I'll still get it and if the racing is good, well organized and busy it could end up being my go to online racing sim.

I think this is the part a lot of people miss, or it just doesn't pertain to them. I'm a pretty much 100% online racer and for me the biggest appeal of that is having fun racing and chatting with mates, what we're racing or where we're racing doesn't really matter that much as long as we're all together having some banter on Discord/TeamSpeak while we hoon our virtual toys. With a good group of friends I could race the same car on the same track every week for a couple years and not get tired of it. Hell, how long did we race that Cappucino in GT5? Like two years straight? Still some of the most fun I've had in sim racing to this day.

Obviously none of this helps offline players and I imagine they will get bored of the content within a year.

Instead of discouraging contact through excessively strict and unfair penalties, discourage it with the fact that you can, literally, destroy your car.

Oh by all means, I'm all for damage, believe me. I'm no fan of penalties, especially when they aren't implemented properly. It's just worrying when you have bitter persons who, let's say got a small rub and lost a position, and decides to take everyone out in one kamikaze style attack. Yeah they will most probably be banned and penalized for it, but that's the end of the race for everyone else who got affected. It can get frustrating.

I mean it does seem to add a sort of deterrence and it appears to be working fine in sims like iRacing, but it's still a concern.

I think it's fair to assume all variants of Nurburgring will appear at some point after release through Kunos or mods.
As @Johnnypenso stated, it's a must have in modern sims.

And who knows, perhaps SRO will say in 2019/20...
You know what?
We need to get Nurburgring on the schedule it's extremely popular with our fans.

Those people will, likely, meet the banhammer quite quickly, as you said. Yes, they may ruin people's races once but not much more. Also, rammers are not likely to pick a game, with that kind of damage, because every ramming attempt they fail will result in them not being able to attempt any more rams. That'll be frustrating, like crazy, to them.

Maybe it's because I'm Canadian and grew up surrounded by a dozen different languages and cultures but it bugs me when a media "professional" doesn't even make a minimal effort to learn the proper pronunciation of something as basic as someone's name or their product name. Stefano Cassillio? Competishionay? Especially annoying when you're interviewing someone who has learned your own language as a second language!
Frankly, I think you're a little bit out of line here. It's a well known fact that on Day One at the Columbia University School of Journalism students are taught to say "Cool." after every question they've asked during an interview. Once they've got that down, after a few weeks of practice, they then move on to the second half of Journalism 101: When conducting an interview it is best that you go into the interview with as little preparation as possible, particularly when it comes to interviewee names and/or product names. That's Ivy League, bro!

The problem is not with cars classe; my biggest worries is tracks.

Take F1 for example; a great game/series with only 1 single type of cars. And it doesn't even come close to what Kunos offers in AC regarding F1 cars. So I just can't imagine the amount of details ACC will have in that regard.

But 10 tracks?!?! Only 10?!?! and no green hell?!? That's bad! F1 games have around 18.
I guess they should add more tracks, even if they aren't race-able in eSports or official championships, but make them race-able in online casual lobbies and single player etc...
Believe me, I know where those sentiments come from. Heck, I have over 400 AC tracks installed along with over 700 vehicles. I have been doing my best to look at ACC in a different light. Instead of ACC being a replacement for AC, in the way that PCars 2 replaces PCars 1, ACC is going to be a companion to AC. When I want to hot lap and rip up the Nordschleife, Content Manager will start AC for me and I'll be content driving what I believe is still the best "driving" title for PC players. You know, physics, FFB, etc... When I want to race, however, I will be loading Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Heck, you guys who have PCars 2 are sort of already doing that. PCars 2 - Night, Rain, Top Quality Graphics and much better racing compared to Assetto Corsa. But, none of you have uninstalled AC, right? You'll still fire up AC when you want to, right?

I've got no other way to look at the situation because contrary to what some fools on the internet think, ACC isn't just a test with AC2 waiting right around the corner. I'm not even convinced Kunos will EVER go back to the AC formula.

I liked the initiative and the new game, but i do not think it is a good idea to abandon the original game, very premature, we are in the same generation and the original game has more content and potential to continue to succeed, adding new tracks and new cars, winning more market share. I know the team is small but they could continue to support the original game, even if by DLC's, unless they already have an Assetto Corsa 2 in mind...

What do you mean "same generation"?The early access for AC was 4,5 years ago and the game was released 3,5 years ago (final edition).
So its odd for them to move to another project after 4-5 years?BTW there are no plans for AC2.They already said that ACC is their next main product/focus.

I thought it was "awesome" and not cool:lol:

In the consoles, where i am also a customer and i do not have access to mods and new tracks and cars would be my and a few people's wish before they closed the project, see, it's one of the best simulators on the market, in PCs, IRacing, Rfactor2, RaceRoom and Automobilista continue.., even if with late graphics, i think it would be able to continue in the market too, but the decision is theirs...and i know what they said, i was just speculating, more like a wish.

There is nothing in that statement that precludes the inclusion of other cars, tracks or other content.
At 33:30 mark the possibility of DLC outside of the Blancpain Europe Series is confirmed. It will depend on whether the game reaches a critical mass of players to make DLC worthwhile. It won't be a weird mix of cars and series but Blancpain Asia and GT4 were both mentioned as possibilities. A support series would be great IMO. The impression I get is that anything that is related to Blancpain and support series is on the table if the game is popular enough but random cars are probably out.

If it comes to console, it needs to ship with Blancpain Asia. 10 tracks is not will not go down well on console. Also Marco replied to someone on FB the other week that Blancpain have put no restrictions or stipulations on them, in regards to content etc. I will find the post later.

I think I know the post you are referring to but he cautions that upon release of ACC do not expect anything other than the Blancpain content. He mentions they are not restricted in any way in terms of adding other content but that they are completely focused at this point on the core Blancpain series and tracks.

Here's the video in my words again:

Was developing ACC as exciting as AC?
They know exactly what to do with because they now have the Blancpain license. It's very different from what they did in AC. It was difficult to create AI for all the cars in AC. It's easier to work on everything in ACC since all the cars are so similar. If you give the AI the possibility to try things, like make mistakes (try going through a turn at a different speed for example) will allow it to better. Let the AI learn and experiment. The driving line changes when it rains, curbs will handle differently. They have good plans for that, it's very complicated.

Since it's 64 bit, would it be possible to have a full 50-60 cars on the grid?
64 bit is not related to that. 32 bit doesn't allow for large data points which is a limitation for simulation. For example in AC, on the Nordschleife, if you stop in some places, the car will "breath", which is caused by a limitation in the imperfection of 32 bit and the spring calculations. 64 bit means that it'll remove that limitation, but you still have the limitation for graphics. Small movement in the springs will be better represented. The main problem for larger car grids is that all the opponent cars run their own physics simulation so the CPU becomes the bottleneck. The only ways to fix this is either: downgrade the physics (which they'll never do) or come up with a simplified physics for the AI (but that means they'll act differently from what the driver can do, that's really obvious in other games that do that). You'll need a powerful CPU to run more cars, just like AC. At the moment, the target is 30 cars.

You alluded to a more fleshed out career mode, such as a driving school. Is that fleshed out or is it still in being designed?
We're still figuring out what we can do and what we want to do. Massarutto likes the Codemaster's F1 games. They take inspiration from games like the F1 games. ACC will have a career and a championship mode (I'm assuming that's like the one in AC).

Would it be able for a player to create their own team, car, livery, etc?
People will be able to create their own livery with a set of sponsors. They'll be able to use it online. Other drivers can see it without the need to share files.

Blancpain has long endurance races which means there'll be driver swaps. How will this work in offline mode? Can the AI take over? Can I save mid race?
Saving mid race is an essential part of the game. Driver swap is difficult. AI can take over your car, but there are two problems. You'll have to sit there and watch the AI drive. The other problem is you'll want to accelerate the time, but that won't have the whole simulation. They'll try to make it as close to possible but it won't be exact. It'll be a balancing act.

Will weather be dynamic? What elements will be dynamic or preset?
They don't know. There are 3 steps, they need to hit step 2. It's complicated for example, if there's a simulation of the entire race track and you join a multiplayer midrace, there's a lot of information that needs to be synchronized. If they make a complicated system, it won't be able to work in multiplayer so that can't do that. Too early to say, they're working on it right now: how the lines clean up, wet, marbles, slippery, how the water cleans up the rubber, etc. Hopefully they all work. It'll change how people think GT3 cars are boring, add some water and they become not boring.

Live weather is featured in other games (replicating real weather at the exact time in game). Will ACC have this?
They're considering it. They don't know if it'll be in the game. It won't be realistic to race in the cold weather during the winter. It would be more realistic to race at a track with the same conditions as the real race, but it'll remove the random element. He was at Hungaroring two weeks ago to laser scan the track but it was snowing. They had to reschedule the laser scan.

Will there be rubbering in on the line, off line marbles?
AC already has a version of that. Expect an evolution of that.

Will ACC be VR ready? Was there any challenges?
When they designed the game, they had VR in mind. If something wasn't gonna work with VR, they'll try to design it another way. It comes down to the Unreal engine. If Unreal breaks VR then it's out of Kuno's control. When they designed VR for AC it just worked like magic, they didn't have to do anything. They're trying to integrate the UI for VR so you don't have to take off the headset. It wasn't possible for AC because the interface was based on HTML. All the problems in AC was because it was developed before VR was a thing. Same goes to UI problems for console, they didn't expect the game to be made for console.

People are hungry for a feature complete, hardcore racing simulation, such as getting stuck in a gravel pit, limited set of tires, getting punctures, etc. How hardcore will ACC be?
"Do you want to get stuck in a gravel pit after 23 hours?" The game punishes your mistake such as making a mistake and getting stuck in the gravel. Not a fan of things like punctures and engine failure, unless it's caused by your driving style such as cutting the track will cause the probability of punctures to go up. The car won't let you go over the red line or shift too son. Not a fan of uncalled for mechanical failure. They like the idea if you're abusing the curb, the chances of suspension breaking goes up. They've been thinking about doing this for 5-6 years, but they don't have the time for it. They must hit deadlines. Hopefully it'll make it in time.

eSports is big right now. What kind of broadcasting functionality will ACC have?
Improve what they have. Spectator mode, broadcasting mode is sorely missing in AC. By redesigning the multiplayer system, it's one of the most important things they want to change. They have a lot of plans, but what matters is what you're able to code into the game. It'll be dishonest to say there will be a broadcasting software ready.

Ranked multiplayer is something you talked about. Will people be able to host their own server/league?
Yes. There'll be an open discussion on the forums about things such as letting servers turn off the ranking system so that you can wreck and not ruin your career.

Will be able to pick your own livery when joining a server?
Yes, that's the plan. Won't make the same mistakes again.

AC lasted for about 7 years. Will ACC last around a similar amount of time or will we expect a new game in the future?
They are focused on ACC right now. There's a long term strategy but they're focused on this. They want to see how it works with Unreal 4.

Is the license for Blancpain only or is it with SRO? Will there be DLCs for GT4, GT Asia Series, PWC?
Depends on how people react to the release. They'll have to make it sustainable, also from a financial point of view. For AC, they never expected so many cars. They don't expect to mix with other series that are not related to Blancpain. The Asia series and the GT4 are related to Blancpain. People like it, they'll decide after release. DLCs need a large amount of users for it to be viable.

Anything exclusive for RaceDepartment?
ACC is a dream that came true. In 2008 they had a chance to create the official game for the Italian GT Championship in the NetKar Pro era. They invested almost everything into it. Worked for 6 months. They discovered that the motorsport federation who granted permission to do that didn't actually have the legal right to do that so they almost went bankrupt. Wasted 6 months. With their partnership with Ferrari they created Ferrari Virtual Academy game. Everything changed after that. In 2016, they discussed what to do after AC's console release. They decided an official Blancpain GT Series will be a cool revenge for that.

Any more insight on the potential restrictions on bringing cars, tracks, liveries into ACC?
They don't have any idea how to support modding in Unreal engine and they have no time to do it. They have to figure out how the engine works. That's difficult enough. Supporting modding means leaving the door open for other people to enter. Which means more work must be done to let that door open. The time is just not there. It's the 2018 season, for it to release in 2020 would mean nothing. Modding let them meet great guys. It allowed AC to be better since they found things Kunos couldn't. It'll be a great loss. It's an important part of AC. If they could, they would have done it. They won't stop people from doing modding.

You mentioned real life recordings for cars. What are differences between the audio in AC and ACC?
Before, they would ask teams if they could do recordings while they tested at Vallenguga. But now, they have direct access to all the cars during testing, during race weekend, etc. They're able to work with the teams because the teams know they're there to record the their own team's sounds. The teams are interested for their cars are well done. Some teams already use AC. Having a simulation for Blancpain is great for teams, drivers, sponsors. It's more important for the teams to have the most realistic possible simulation for the cars in the game.

When will early access come out?
Summer, around then. Available at Misano, end of June. Early access soon after that.

Again, lots of information.

I think I know the post you are referring to but he cautions that upon release of ACC do not expect anything other than the Blancpain content. He mentions they are not restricted in any way in terms of adding other content but that they are completely focused at this point on the core Blancpain series and tracks.
I never expected anything other than GT3 tbh, but it was still interesting that he pointed that out. Still, would be nice to get GT4 too.

Will 10 tracks go down well on PC? Consoles or not, it would be a disappointingly small number of tracks for a full-blown AC successor.
Kunos has a great deal of goodwill built up in the pc racing community. More than anyone else by quite some margin in my opinion. They put out a simple, high quality product, left it wide open for modding which massively increased the available (and free) content, with a physics engine that most people who played it found natural and intuitive. They communicated directly and freely with fans in a very real and down to earth way and showed themselves to be decent human beings that didn't put on any pretense or sense of being above the rest of us. More than any other group of developers they seemed to be more like us, car lovers and racing enthusiasts who happened to be extremely good at making games that showcased their love for cars and racing. I think because of the goodwill and loyalty they've built up over these last few years this game will sell pretty well on pc but not as well as AC. I just hope it sells well enough to trigger that GT4 or Blancpain Asia DLC:)

GT4 is my favorite class.

SRO had announced last year the 2018 European series is joining Blancpain for all 5 rounds.

It would make excellent sense to include GT4 via DLC after 1.0 releases, for two reasons.

One, GT4 are basically farm teams bringing up new drivers that Kunos could easily have access to with the existing Blancpain arrangement.

Two, and the big one...
Nurburgring.
Everyone wants Nurburgring (that I know) and GT4 runs it.

No other DLC makes better sense following the Blancpain dedicated release.

I agree that adding GT4 make sense but not because of those reasons.
It make sense from "adding more content" point of view,in order to make the title more attractive (one track and a lot of GT4 cars).

Actually,if you dont count "mods",AC does not have the "biggest" track list in the market.I understand your point that 10 tracks is a small number, but 19 is not big either (after 5 years).

Race 5 for GT4 is at Hungargooring??

I've never heard of this track and cannot pronounce or spell it.
Anyone have any info? Is it good?
