Ah, I see it now!

This buggy was a fun little build, works great. I'd recommend setting it on it's rear with the front wheels up in the air when it calibrates. It had trouble calibrating when the wheels touched the floor.

Ended up taking a trip to the Lego store to get some small gifts for family but ended up grabbing the 1/8 Bugatti Chiron. I did not plan on getting this one, but it was right in front of me.

I also have the Porsche GT3 and Lamborghini Sian, but sadly disassembled them just last week to make room so I won't have them all built together for some time.

Built this near the beginning of lockdown.

I found that this Batmobile has to be displayed on the turning stand thingy, because it's too heavy for the tires and they develop huge flat spots if you set it on the tires for an extended period of time.

Self Isolation blues got the better of my wallet and I Amazon'd this:

After seeing the initial press shots I was on the fence about buying it, but I'm glad I did.

Flared wheel arches aside, it's actually a great model in the flesh. Naturally the quattro's angular shape lends itself well to Lego and compared to the GT-R that I desperately wanted to love, this requires almost no squinting at all to see what car it's supposed to be.

Save for a couple of vents at the rear, this has got to be the first Speed Champions build where the stickers are soley used for the livery, you could easily leave them in the box and the end result wouldn't suffer all that much.

(For the record I hate stickers in general but the ones that come with modern Lego sets are by far some of the worst!)

The result is a very solid feeling model with an almost 80/90's Lego System feel to the finished result (perhaps again due to the angular design and colour palette).

The build lacks any real surprises (unless you count the twin chassis?) and compared to the GT-R and the Senna which were genuinely eye opening at times, wondering which way the build was going to take you, this is much more conventional.

I ended up making two slight modifications to the finished model. The first was to rotate the half studded black tiles at the top of the C pillars so that the roof panel is secured rather than left loose. I recommend this as the fitment of the driver is so snug that his arm pushes against the windscreen causing the roof to not sit flat at times.

The second mod required raiding my spare parts bin (including two tiles from my Creator F40) and was to replace the bright red tail lights with dark tinted grey ones which is one of my favourite features of the real quattro rally cars:

I did also play about with jacking the ride height up a brick for a more off road appearance, however, it didn't quite have the effect I was looking for and looked more 'monster truck' than 'Rally Sweden'.

I did something similar to the roof to secure it as well. I also put another mini figure in mine so it has a co-driver. One of my minifigs from another SC set has a terrified face which I thought was funny.

Oh, and thank you to the mod who consolidated my posts. I'd do it myself, but it's hard on a phone.

Really enjoy looking at all the creations here ,so looked up the price of the model above as I'm wanting to dive in and have a go, 340 euro's ,my first real car only cost 400 quid its insane, still tempted to do it anyway:mischievous:

Well...curses, looks like I'm spending more money. Looks even better in official photos.

Looks pretty good! I am definitely getting one!

In other news, I think I got my dad hooked on Lego. He sent me a picture last night, he got the Land Rover Defender (on a really good sale from Walmart for USD $160, down from $200). He offered to sell it to me after he builds it, so that's cool.

I find the Mustang cool, but it doesn't really do it for me. So the Porsche is much more up my alley in terms of desire. The hotrod extras didn't interest me as much as the Porsche's ability to go to a targa top.

The Defender is very much worth the price with how well it's detailed. Out of curiosity, did your dad get the Defender kit from Walmart's website or in store? Would be cool if it was actually in the stores.

Agree about the Mustang, I am on the fence about that one still.

He got the Defender from the website, but I have been meaning to check out the physical store to see what's there. The Defender is crazy good value if you ask me, especially at $160. It only has about 100 less pieces than the large orange Porsche GT3 RS and is nearly half the price (before the GT3 was retired, that is).

Edit: The Lego Designer video is a pretty good watch. You can spot some other colors of the 911 in the background at the 2:05 minute mark. Shame, kinda, I like colorful Lego.

More edit: Porsche also released a video for the set!

Now that is nice 👍

The Defender is also great, I'm seriously tempted. @SPhilli911 How much does your Dad want for it?
I'm going to pay him what he paid for it so he can break even, so $160 USD even if it's built and he puts the stickers on crooked.

Sadly, it looks like the sale is no longer available for the set. I should have grabbed one myself to pass on to someone looking for one cheap.

I saw the price on Land Rover's official website had it listed for $160 as well some time ago, not sure if it's still there or available. But that may be another possible place to purchase it for that price. I feel stupid for buying it at $200 at launch.

Edit: Just checked and it's back to $200.

That Porsche 911 is a must have, for me. It looks fantastic!
I'd also kind of like to think, Mike Psiaki (the designer of the set), took a little inspiration of using the macaroni pieces (3x3 curves) as mudguards, from my contest winning Lotus Esprit, (he was one of the judges).
That new curved piece at the back is awesome too!

Finally got around to building one of my contest entries in real brick. It was unsuccessful but i still enjoyed designing it.
It's a car to fit in with the modular buildings sets they do. The version with the small wheels is similar to the one i entered, and the version beside it is a later version with bigger wheels. The car raises it's ride height by twisting the the spare wheel cover at the back 90 degrees.

That Porsche looks good! Must buy for me. Unfortunately it seems like it's a larger scale than the F40. It seems to be the same scale as the Mustang though.

Bit of a shame of the 911 is bigger than the F40 but oh well. Still think the F40 is the best creator car yet from Lego. Amazing what they pulled off with that one.

Think the Ecto-1 initially was around the same price. But sadly it's been scalped to hell online. Last time I checked it was around the $400AUD mark on eBay and Amazon.

The Ecto-1 is back in stock on the Lego shop for $299AUD and free shipping. Think I'm going to pass though. Really want the Porsche next month, just don't have that kind of cash to throw around on both and space is starting to become a bit of an issue now.

The Ecto-1 is a really impressive set and surprisingly large too. Probably worth the money but if you could only have one set maybe the cheaper, but just as impressive 911 is the way to go.

Speaking of, the 911 is slightly larger than the Mustang (as someone mentioned here in an earlier post), this video also shows it next to the 1/8 GT3 RS and the smaller Technic RSR. It's big! Still sad the F40 is smaller, but oh well.

Spending my time off building a set (or possibly will do more sets). Didn't realize how "quick" I was able to finish the Fiat 500 set in about 6 hours or less on one night. Rather enjoyed it! Love the paint easel and folding soft top.

I really like this one, but not sure I'll grab it or not yet. I feel bad I missed out on the Mini that would go well will it.

I spy the VW camper van in the background. I recently built that too and I love it.
