I've been thinking 2 nights of lemons isn't necessary. Perhaps wednesday would be good for an amateur TC night or that gt300/gt500 idea I've been thinking about. I just don't have the time to review all the races and check parts on cars.

I pit...still not sure why. I thought geezer had an FF and would run out of grip and I wanted to make sure I was the first to pit. When the accident happened, I didnt know why or who was involved since I started last and past nearly everyone. I didnt know Geezer had already pitted. 2nd is okay with me though

Sorry Huyler, you don't qualify for Crappy Driver's Touring Car Championship, or the CDTCC. Actually, you're overqualified. ;)

Just force me to ride on tires one step down...that should equalize things :sly:

In my GT500 race, we found most tracks to be 1-2 seconds slower on RH instead of RM. You can't keep up with good drivers on the RHs but you can usually stay in the draft of intermediate/novice drivers.

Although with the spec 2.0 drafting, that may no longer be the case.

Deal.

Seriously though, we should talk more about a two class touring car series, but I would like to see how the new touring cars are rated, PP-wise. I need to make made a list of some touring cars...

There's a quick list. So, there's a few to choose from. Enough to make two classes?

How are they broken out in the real world? Are there any sites (BTCC or Wikipedia) that give class information? For example, are all of those AWDs allow to race with the others?

Well, if we do two classes, we could run an open class (4wd, 6-cyl+) and a FF 4-cyl class. I think that would be manageable. I have a lot of these cars; I'll check weight and horsepower on them when I get home.

Check the list above. Suggest any additions, please.

The sad thing is, the race winner was one of the drivers involved in that bad wreck on the first lap. Geezer went from basically last to first.

How is that a sad thing? I told him to quit his whining and get back to the front and he did...he ran a great race.

I imagine

Honda INTEGRA TYPE R Touring Car 321 HP - 1050 kg FF
Mazda Atenza Touring Car 311 HP - 1070 kg 4WD
Mazda Mazda6 Touring Car 320 HP - 1070 kg 4WD

Are probably all fair and balanced, even though they are slightly different in HP and weight. I'm curious as to what he PP is.

Sad is in, he was so ridiculously fast compared to the rest of the field.

Also sad as in at the end of the season, I don't fell that the field is any closer. I kind of wonder if the last race of the season should be on the same track as the first race, just to see the difference over the season.

Um.. I was closing on geezer at the end, but touched the grass and took myself out on the final lap.. Diabolic wasn't much further behind, I think cujo and dabney would have been in it had it not been for accidents and tires... Sarthe is so long it takes a significant effort to get back up front (or a stupid fast car), so I don't think there was anything wrong with the cars...

The big factor remains weight/pit strategy.. If geezer had pit (which I don't think he did), I would have won probably, because I wouldn't have been driving on the edge that last lap, and prolly would have had a clean fiinish.

If we don't implement mandatory pit, I'll be driving a MR next series. :P

Not to mention jedi who was in a stupid fast car... I have no idea where he was tho, because I couldn't see him.

It's not so much MR's, they do wear tires out, but can go about 10 laps longer in tires. FR's in most cases can 10 more than that, which is usually the whole race.

The MR cars come with their own issues. They wear the rear tires faster so there is a transition to oversteer. If you can keep the car at the limit and keep it from oversteering you can make it the whole race...but it's not easy and you can't be overzealous at the beginning.

I pit to put myself in a race with someone not because I had to. I think Geezer would have caught me with a lap or two to go, but I would have been able to draft. I thought he was in an FF monster so I pit assuming his tires were going. (Again, not knowing he was in the accident and had pit already)

Starting out last and missing the wreck was good, but I also passed everyone so quickly that I could not see the severity of the damage or who was involved.

DT depends on course list. This year was ripe for FF wins. Especially ending with 3 speed tracks...that was a mistake with hindsight.

Last night we did some 325 and 345 testing. 325, even on CM tires is awefully slow. The only way I see that low PP working is if we ran all short tracks (autumn mini, cape inside, grand valley east, suzuka east, madrid mini, etc) At 345, things get better. The cars slide a little more and there is a little more finesse involved so you can catch up if you break out of the draft.

What times were you running at gvr at 325pp?

I dunno, 1:36-1:38 maybe? 1:40? It was slow. And there was quite a disparity between 325 cars. My Honda S800 crawled off the line. I kepted up in the draft for 4 laps but some of the other cars were running circles around me, but I'd catch them on every mistake or when they battled for position at turn 2.

At 325, FF cars are not at any disadvantage...in fact they may have a slight advantage because their tires actually warm up. At 345, there is some understeer that needs to be addressed.

My 4WD PP hoarding jalopy box could barely crack 1'40. Not an option. I'm moving my responses to all thing Lemons to the Season 4 thread. Just wanted to keep my fans in the know!

So, is anyone actually interested in a crappy driver touring car series? Two classes? I'm willing to organize and host. Let me know if you're interested and I'll start a new thread.

It appears my wednesday night is opening up, so sure. It'd be great if it started a little earlier in the evening as well, but thats not all that important. Quick question...what is the crappy driver touring series>??

1.36?? I was at mid 1.20's in multiple cars.
