How is it my lvl 38 driver is such a moron? He can't even stop the Bentley from passing him :(

What a crock of ****. Nothing works. Every try gets worse and worse. I better give up before ALL my sanity is lost.

May I ask the reasoning behind using the high-RPM range turbo, if we need to lower the HP to get below 700PP? The mid-range turbo will get you well above 700PP (assuming no ballast or aero changes). Compared to the high-range turbo, it provides much more torque, and peak HP arrives at a lower RPM, especially with HP limited to get to 700PP. Am I missing something here?

I'll admit, the best my Lvl. 37 Bob has done so far is 2nd in the R8 Team PlayStation on Sports Softs, no pits.

P.S. Some people may assume that the turbo kits in GT5 must be purchased in stages, as the Weight Reduction and Engine Tuning do. This is false, you may buy and install any of the three kits right away, which is why I refrained from saying "Stage 3".

People generally use the "big turbo" and limiter combo to not just get higher HP numbers or torque, but to pancake the power curve - Whereas the R92 might pull 1097hp max, if you use the limiter to cut it down to 1000 or so, it's hitting that peak power number well below the unlimited engine's power peak, and keeping it right to the rev limit. So the power plateau's at 4000rpm or so, and stays at those levels to 8000rpm or thereabouts.

And what I'm finding by trying the diesel cars (Audi R10, Peugeot 908) is that the higher torque isn't a big help, as Bob just spends more time searing the tires coming off the slow corners.

So that's where I was approaching it from.

I'll try the mid-range turbo at some point, though, just to see how it cooks.

I've mostly been concentrating on high-HP/low downforce approaches, and have won with those with the R8 '01, the R92CP, and the Chappy 2J, and I've lost with the 908, the R10, and the '92 905. My next approach will be to try lower power settings and higher downforce, since my Bobs (a) can't slipstream worth a **** anyway, so trying to make up time and positions on the Mulsanne is a crapshoot, and (b) they have a tendency to lose it in the Porsche and Dunlop curves and slide off or spin. So more downforce is in the offing.

What I love about this event is that it's gone from "Can't be done?" status, through "Hard as heck, but winnable" status, to "Let's see how ELSE I can win it" territory. There isn't a single solution, or necessarily a "best" way, but there are proving to be several ways to skin this particular cat.

You might have to slow down a bit in order to speed up. If you're frustrated, your Bobs might be getting frustrated as well. Sometimes I have to cool my Bobs down in order to speed them up.

Meanwhile, hit me up on PSN ("Kwicko"); I've got a couple of 2Js I'm sharing, along with a bunch of others I've won with (and an R10 I couldn't do much with, but anyone else is welcome to try!).

I've won this event several times now, with Bobs from Level 32 to 40, but I still can't say I've found a "guaranteed" way to do it. The 2J on Sports Softs is the most consistent winner I've found; he can win with NO pit stops, and I've won with one pit stop with him, too.

All I know is the Bob is a complete moron, when faced with other AI. He refuses to draft properly, but will happily let everyone else draft off him and pass.

I've tried everything from the Judd, to the R92, Minolta, and R8. Needless to say, it's not the car. Maybe I'll try one last shot with the 2J and Sport Softs, and no pits, and see how frustrating it is. It would be easy to win, if Bob knew how to block and/or not brake when attempting to pass.

I've been having trouble with this event too. Tried the GT-ONE, the Minolta, the Audi R10, the Toyota 7, foolishly tried to see if I could get the X2011 below the limit, and did the same thing with the F2010, but decided not to try it, as I had to turn the aero down to minimum, the ballast up to max, and the power nearly all the way down to 50%, so it was only producing about 360BHP by the time it was 700PP.

I've read through the topic, and I can see most people are recommending the Chaparral 2J; unfortunately, I don't have one of those. :(

Have to admit that the 2J did the trick. No pit stops and sports soft tires, and just kept him at about 60% on the bar (except when it increases automatically with passing). I was in 1st when everyone pitted on lap 9, meaning a substantial win.

The 2J, while only 650PP, has great acceleration and grip around the corners. It maxed out at 320km/h on the straights. The lack of headlights makes it dangerous at night :D lol

Thanks for the tips everyone. I should have used the 2J to begin with, and save me 3 hours. Live and learn.

Finally did this with the playstation audi r8. :)
lowering aero values to 45f, 55r allowed the car to be faster on the long straights, and raising
the transmission to 249mph was key too.
Pitted laps 2 & 7 for RI tyres.
It would be great if pd released Aspec seasonal versions of these events.
Anyway kudos pd, I never thought i'd enjoy a bspec event this much!

Never had the 2J. Today I finally beat it with the Audi R8 from the OCD.

Pit stops at the end of lap 2 and 7. Won the race by a few seconds.

But fortunately for you, several of us DO have one or more of them, and are more than willing to share. :) I've posted two 2Js up for sharing, and had about 7 or 8 people make good use of them, so hit me up. "Kwicko" on PSN; send friend request, I'll add you, and you can enjoy from there (and make a cool 6,000,000Cr while you're at it!).

Several have stated that the 2J is a "cheap" win, which I can totally understand. Still, if you hit that wall of frustration and just want to prove to yourself that you CAN win this confounded event, it's a quick way to get a shot of confidence. I used it for that purpose, and then went and tried other ideas, some of which worked, many of which abjectly failed.

I'd actually love an A-spec version, but it would probably be too easy! And yes, they really have made quite a challenging B-spec event. I don't recall even the Formula GT Championship in B-spec being this challenging.

My hat's off to PD for this round of events. And if what I heard earlier about the next A-spec seasonals is true, then my hat will be off to them yet again. Who'd have thought that more than a year after release, PD is still making the game more and more fun?

Tried it 2 times with the 787B best was a 5th place so far. But it should be possible 👍

Tried once more, this afternoon, and ended up 5th again. I still think it's possible, but I got sick of b;owing it on the final lap, and went with the 2J.

The 2J needs a stage 3 turbo as it is down on power, and with all upgrades and what not, it still falls just shy of the 700pp limit.

For all the others, a stage 3 turbo with Bob in control, tends to produce less wheel spin when exiting corners, thus increasing tyre life.

...what I'm finding by trying the diesel cars (Audi R10, Peugeot 908) is that the higher torque isn't a big help, as Bob just spends more time searing the tires coming off the slow corners....

Thanks for the replies. The 2J example makes sense. And in the LMPs, Bob seems to need any help he can get keeping wheelspin in check.

That was kind of my point with using the Mid-RPM turbo. At least in the case of the R8 Team PS Oreca '05 (and most cars I've found), using the Mid-RPM turbo gives you a bigger "pancake" than if you have the High-RPM one. The power plateaus even earlier, and still stays at its maximum until redline. The horsepower levels at lower RPMs (before the pancake) are higher also.

But, it seems the point is moot here, since Bob can't get out of the hole without turning the rubber to dust. I'm about to try again with the High-RPM turbo and lower downforce.

stock chaparal 2j, oil change, medium turbo, gear ratio set at 255mph, start with sports soft, 3/4 hype, no more no less, change to intermediates at lap 3, half hype for the rest of the race, cancel pit... won by 5s, no mistakes. first bob was level 26 low mood, red bob (dont recommend red bobs), second bob was level 27 low mood, blue bob, could win by more with a better bobs.

I just won in my 2nd time in-a-row with an Audi R8 Race Car '01 The car was completely stock except for an oil change (i think) and then reduced the aero in the rear until I was at 700PP

I used 2 Level 35 Bobs for the event. They have about 280 races under their belts.

I started with Racing Hards and By the time I pitted on lap 3 with all the other cars I was in 3rd place. I switched to Racing Intermediates and to my other bob and made a very exciting pass on the OUTSIDE for the lead in the Porsche Curves on the end of Lap 4. bob quickly pulled away from the rest of the field and I kept him at around 55-85%. At the end of lap 8, I pitted once again because I was worried about his strength. By that time my lead had rocketed to 47 seconds. I switched bobs, got new intermediates, and made a dash to the finish for the last 2 laps keeping him over 90%. Despite wearing out my tires a lot, he ran an incredible lap time on the last lap while the surface water was still at 40%. It happened to be 1 second slower than my actual fastest lap while the surface water was at 10%! In the end, I finished the event in around 39:34.xxx and won by approximately 1 minute 14 seconds.

Both my bob's are red mooded and they worked fine, admitedly they were both L40 so might be the reason 👍 I used the 2J and pitted at the end of lap 2 to swap to RI and the one Bob ran the rest of the race. He wanted to pit at the end of L9 due to tyres being low in the rear, but I told him not to and he got home with bugger all tyres left.

Bob must be using NVG though, there is no way I could do that race in the dark without headlights

I just did this, with High-RPM turbo.

Entered only one Bob, P. Knox, Lvl. 37. My second best Bob, F. Massa, is Lvl. 31, so I left him out. I kept Mr. Knox around 80% in the heat meter. He did great, keeping the lead from lap 3 until he pitted. Regained P1 when the rest of the field pitted the next lap, but by then he was exhausted and spun out a few times. I kept him cooler, 60% or so, and he stayed on the track. He still kept in front until a Pescarolo passed him in the Ford chicanes on The. Very. Last. Lap! :ouch:

I'm still going to keep at it with this car, I'll try adding F.Massa and a one-stop strategy with Sport Softs next time.

La Sarthe overnight is gorgeous, so this event is quite nice to grind!

I don't think you can make it with one bob driving all the way, I tried it before and it failed.

1 bob, 1 2J, no tuning, just Sport Soft tires, no pitting and keep pace up!
You can win with 50 seconds in the lead :D

👍

Tried with one Bob in a Minolta, started on SS, pitted on lap 5 and put on inters, and he went great. Until lap 10 when the tyres were gone and he went pirouetting off the end of the Mulsanne at a billion miles per hour. Ended up finishing 7th. Gonna try again with two Bobs and SM tyres on the rear.

WHY IN THE BLUE 🤬 DOES THE STUPID ******* IDIOT INSIST ON PITTING WHEN THE TYRES ARE GOOD? I HATE THIS STUPID CRAP, HE DRIVES LIKE A RETARD, HAS NO THROTTLE CONTROL WHATSOEVER AND SPINS EVERY STINKING LAP.

At least I know what the "B" in B-spec stands for, 🤬!!!

Easy win for La Sarthe:

My car: R8 Race Car (Playstation Team ORECA) `05
I tuned it completely and then limited to 700PP
My Bobs: Lv. 36 and 35

Start with Hard Race tyres.
Pit after 2nd lap to continue lap 3 with Intermediates.
Pit stop after lap 8. Catch fresh Intermediates for the last two laps.

Coaching: Keep your Bob 75-80% hot

P1 in lap 4. Lost P1 after 2nd pit stop (most AI stop after lap 9). P1 after lap 9. Finished 1st without any problems.

Enjoy the credits... :)👍

Pretty much how my first attempt went (including the car choice), except I made the mistake of going onto race hard on lap 8 and the Bob who went in was a d***head and I went from first to fourth... :ouch:

1st On my first try :) with the Audi R8 01, high turbo max downforce 230mph max speed purchased with the prize money from Spa.

Started on racing hard tyres with lvl 34 Bob pitted end of lap 2 for inters then kept it going til lap 9 (forgot to pit lap 8)by then Bob was broken & needed a break swapped drivers, tyres & added 10l fuel & won by 20 secs :D

The trick is the poking & when to do it tried to keep Bobs cool through the twisty bits & abuse the hell out of them on the straights.

Don't have a chaparral 2J don't think ones shown up for 3 months.

I also think the PD were concentrating too hard on the GT/LM cars for this one & forgot about the 2j

heres what i think of it....

Just dont get this race at all...I watch alot of F1 and its a known fact that slick tyres in wet conditions is a recipe for disaster , which is why I dont understand the AI putting on racing slicks on the 2nd pit stop but if i put Intermediates on i'm slower with 40% moisture on the ground!
