Thanks a lot guys, it's awesome owning an import of which there may only be 100 or so in the entire continent.

It's turning heads every day, I've seen 2 other chasers while being with this and have gotten the thumbs up of approval, always a nice feeling! Driving it you can see the looks of confusion on people's face who just have no idea what it is.

I saw a sticker on a stagea yesterday saying 'my groceries are quicker than yours', it pretty much applies in this case too .

What's the situation for Lancer Evo's in Australia? Common? Uncommon?

1-6 of only seen a handful. But 7-10 there are lots. Couldn't say I'd they are rusty or not sorry, not a Mitsubishi fan. My neighbor had an evo 8 until I took him for a ride in my GTR, he promptly sold it and got a GTR lol.

No worries. I'm thinking long-term. As much as I enjoy karting, I'd like to take up rallying. So, I'm considering an Evo VI, because by the time they're legal for import to Canada, (15 years after manufacture,) they'll be relatively inexpensive. GT-Rs aren't great for rally, (that I've seen,) and definitely cost way more than $25,000+.

Over here one would not consider and evo over wrx for rally purely because of the pricetag. Evos are ridiculously expensive and I'm assuming it's because there are less of them, but they're not all that superior.

Active Yaw Control... :D I enjoy it.

Anyways, you already know, twice over, what I think of powerful Toyotas, I believe. 👍 You made a nice choice for a street car, the best-looking of any of the local cars. 👍

What did I say guys, Australia doesn't like modified cars, especially imports and especially lowered imports! :P
I got hit this morning with the defect notice. The notice itself is for visibly being low (he asked if I needed him to prove it but whatever, I know it is) but once it get's checked ANYTHING illegal or unroadworthy will be picked on.

So basically I have one week to drive the car before it comes off the road if it hasn't been repaired and checked. The boost controller needs to be removed, turbo timer removed (and stay removed), boost gauge possibly removed, stock wheels need to be found and fitted with good tyres, stock suspension needs to be found and fitted.

I spoke to the previous owner and the guy that complied my car actually fitted stock suspension and wheels for it to pass, it turns out he still has these parts (works for an import business) and for a fee he will swap it all out, take it to get checked and put the other stuff back on. When he puts the other stuff back on i'll hide the boost controller properly and make the coilovers noticeably higher. As much as it sucks I can't afford to keep spending 1k+ each time it gets defected.

Joy.

Can't say you weren't warned... that's too bad regardless.

I knew about this, none of you warned me though . It was only a matter of time but now I can take these opportunity to legalise everything.

Wait, really? I could have sworn quite a few people told you.. oh gods I'm so sorry - I came into your thread quite a few times between you thinking of buying the Chaser and now and debated piping up but I decided to stay out of it since it's none of my business.

That's crazy.

They were planning a similar thing in the UK some time last year, but I think it was dismissed after there was a big uproar about it. The proposed law was draconian enough that safety upgrades would have to be removed from classic cars to restore them to stock. Disc brake conversions? Seatbelts? Not stock equipment, so they'd have to go. Was aimed at modifications but it would have been applied with the usual blunderbuss approach.

I almost hope US would have similar law.. Not quite as extreme, but severe enough to remove the ridiculous "stanced" imports from the roads. Every time I see one, I can't help but wince in pain.. My inner mechanic just keeps screaming to me that "his suspension is broken and the tyres are too small for those rims!".. :(

You're talking to me like I'm stupid. Remind me again how many people told me to keep the car at this height after I CLEARLY stated that the current height was illegal? I knew it the whole time, it was only a matter of time.
Mr_X
They keep the fuel pump running after an accident or something like that is what i've been told
Good to know, I wasn't sure of the reason.

I can't exactly say I didn't see this coming to be honest.

But thems the brakes with Australian cops and modified vehicles.

I'm from Queensland, I definitely saw this coming with how strict they are there.

Dude, WAT.

Your laws do suck, wtf

Nah, I said that I agreed with him that visibly it is too low. Asking him to pointlessly measure it in the rain would piss him off and make him pin me for more.

None of it matters. At the end of the day. You OWN a CHASER :P

but I would of never thought it was super strict over there since MightyCarMods =|and stuff.

Yeah but most of the imports MCM have done the car has been close to stock.

Plus this Chaser I assume would've only been used at a track before it got imported.
