Wish I could GET a frikin 2J. I've been spending like crazy to keep away from $20 million, and I've cycled the UCL hundreds and hundreds of times. I only saw the 2J ONCE, and that was when I started the game and had like $500,000 (and thought it was alot of money). It's actually one of the few race cars I don't have.

I'd gift you one if it was possible to. I have one online for borrowing if you want...

Thanks guys! I took a few pointers regarding the pit stop strategy for La Sarthe as I had been struggling to 1 - pick a car my Bob seemed to work well in and 2 - I clearly made a bad pit decision meaning, what should have been a win, actually turned into a rendition of "dancing on ice" in a race car.

I used the 787B with full downforce front and rear, with small adjustment to the limiter to keep it within the 700pp. I had been keeping an eye out for the 2J but the only time I sae this in my UCD, I hadn't got nearly enough cash! Kind of glad now though as I feel like I earned this one lol :) I used 2 drivers, a 35 & 39.

Started the race on Racing Hard where my lvl 35 Bob was told to kill it all the way round. Despite looking a little shaky in this car, he managed to cut through the pack and was in 4th by the time the leaders pitted in. I was going to pull Bob in at the end of lap 3 but changed my mind 💡 seeing as he was doing better than I had expected. I decided to bring him in at the end of lap 4. Halfway round I was starting to think I would regret this choice... Bob looked to struggle as the saturation level continued rising. :nervous:

Once the pit stop had taken place my regular Bob beasted the remaining laps and had just enough rubber to finish the race without it becoming uncomfortable in the corners. Obviously he was trying to pit still at the end of lap 8, 9 & 10. When the time came for the other cars to pit again, he was in 2nd place ready to take the lead into lap 10.

The previous race I failed in, I had brought my first Bob in at the end of lap 2 but that was just too much for the second Bob on the last lap. Tyres were shredded by that point and the huge lead was thrown away and he barely held onto 3rd!!! In hindsight, I think the end of lap 4 actually started feeling like I had missed the best window and I was going to pay again, however in this car it actually was the better call as there was no way the tyres would have lasted one more lap.

I just witnessed some weird Bob lapse in skill. Had pitted with new inters on and coming into Mulsanne, Bob goes off the track into the sand and makes his way back to the track. But when he got there he drove slow, and I mean really slow, on the side with two wheels on the asphalt and the other two just barely in the dirt.

Bob's meter wasn't even in the red, there were no other cars around him and like I said, his tires were half a lap old (track was < 50% wetness). Cost me the race as it happened twice.

Then I started over, same thing happened on lap 1 only dry track, new Bob and there were a couple of cars around.

wtf? Anyone else have this happen?

Oh, absolutely. It's pretty well documented. It's not known WHY he goes 50mph for 500 yards when he gets out of the kitty litter - maybe he'd cleaning the crud off the tires - but all Bobs do it. Even the AI Bobs you're racing against will do that if (when) they spin off.

The only solution is to keep Bob from going off; gotta cool him down - WAY down, sometimes - before he gets to the Mulsanne corner. Very aggravating when a seemingly experienced Bob does this crap, though. :(

Yup, me too. Several people are sharing them, though, along with the Nissan R390GT, so even if you haven't found one yet, you can use some of ours!

First of all let me thank everyone for their contribution to this thread. I thought I was going to lose my mind at one point trying to win this race in a "conventional" manner the past several days. I tried using the cars I like ('05 Audi R8 PlayStation Team Oreca, Audi '01 R8 Race Car, The Toyota GTOne, the '03 Pescarolo Courage C60 PlayStation2 ed., even the C60 Hybride '05 Judd Race Car) all of which failed to net a 1st place finish until I took the OP's advice and won w/ the 2J. Yes it was boring and surreal (racing in the dark....and in the rain w/ no headlights) but it netted me completion of this challenge, another FAP and 6million credits.

I ramped up the LSD on the car to 35 55 35 and ran the tranny w/ a top speed of 254.

Suspension:

Ride Height: FR: -1 RR: -5
Spring Rate: FR: 15 RR: 19.5
Dampers 8 all 'round
Anti Roll Bars: FR: 6 RR: 7
Camber: FR: 2.0 RR: 1.0
Toe: FR: 0.00 RR: .20

I used two level 38 Bobs one w/ arrow down and one w/ green straight across. I started the green lit driver as the starter. I used SS's all the way pushing the pace all the while & only pitting at lap 7 where I fell behind to 5th but clawed my way back with focused coaching. Again, I focused on keeping the driver's pushing the pace of the car the whole time except for notable areas of concern namely the Muslanne straight and the Porsche Curves, where I slowed the drivers paces specifically on the 7th lap before pitting (due to driver fatigue) and on the 8th and 9th laps (due to wet conditions and new SS tires).

This absolutely worked for me and I finished nearly 25 seconds ahead. Good luck to all & hope this helps.:gtpflag:

I did that, too - the funny thing is, once you get that win under your belt, you feel better about trying it with some different cars, because you know you can always win it again with the 2J if you get discouraged! I've won it with the '05 and '01 Audi R8s, but not the others.

I almost won it today in the afternoon with my 2 highest bobs (lvl 27 and lvl 18) in a GT one race. I did a 1 stop strategy, but it didn't work. In the last lap my bob was leading the race but the tyres were completly ruined, so he spinnend like a madman at many corners (I was so pissed that I shut the game off, while he could still finish 2nd or 3rd stupid me). This was my 2nd attempt. The first one I finished 7th, but I was only racing with 1 bob (he was lvl 23 at that time). I'm going to win the next attempt for sure

I will definitely try it again with the different cars Kwicko not to mention the added XP that my LVL 38 BOBs picked up. Again, you guys are all to be commended for bringing this subject to the fore and discussing the strategies, b/c I had nearly written this seasonal off completely! Now I'll run it front time to time while it lasts just to pick up the easy $$$ sort of like the old Ferrari Sarthe challenge.

Full credit goes to those who figured out that the 2J on sports softs and no pit stops was one quick way to beat this. From there, people started finding many other ways, and more importantly, they started sharing their information, setups, etc.

Did it first time with the BMW LMR, pitted on 2 and 7. When de tuning the car, don't just power it down, power it down a little, add a little weight and take off a little aero, to balance it out a bit. Other than that, a little coaching it was easy.

Good approach. I've learned much the same lessons; I haven't added weight yet (I'll have to try it!), but I've been playing with that fine balance between downforce for the twisty bits and outright power for the straights.

That's actually one of my favorite AND most-hated aspects of this event: You have to get that balance right, AND you have to have the right long-term coaching and pit strategies in order to pull off the win.

And then, of course, as with so many races, someone comes along with the unfair advantage by finding a hole in the rulebook big enough to drive a winning car through! :D

As B-spec events go, this one has struck me as the one with the best balance, the closest approximation of the real thing, that feeling of actually being part of a racing team and having to make decisions and live with the consequences. I applaud PD for getting this event so right, and for making B-spec quite a bit of fun while still being a challenge, and I hope they'll move forward with more events like this.

I've won it 3 times in a row, using the Audi R8 Team Oreca.
Only settings I changed: Full Down Force and HP
Added weight, set max speed to 249.
Bobs are 32 and 26.
I start the race prompting to pass {4} at the start then {2}
through the 1st corners. Using 3 down the straight and 1 into the chicanes.
Again 1 in the hairpin at the end of the straight.
I found that using 1 where I had been using 2 really helped catching the pack.
My Bobs were even passing when prompted 1.

Won on the first try with the Audi R8 '05 (default tune).
Started with Racing Hards. Pit for intermediates on 4th or 5th lap. Then finish the race from there (the opponents pitted on the last lap so I went from 4th to 1st place during the beginning of the 10th lap).

Has anybody tried using the Furai?
I just tried it and my bobs just got third and were trailing by 7 seconds
Here goes attempt 2
Edit- attempt 2 and they got eleventh through my poor pit strategy I believe

ALRIGHT!

Finally managed to win the sarthe - and since the car was one from NCD and tactics were different I shall report to fellow GTfans.

I was using lvl34 (hot) and lvl37(a bit cooler) bobs and the 908 HDI from NCD 👍. Took a while to find the tactics (have 1300 km on the 908 now :ill:). I was running highish downforce 55/75 maybe and tranny at around 410km/h.

I tried the SS no pitstop - not quite there with this car. Then i noticed that there was no problem on tyrewear of the FRONT tyres so I went out with RI front SS rear -combination. Can be done with one good bob no pit - just have to take it down cold on first 2 and last 2 laps as RIs run hot on more dry track and wear fast otherwise.

The winning tactic then. I started RH/RH tires with the hot bob pushing hard (around 90%) the first 3laps trying to take as many cars as possile before usual pitstop at beginning of lap 4. Here it was a change of tactic:idea: - Changed to the cool bob and RI/SS tire combination to run the remaining 7laps (around 60%) without the other pit stop. Came to this as RI/SS tires keep up with the pack slightly better on the wet laps compared to SS front tyres. And as a bonus you will have fresh set of RI/SS tyres at the beginning of lap 8 - no tyre wear on wet cool track. So as others go to pits at the beginning of lap 10 you have WARM fresh tyres. This was key as the R8 '01 came out of pits neck to neck with my 908. It was a close race on lap 10 - but pushing hard I managed to drive the R8 making mistakes as it had still COLD TIRES.:sly:

Finally finished some good 15sec ahead in time around 40.50.

edit: I was using brakes 5/4 to prevent the bob braking rubber off the rear tyres

Wow i love it, mixing tires! I love it when your in a last lap race with the Audi, just the two of you. I have found myself watching many times the Audi exit the pits coming around 10. As you found out your chances are good because the Audi bob is nervous and pushing it hard with cold tires which = mistakes. Good job!

I have a 2J but not sure how to lend it out. Just recently bought it and won a few races with it. To be honest there is more fun winning with the Audi or another ride where you HAVE to pit.

Really? I couldn't do squat with my GT one. I will try your set up.

To share cars with others:

1) Get out of the car. You can't be in a car you're sharing, and once you share it, it's unavailable to you. (Helps to have more than one.)

2) Click on the car in your garage, bringing it up on your screen. Look to the bottom of the screen where the line of buttons is (gift to friend, sell change number, etc.); to the left, there is a button that lets you put the car to "Online Status" - that's when it's being shared. Click that, and it will upload the car online for others to see.

3) Whoever wants to borrow the car has to send a friend request via PSN, and you have to accept it and add them as a friend so you're recognized in-game as friends.

4) Once you do all that, they can click on "Profile" in the GTLife screen, click on your avatar, and see what cars/drivers you're sharing. Pick a car, click "Borrow", and they're in your car, ready to go!

[Note: Sharing drivers doesn't work this way. Everything sets up pretty similarly - you go into your "Drivers" list, click on a driver, and put 'em online, which makes them unavailable to you - but people can't borrow your drivers for anything but "Remote Race" events. They can't use them to run the Le Sarthe event, in other words. Bummer.]

I've been sharing a 2J, R390GT Road Car, Audi R8 '05 and '01, and others for a few weeks now, and encourage others to do the same for all who want to win some good payouts on the Le Sarthe, B-spec Spa, and A-Spec Time Trial events.

Surely he means "gears 247mph", not 147, right? :)

But yeah, I've tried the GT-ONE a couple times, and it's been a miserable failure for me.

Thanks Kwiko, I will share my 2j.

you speak the truth! Won it on my first try with the GT 1. Only by 2 secs. but I'll take it. So now I have won it with 4 cars - both Audi's, the 2J and now this.
