So as far as rewards go, I did some quick leg work.

The Silvia and Integra are the two RM-able cars available under 30k. If I bumped the budget up to 35,000k or 37,500k a few more would be included. I wasn't intending for RM to be part of the series but it might work.

Lets take the Silvia as an example...

RM: 125,500

Items included in RM if purchases separately...
Wing: 1000
Full Weight Reduction: 43,000
Clutch: 2,500
Flywheel: 1,500
Suspension: 15,000
Transmission: 20,000
Drive Shaft: 4,500
Race Exhaust: 10,000
Total: 97,000

*However I believe the RM gives you slightly more HP and a lower weight...and you get front areo which I don't think you can get w/o the RM. I would have to build up both cars to judge whether the RM is worth the extra cost. But regardless, you'd have to save your winnings from 3 races to perform the RM...at which point the season is half over. But if you can dominate at the end of the season it might be a viable strategy.

BTW, purchasing all parts separately yields the following budget for the Silvia...
Wing: 1000
Full Weight Reduction: 43,000
Clutch: 2,500
Flywheel: 1,500
Suspension: 15,000
Transmission: 20,000
Drive Shaft: 4,500
Race Exhaust: 10,000
LSD: 7,500
Turbo: 20,000
Exhaust Manifold: 3,500
Sport Cat: 500
Intake Manifold: 2500
Racing Filter: 450
Engine Tuning: 47,500
ECU: 1,000
Total: 179,450

Depending on finishing place, you should average about 40,000cr per race so you'd be able to spend 200,000 credits. Hmm, perhaps I should lower the winnings a little bit so the average driver will not max out.

I believe RM gives you wider tires which is the big advantage it gives over non RM.

Ahh yes. Well I'm thinking we should play it out. If drivers want to buy an Integra or Silvia and hold their winnings to save up for the RM, we can see if that strategy pays off. However I think I'm going to lower the reward money a little so that the average driver doesn't max out their car too soon.

I will keep an eye on this series. I love the idea, and I am interested if it can help balance drivers.

The problem is, I imagine the drivers that take part will be pretty closely matched anyway.

As far as running hot laps and putting down fast times in equal cars, I think most of the drivers who have expressed interest that I already know can run similar lap times...close enough to draft each other in any case. However racing in a pack, overtaking, and running consistent laps for an hour is another story. I intend for there to be lots of action. An early accident might leave you chasing down the leaders, or at least fighting for those few extra points. Plus pit strategy will play a role as well. If you can get by with only 1 pit stop for tires, you could stand a chance to gain track position on faster cars.

Why don't we just use the value of the cars from mygranturismo.
That way there's no confusion about the pricing of the car...
And will oil change/chassis/engine rebuild be included in the initial starting cash?

To be fair, and since there is no way to police it, you will be able to perform oil change, rebuild, and chassis repair to your car at the start of the season.

As for using mygt prices...I'm ok with that. I guess it puts everone on an even playing field.

Ok, so those interested...please vote on Tuesday vs Wednesday. it sounds like there may be enough to have the first race on Wednesday. Earliest I can start is 9:30PM EDT (GMT-4).

OK, well I have to be done by 10:00 EDT.
So if it starts at 9:30, you better count me out...

I would lean toward Wednesday, but both would work.

I'm up for this at the proposed time. Can't do Tuesday (running 24hrs LeMans A-Spec). When will the budget, winnings, etc be set? I want to know that I'm not breaking any rules :)

Also, I can only do the first couple of weeks unless the start time is moved forward to 8pm GMT (school :( )

Alright, lets plan for Wednesday, April 13th to be the pre-season warm up. I will update the first post with details.

I'll try and make it ...sounds like an interesting series!

I'd rather do Tuesday between 8 and 9pm EDT (GMT-4), personally.. SWMBO is out all evening.

Ugg, tuesday, wednesday, tuesday. I really don't care... lets vote. Everyone please respond with which day works. It has to be after 9:30EDT since I cannot get on before then.

I probably won't hang for the season. I'll be there for the preseason warm-up, on Tuesday or Wednesday. But I'll probably be 4+ seconds off the group's lap time. In that case, I'll just let you guys go. If, by some miracle, I can actually keep pace, then I'll stick it out.

I really do love this game, but... wow do I suck.

Now that I think about it, Wednesday would be better for me(just joined a Tues night vball group). Count me officially in(If its Wednesday, great, if not, I will come when I can). Can't tell you yet which car and color choices though. I haven't picked those out yet.

Just to make sure I understand before I go through my car options.. It can be from the UCD, OCD, or regular dealership. I just need to keep the purchase price under $30k. Whatever is left of the $30k, I can put into the "bank" for the season, or start upgrading immediately. Is this all correct?

It can be from UCD, OCD or Premium dealership, yes. And you can start upgrading immediately.

And in true LeMons style, my car is painted bright yellow! :)

my chosen car is... RX-7 Type RS (FD) '00 (28,766) Cr Copied from mygranturismo.net as i forget how much it was as i bought it months ago
