn't mind seeing it in the game, certainly if the F458 is in the game (which to be honest I would say is almost certain,) then if the real one has KERS it should be in the game.

I presume you mean the Ferrari 458 Italia (rather than the Ford F450 truck)? I can't find any reference to it having KERS...

-> I like Electric Vehicles, they're in that 'niche' factor and and pretty much significant in the Automotive World:

GM EV-1 (almost forgotten)

Tesla Roadster series (everyone knows this already)

Commuter Cars Tango series (very unique, I like it!)

Lightning GT (still in development)

Keio University Eliica super limousine (prototype study)

Tesla Model S (still in development)

-> Just for fun:
Tesla vs. Tango

-> And also remember that the Toyota MTRC? That is an EV too! :)

I just know that Electric Cars will be the future? but thats quite sad for me, i love cars and their actual engines too...but i guess that with this go green trend, the actual cars will die as we know them, i support the planet but i hate when something happens in the planet, and its always cars fault.

about them being ingame, im quite sure there will be some electric cars, but it comes to my mind this question, How Im going to modifiy an electric Car?

Gas powered cars will always be around people will always have a love affair with cars from the past that's what car fanatic's are about. As much as I'd love to see electric cars as a norm in the future there will be room for both. Oh! and with regards to performance mods I'm sure poeple will find ways to mod them. Bigger motors stronger batteries, better computer mapping etc. and you can pimp them out too...LOL

1.21 gigawatts? 1.21 gigawatts? Great Scott!

He had a better car...LOL powered by garbage, yeah baby! 0 to 60 faster than the speed of time.

Well, i hope Gas powered cars dont dissapear, i mean, i prefer hydrogen cars instead of electric cars, because its almost the same concept as actual cars but with another energy source, about electric cars i dont know so dont flame me if im wrong, but they actually dont have an engine, its like a lot of batteries and only one moving piece or something like that...:dunce:

No engine, only electric motor that will come in different size and power. So you could say if you wanted to mod an electric car you would stick a bigger electric motor and with battery technology, put a lighter and smaller quick charging battery. Then to control the cars balance you can mod the traction control for each drive wheel by mapping the control module of the accelarator.

I think Ferrari, when they said their next-gen cars would be lighter, less powerful and possibly with KERS onboard they meant their Enzo replacement rather than the lower-priced and higher volume F430 replacement. That said, given that KERS is a one-season-only gimmick in F1 and reportedly very hard to implement in a production car (you know, cars where people aren't required to wear fireproof underwear?) it has been speculated, possibly even confirmed that KERS won't feature in a Ferrari production car. Then again, they do have the XX version of whatever they make next to consider...

Anyway, back on topic; I think I'm right in saying the Honda Dualnote concept in GT Concept: Tokyo - Geneva (I think thats what its called?) had a KERS system- A small red bar, indicating the charge level, which randomly depleted and recharged during a race. I think. It was around five years ago, after all.

Oops, thats what you get looking up model numbers in a previous post... I did of course mean the 458.

I'm sure that I read a report somewhere that mentioned kers and the italia, will see if I can find it.
Of course with kers being dropped from F1 I guess there is a fair chance they will now just try and forget about it.

Apparently it was "codenamed" F450 by the press until Ferrari gave it an actual name (and called F142 internally). So it's all good.

I think when it was in development, it was originally codenamed the F450 and there rumours that it would have KERS or something similar. Obviously it's now the F458 Italia and it has no KERS.:)

EDIT: Sorry, too late :(

Anyway, i think the only electric car i'd want at the moment is the new Tesla Roadster sport.

Supposed to be going up against the Lotus Exige. Could make another good battle in GT5

Actually I'm very interested in electric cars. So it would be great to have them in GT5.

If I had the opportunity to buy a Tesla model S, I wouldn't think about it twice. Granted, it makes practically no sound but you get so much more in return. Tesla model S is very fast (acceleration), very quiet, so less tress. Instant torque ... .

PD give us electric cars!
So much more in return? In return for what? Fifty grand for the base model that has a low range. Takes hours to fully charge. Plus, where do you think that electricity came from? Thin air? You can buy a better looking, faster car for half the price, and the fuel used would hardly make a dent in the money saved. If you want to save the planet, get something with a hydrogen fuel cell.

Not exactly, given that Hydrogen is even more inefficient to power than the electric car (given that to make Hydrogen it takes a hell of a lot of energy (typically electricity)

If you want to save the planet, walk :P
