Not very thrilling, I WANT MT GT2 TRACKS!!!!! I just want to race Seattle Circuit for god sakes.

Oh well, at least Forza has some more tracks to keep me occupied.

Spa is a good addition...but its a little late. I've raced it in NFS. It has some fun sections and it will be interesting to see how GT physics play out on that high speed turn 2-3-4. I hope they don't add the carnival to the infield. Is it worth $4.99 to race that one track though? I'm not sure. I have no interest in paying money for additional cars. I just wish at $4.99 they included something else like a test track, another nascar oval, maybe an autocross track, or another 1 mile road course. No one races karts...so that was a big fail on their part...unless the kart track ends up being fun with our 450 cars!

Sorry for the dp, but the kart track looks hilarious, but how could we race it unless everybody had it, it'd have to be offline only.......

I don't know how the tracks are going to work online. Perhaps it will be like the generated tracks...meaning the host is the only one who needs it for everyone to race it.

I'm confident that you will need to have downloaded the track to play it. For the generated tracks your game already has all the assets required to render the track, even if the turns are different. This would not be the case with Spa. I think that without the track's textures and images, you would not be able to load it, even if the host has it.

DLC looks like a major letdown. I'll be hopping for the paints and MAYBE the track...but thats unlikely for now. In Motorstorm, if the room host picked a DLC track, the drivers in the room w/o track were booted automatically

The only let down is the price. Spa should cost $1.99 and each additional track after that should be a separate purchase for $1.99 (assuming they will be adding more). Making me pay $4.99 for two tracks, one of which I will probably never drive is annoying. As far as it being a let down...I really don't care. At least I don't have to dish out money for cars and racing suits that I don't need.

I will probably buy the track, and I may even buy the paints. I have to admit, I love touring cars, but... I want new cars, cars we don't have, not just touring versions of cars we already have. After all, I don't think anyone is going to let me race in a touring car league, so... when would I use them?

Yes, this round of DLC is very lame. But, this is PD. This isn't a surprise.

p.s. I've played around with the tire load indicators. they are in the middle of the screen. WTF? And the front wheels are in the sky, so... on a cloudy day, they can't be read.

I guess being in the middle of the screen helps, but... why not combine it with the tire wear indicator, add in the old GT2 front-tire turn indicator, and let us adjust things like spacing, placement, and opacity.

Seriously, does anyone at PD ever sit in a room with a whiteboard and just discuss any of these ideas?

I think if we wait a little while, the price will drop and/or they'll package it up with other tracks at a lower price. It's only $5.00 but I just don't see the value...unless Spa ends up being my favorite track in the game.

Let's start the crappy driver touring car league!

The touring cars are only like 475-500pp I thought. Not far off from where some drivers end up at the end of the Lemons season.

Woot.

Though, here is a serious question:

The GT300/500 cars should be similar stock, even though they are at slightly different PP levels (the Epson NSX '08 only has 580 PP while the '08 SC430 has 589, and I'd still bet on the NSX). What about the touring cars? Are they built to be competitive? With the new room restrictions, can we limit them so people can't add parts?

I'm sure they're not. We'll see if the changes help improve competition in this case though.

I've started a new thread for Season 4. I'll be polishing up the rules document this week and find a way to start a poll.

Tonight is the last race. Next week will be a testing session. Bring four cars, one at 325PP, one at 345, one at 365, and one at 390.

I'll be bringing three cars. The car I have at one of the PP levels should be competitve with draft in another. Glad I've been buying up crap in the UCD for awhile. 👍

I imagine there are a couple cars that will be able to cross over at different PP levels.

Same year restraints?

Yes. And same restraints on pre-season parts. You can purchase power upgrades and weight reduction but nothing else.

Since this is a single night of testing, though, I don't see a need in limiting new cars to 5 PP under, but keep in mind, to actually start the season with that car, it will have to fit 5 PP under.

Dunno, I had some things come up, that were important so I could show. I have a feeling that Diabolic won the series though, as long as he showed. Congratulations.

It was an interesting race. We had 2 packs running early in the race, but the lead pack (jedi, cujo, geezer) had a crash and the packs fell apart. I think Diabolic went to the lead at that point and held the lead until he pitted. He thought that he had enough lead to stay ahead of Geezer out of the pits, but he fell to second and Geezer won. Cujo could have caught me and held on to third place in the standings all by himself, but he had a few offs and couldn't get past Jedi at the end of the race and finished two positions lower than me, which puts us in a tie for third in the final standings.

Thursday nights?

Are you volunteering to organize it? I don't know if I could commit to two evenings week, though.

How did things go last night?

Didn't have time to test out all the new weather options. We did 12 laps, which may not have been enough. We started the race at 16:00 with the time step at 24.

I set the initial weather to sunny and dry (so 0% on both of those sliders) and set the variability modifier to 3. It did drizzle during qualifying, but cleared up and didn't rain during the race.

The sad thing is, the race winner was one of the drivers involved in that bad wreck on the first lap. Geezer went from basically last to first.

I actually had fun racing last night for a little while. I was in a pack with Leadbedr and Dabney. I tried to stay in the back of that pack, because I was too nervous to be in the middle. I did occasionally slip to the front, but they would draft back past me. My goal was to just stay in the draft.

Dabney's Talon was faster than me, but it didn't accelerate faster (or was slower through the corners, I don't know). We come out of that tight right-hander at the end of the third straight door-to-door. I move ahead of him, in part because I happen to be behind leadbedr. I think Dabney slipped in behind me, I don't know. I was focused on not stuffing Leadbedr and trying to stay off my brakes.

I think I may have been faster than Leadbedr without the draft, but with it, I was all over him. And I hate passing on the fourth straight. It is narrow, bumpy, and has slight bends.

We come up to Indianapolis (?) and my right rear tire catches the grass and I am spat across the track and onto the beach and into the wall. That was pretty much the end of my race.

I don't know if I clipped Dabney when that happened. He may have been beside me on the outside of the turn, but he fell back.

The weird thing to me is... that was lap four. Over the next eight laps, running by myself, I put in my fastest lap. Dabney went on to fourth. He must've been going very slow in the group with Leadbedr and me. He might've been trying to get past us the whole time. I was just trying to keep up.

And my fastest lap time: 4:41.9. I was 13 or so seconds off the fastest (that I know of).

To me, the season just ended weird. I had 14,000 Cr. left over. I didn't have anything that I could purchase since Suzuka. I had put in over 78,000 Cr. into my car, and it was the slowest one out there. Yes, I know that is all me, but... that is kind of what I want from the money, is to tighten the field up. But, with so many different drivers and so many different cars, it makes it hard to do, I'm sure. I have no idea how fast my car could be in some one else's hands.

I've updated the spreadsheet, but there are still some points to settle on two earlier races. Maybe I'll get around to completely reviewing that stuff this weekend. They shouldn't affect the leaders in points, but there may be some minor shifting in the middle of the pack.

Garris, you didn't hit me, you hit the grass, got all twitchy and I tried to avoid it, but I hit the grass too and effed everything up. I was only running slower than you and leadbedr because I started on intermediate rain tires. Once I got race softs after my pit I was much, much faster.
