Cool, thanks.

Also, I'm still not exactly sure how this car's system works. How does it idle? Surely there must be a clutch in there somewhere. Does it utilize start/stop exclusively, to the point where the engine only turns on when the car is going fast enough for it to be above idle? But if there is no clutch that would mean the motors are turning a dead engine all the time which is no easy task. There must be a clutch or something in there somewhere. And if the motors are constantly running then when does it charge the batteries?

The engine is running the whole time, unless you specifically choose to go EV only afaik. There is a wet clutch which engages gradually when the tires spin fast enough for the engine not to stall (at around 30mph/50kph). From there it is still a lot of EV action going on, in the form of torque fill while the engine revs up to its power band. The way it's all designed, the different stages of EV and ICE reach their peak power at slightly different points over the rev band, which is why 1100 ICE + 700 EV HP combines to 1500 HP and not 1800. The torque is enough to keep the car at the slip limit of its tires from 0-170mph/0-275kph, so any improvement of acceleration times between there is purely up to aero/tire compound in the future.

The batteries are charged much like on the P1, by the EV motor bolted on the crankshaft. There is also some amount of regeneration from braking, but that's more a case of "well, might as well since it's free" than something providing actual longevity for the charge levels I believe.

Is this it? Yes, it is. It's beautiful. I just found the car floating around on 9GAG.

Really? I thought it was going to be way more expensive.

Ok, I made a small mistake, it's actually $1.9 million according to Jalopnik. Still, it is quite interesting that such a technological marvel costs only $900.000 than your average normal Veyron. I say "only", because we know that such a number is chump change for the possible owners of a Regera...

Still. I thought the thing would be well over the 2 million mark.

Guess Christian Von Koenigsegg felt like selling that car for less than 2 million. Why is the main question, considering that the Veyron is no more, he could charge more and get more in return.

Well, you can't say it doesn't move on its own power, if anything. And it sounds nice enough, I reckon. I like the burble from the exhaust. I just wish I was able to hear it being driven in more anger, it was on "pedestrian mode" for the whole video.

I also like the random appearance from the Mclaren P1 GTR and the LaFerrari FXXK halfway through the video.

Rear reminds me of the Jaguar XJ220 a bit. Hate the wheels. I still like the looks of the Agera R, and one:1 much better. And at that I think the Mclaren P1 and LaFerrari look SO MUCH sexier and stylish than this. Maybe I'm crazy but the looks don't really do it for me.

No, I 100% agree. You aren't crazy.

Transforming? Would the Regera be an Autobot or a Decepticon? :) Very cool video on this car.
