It's nice to see that the crime rate in Australia is so low that they resort to nitpicking car modifications. Honestly, in the US the only thing we get in a tizzy about it importing cars newer than 25 years old and that's because Homeland Security ran out of terrorist to catch and need something to do with all those sweet, sweet tax dollars.

You weren't in Brisbane's Sunnybank area yesterday???? I saw a chaser with the same wheels etc

I know thats a big drive lol but I'm sure it had the same wheels.

Where abouts are you from in Brisbane dude? Do you go to downshift meets or anything?

 All this talk about car meets, it's making me think of the four weeks in a row I've forgotten about, and ran out of time for, the Subaru meets I was considering going to. :guilty: :nervous: :ouch:

They're huuuge meets mate, used to photograph them when I was in brisbane. Funnily enough nissanfanatic, I AM in Brisbane but no I do not have le' chaser.

Also guys, the car ran 208rwkw on a dyno on Saturday. It hadd a really bad curve but it is untuned so that can be fixed.

That dyno reads lower than most they were telling me so my other graph saying 220 is fairly accurate too. I'll post a video soon.

Are you on Facebook? Like a page called Downshift and they post up the events, they have some pretty good ones. Might see you there.

I was hoping to go to one of them when I was in Brisbane last but missed it by a day.

And this is how le chaser sits today, after passing the test .

HID's removed, boost gauge removed, boost controller removed, turbo timer removed, Amuse traction control override removed, wheels and suspension made stock with good tread, exhaust made stock, all ball joints replaced. Those are the main things, it's a big process.

The great thing is that it passed first go. The guy who has been working on it goes overseas on Saturday for a month and if he can't get it back together and properly legal by then I might be driving around stock for a while .

Why couldn't you keep the rims?

Oh I still have all the other parts, they just needed to be taken off to pass the test and class the car as legal again. The other wheels were too much larger than the stock diameter I believe, so they wouldn't have passed.

It'll go back together, just with the coilovers set higher and with slightly less camber (if that isn't removed with height), no turbo timer or boost gauge and with the boost controller hidden from sight.

Awesome 👍 sounds good!

Honestly once it has those rims back on it wont look too tall, it only looks a bit bland right now since the diameter is so much smaller - not sure if you can get away with the front kit again but that would definitely help draw attention away from the ride height.

You've upgraded, now it looks like an Avalon! :sly:

But seriously, glad to see that silly little yellow sticker off of it.
Shhhhh ;).

Korza
I kinda prefer it without the aftermarket front lip.
Yeah I didn't like that particular lip but I would like a nice little one.

I'm pretty damn sure it doesn't matter how much larger than stock your rims are, so long as the wheel diameter is within factory parameters. Is a boost guage and traction control over-ride really illegal? BTW, I'm with Korza you should leave the bumper as is until you can find one you like more rather than put that other one back on.

Fairly sure it's an ADR (or an SA law at least) that wheels can be no more than 2" larger diameter over the largest stock wheels the car comes with or has the option of.

In this case the largest Legendary can go (legally) is 18s.

Why no turbo timer? it makes no sense to me...

mine has a switch on the e-brake, if its not on the e-brake (so when you are driving) it simply wont work. unless you get an accident with the E-brake on (wich means you are either drifting or standing completely still) the fuelpump wont do a thing after an accident or when the key is taken out...

if the engine needs to be stopped (lets say the oilpump stopped working or something) just press the power button on the turbo timer or put the E-brake off and it will stop directly.

Nice Chaser Btw, i love em :)

The other one is completely ruined so it's never going back on .

This is correct I think, it was best to have the stock wheels on just to be safe, incase wheel track and stuff changed.

They don't want the engine to be functioning normally in any other key position than '.on'

Yeah it is, but just putting it out there that's the reason why the aftermarket wheels wouldn't have passed.

Those look like 19s.
They're 18's, the car was just absolutely sacked so they looked bigger :P.

It must be different in QLD, when I was shopping wheels for my VR Ute when I had it the tyre shops were telling me that 2" larger thing wasn't true, it's all about rolling diameter. (I went from 15's to 18's).

I just checked it properly and down here it says that the overall wheel and tyre diameter cannot exceed more than 15mm of the largest tyre size stated on the placard in your door. I do know of people with ve omegas swapping the placard with say the calais model to get away with 20" wheels.
