So I've been pretty busy in real life guys, I'm really sorry for not being around to help clarify things/add input. I'm glad to see some of you have stepped up to keep things going in my absence. It's nice to see you guys still keeping the touge scene alive!
I'm just going to go over a couple of things I've been thinking about in terms of possible changes to LoTS. First things first, I won't be setting up an official season until/unless we actually get the course creator. Sierra and Nurb are a lot of fun, but they don't have that touge spirit the courses you guys created in GT5 had.
Another thing I've been thinking about is breaking up the classes into classic and modern cars. I feel the PP system in GT6 is good, but it seems as if older cars are still at a disadvantage even when running them in the same PP range as a modern car. On top of this, I think it would also be a good idea to have a preset list of cars to help balance things further. I know a lot of you don't like that idea, but it seems most of you run similar cars anyways. As seasons go on and we test other cars out during fun runs, we will be able to add more cars to the list. This sort of reworking of the LoTS class system will require effort, input from you guys, and a lot of testing to determine a suitable balance for all the cars. Now as to what the max PP for both classes would be is still up in the air. Its not as easy as just picking a number because we still have to determine which cars would be in each class. To accomplish this, I think it would be a neat idea to set up community votes to see what cars you guys would like to see in each class.
Now, if we do decide as a community to adopt this new class system, there will not be any restrictions in terms of tuning. So those of you who enjoy meticulously tuning your transmission would finally be able to. However, the classic class would be running either CS or CM, and the modern class would be running either CS or SH. The tire choice really comes down what you guys as a community would rather run. Personally speaking, I'd like to see more of you guys getting sideways through some corners and I think SH makes that rather difficult sometimes. SH tires have a tendency to snap you back in the other direction if you aren't flooring it through the corner in a slide. Comfort tires may have less lateral grip, but you'll have much more control of your car if you happen to initiate a slide by accident or on purpose.
With these new class changes and tuning changes I'd like to present another idea/concept to you all. First of all, I'm going to say you guys need to chill out a little bit (just a little). Touge isn't about winning, and isn't about losing. It's not about the best tune, it's not about driving stock. Touge to me is about fun, improving as a driver, and sharing ideas and moments with your peers. So I'll digress a little bit about what I said in the previous paragraph, about wanting to see you guys get a bit "sideways through some corners". Instead of crowning someone the "Legend of The Streets" based on points and wins, why not let the community decide. I'm not suggesting getting rid of the points system or not keeping track of wins or losses, but instead leave it up to a vote at the end of the season. The points cup will still be there, so the fastest person will win that, but does being the fastest make you a legend? Maybe to some it does, but maybe watching someone drift pass an RX-7 in a panda AE86 like a boss makes them the legend. This should be about having the most fun possible and basing everything around winning every race makes it hard to have fun all the time.
So those are some of the ideas I've been kicking around in my head these few weeks. I'd love to hear your opinions on this, so please comment and add input. In regards to some of the recent things I've seen around the thread. there's no issues with you guys posting lobby IPs in the thread here, but please try to keep on topic. If you're going to be hosting a series of tournaments with different regulations from what we already have, you should probably just make a new thread. If you make a new thread, then don't post in here about it. Use PSN or in game chat to advertise it. It's not cool to jump on someone else's thread to advertise yours.
I'll hopefully see some of you guys tonight if you're on!
