I thought he considered an F1 license. didn't know Kunos considered a WEC license.

Both were considered but Codies have a lock on the F1 license for awhile. He just made an offhand comment about WEC not being very appealing after most of the LMP1H manufacturers pulled out.

Off topic:

I truly wish that one day Kunos decides to make a proper rallycross game. Not a rally game, like WRC but rallycross. With true to life car handling physics and true to life crash, rollover and what not physics. All the other physics/models must be true to life as well.

Like this:

Rally and rallycross, the ultimate car control!.

On topic:

ACC must be developed first of course. I have no idea why but I love the concept of ACC. A few cars and tracks, an official license with the official teams is what a true sim must be, IMHO of course.

The good thing about ACC being limited in content is that I'm still going to be interested in AC. If I want to use a road car and a track that is not in ACC, I use AC.

The problem I have games like pCars 2 is that it is basically the same game as pCars but better. Buying pCars is a waste of money considering that pCars 2 is better, again IMHO. In that respect, I think Kunos makes the right decisions by not making AC2 but a whole new game build from scratch.
I'm still interested and playing netKar pro for the same reason.
I posted on the AC forum ages ago that Kunos could improve the enjoyment of AC by adding just one vehicle and slightly modifying tracks. That vehicle was a trophy truck, and adding some jumps and diversions to current tracks. Marco Massarutto posted a video the other day to a trophy truck race saying "you don't see that every day". I wish he had seen it a couple years ago. Would love one in a SIM. I know AMS has it but no PC.

I wonder what people's reactions would be if ACC is called GTR3 instead? An officially licensed game containing only cars and tracks for that license. What is this heresy! I want this to be an automotive sandbox with all cars and tracks in the world  You only need to look back 15 years to GTR2 - only 15 or so cars and even less tracks, but with full damage/weather/rules of the 2003/2004 FIA GT season it is one of the undisputed legends of the simracing world (up until now even, graphics notwithstanding).

Not every game has to be a GT/Forza encyclopedia style, or an rFactor/AC style fully open platform. In fact, a focused game, if done well, could be so much more engaging. Everyone is on a level field content wise, and online will have full rooms instead of scattered 2-3 player rooms with cars that only a few players have.

Of course, I love AC's openness and what the rich world of modding could bring. But I have no doubt at all that within weeks we will see mods trickling into ACC. Even old sims that were notoriously "unmoddable" like GPL and RBR end up being expanded with HUGE rosters of cars/tracks and championships. Have faith in the players, we have some really talented people in this community 👍

I know Kunos said ACC is all that's on their mind right now, and I think this is the right approach. They are a small company, and quality over quantity has always been their motto. AC is a huge jump over Netkar Pro, but you can still feel that it's made by the same people. I expect ACC to feel the same. And whatever comes next, it won't be for another 5+ years, but you can bet that it will take everything Kunos has learnt from ACC's development in it, and it will be even better. Just imagine :embarrassed:

I never buy Early Access titles, but for ACC it will be Day 1 for me.

I wonder; is Assetto Corsa Competizione the official title or is it going to change?

You and I have such similar thoughts...on many topics, I might add. 👍 Part of me is glad Kunos is doing what they're doing with ACC rather than making AC2 that is really the same as AC, but with fancier graphics and some upgrades here and there. For me, the main reason is I want to get back to racing. It's not a secret that AC's single player racing has left a lot to be desired - even with several AI improvements. I fell into the AC quicksand of being mainly a hot-lapper & track day driver.

From what we've been told, if I launch ACC and I don't feel like racing, I'm going to become bored rather quickly due to the limited car & track count. ACC will get me back on track with racing and fortunately GT3 racing is my favorite.

For people who use AC now, I'm sure most people would say that AC has the "best driving" experience...excellent physics...pretty good tire model, etc. Well, just because ACC comes out doesn't mean AC is all of a sudden going to suck. If the physics are good today, they'll be good a year from now. Otherwise, we were all just blowing smoke...Heck, people are still playing LFS and rFactor 1! There's no reason AC won't still be extremely enjoyable for PC players. The number of mods we have could really keep a man busy for 5 more years, easily. I seriously doubt top tier modders like A3DR, Fat-Alfie, Lilski, etc. are going to stop doing what they love to do just because ACC early access starts. Heck, we don't even have the full Need For Speed pack yet.

Sadly, these thoughts don't translate well to the console player.

Thank you very much. I hope it will change because Blue Lagoon Sunrise sounds strange.

I love The Blue Lagoon.
Ah yes... Brooke Shields before she went absolutely bonkers. :dunce:  :banghead:

Then you will have the best of both worlds. For me, ACC (based on current known game info) doesn’t interest me because of your exact assessment of AC. With custom championship feature and modding community, I can create racing series. I just created the F1 2018 season with RSS Formula Hybrid 2017 and liveries/tracks from community. I have enough liveries/tracks to create Blancpain GT, ADAC GT Masters, Super GT Japan, and IMSA Weathertech Sportscar GT. I just completed racing Ginetta Supercup championship. I’ve created but yet to start racing: Seat Eurocup, Lambo Super Trofeo, Porsche Supercup, Mazda MX Cup, DTM 1992 season. I think I’ll have enough racing for this year. (Plus, I’ve barely cracked pCARS2!)

Edit: Forgot about the other Formula championships I plan to create. 1967, ‘75, ‘79, ‘84. Plus modern GP3 and GP2. Whew!

Yup. You get it. 👍 Maybe once ACC goes on sale, or whatever, maybe you'll feel like trying it then. But I don't see any reason why Assetto Corsa can't keep me entertained for years to come. Several years, in fact.

I'm pretty sure that ACC is going to be just right for me, eventhough I'm not a big fan of GT3 cars.

Why:
  • Zolder track is going to be a part of ACC
  • Porsche is going to be a part of ACC
  • Kunos delivers top notch driving/racing sims
  • The eye candy of ACC using the UE4 engine. I love eye candy as much as real life physics in all its aspects

I am a fan of GT3 cars, so ACC will certainly be right up my alley. :D
They're not as alive, exciting and dangerous as the vintage cars, but if you fine-tune the AI difficulty they make for some great close racing and allow you to really get "in the zone".

Hear! Hear! I love all the old stuff too. They're so much fun, it's almost ridiculous. As far as modern racing goes, I prefer GT3 and I would probably be totally fine if ACC was with GT4 cars instead. Modern open-wheel is way too much for me and LMP racing is too much for me to do race after race as well. GT3 lands in the middle - enough to satisfy this group, enough to satisfy that group. Plus, I think once people experience Assetto Corsa in a UE4 environment with all new sights and sounds, but with improved physics...those who weren't so happy about ACC being a GT3 title will come around quite quickly. :D And for the 10,000th time...While the graphics are starting to show their age, I don't see why PC players would give up on AC once ACC is released. So, when you're getting a tad bored with the GT3 racing in ACC you can jump right into any car you want on just about any track you can think of with AC. AC physics aren't going to all of a sudden become bad just because a newer version is released. 👍

I also have to say that AC still holds up nicely in terms of graphics. I play this at max. settings in 4k on an LG OLED and it really shines. Car models look fantastic in game, better than GT Sport and Forza 7 models. While the tracks are a bit dated, the whole look is coherent and the replays are still second to none for me. Even GT Sport does not beat them as i find in GT Sport the camera is often too close to the car.

Yes, the track textures and those cardboard trees are ACs weak side when it comes to graphics. It still looks really good and natural overall though.
Totally agree on the camera comment. Fortunately on PC we can edit the cameras to be exactly how we like them.

On the ring there is one 3D tree lol. Shame they aren't more prevalent as I find those 2D trees even when not looking at them don't do a great job of fooling the brain.

@kikie
nice, take a group pic with them if you can (or want) :)
I'm not sure if I'm going. It's round two of the Blancpain GT3 series. If I should go, I have to pay an entrance fee and this only to meet a bunch of race game developers ...... .

Nope using a controller because he wheel and chair hurt my back to much. I tried it but it was good. It was cool and very fun.

What’s your opinion on assetto corsa it’s on sale on Xbox but I hear a new game for pc is out later this summer (I wonder if it will come to Xbox as well). Is it worth getting assetto corsa now and why is it different from project cars 2 and worth owning as well or is it better to just possibly wait if the new assetto corsa comes to Xbox. Do I need another sim and if so why?

Cant you get a chair that doesn't hurt your back? Pcars2 has much more content, But AC has better quality content and feels more natural to me. You don't need 2 sims, but then you don't need 1 sim.

Nope done with trying a wheel. Moving on I’m fine with the controller. The other part of your post I guess thanks for the assetto corsa opinion.

I had a wheel here for two months and was really good with it, faster than with the controller, but it always felt like "too much", too much commitment (space wise, money wise) just for casual racing. It was a super nice experience because i wanted to get to grips with why people praise wheels so much. Now i know. But it's nothing i could use on a regular basis long term, i just love to relax my whole body when gaming and just move my fingers :D
Maybe i will get another one in the future but only when i will have more than a one room apartment. I can totally see myself having a proper racing rig for couple thousand bucks sitting in a corner of a spare room or in the garage, but as of now, its just not for me.

My personal opinion.

pCars2, as far as I know after trying the pc demo version, is probably a very good game. But so is Assetto Corsa. Assetto Corsa is a, let's say a previous gen. game and the content is limited. But if you like sims, which are very realistic, I'd definitely recommend getting AC as well. The realisme of AC feels more natural and more, uuhh realistic. I have no idea if AC on the Xbox is worth it though.

The new ACC (Assetto Corsa Competiozone) is a licensenced race game featuring only GT3 race cars. No road cars, no sportscars, no vintage cars whatsoever. For this reason, it is imparitive to get both ACC and AC. Not sure if ACC is going to make to the Xbox. We have to wait and see.

The advantage of AC is that it has different kind of cars. Let summaries by saying; yes, AC is definitely worth getting (don't forget, I have the PC version).

My way of thinking is, if you have to money to spare and you're interested in race sims, it is definitely worth having both sims. AC and pCars2. They are both different and give different experiences.
