I run a program, which selects a random pic of the 2400 pictures from my Japan vacation in 2004 every 10 minutes and puts it as desktop background. That is very nice, since it brings back memories and it doesn't get boring .... :)

This is a picture taken in the Japanese Alps, Nagano prefecture I believe, either by me ( Cybershot P100 ) or by one of my friends ( Canon powershot ).

EDIT : This morning the program has chosen this picture as background :

Again from our trip to Japan of course, this is Osaka at night taken by my Cybershot P100 from the Umeda Sky Building.

The quality of these pics is a lot poorer than I see them as my background pics, probably because the orginal pics have oer 2 MB each, while this MS paint upload on imageshack is much smaller.

Right on; some small laptop.

I can almost hear Final Fantasy "journey" music in the background (NES or SNES)

Nice pic.

Thanks, yes it was beautiful. As you can see, the valleys are below the clouds and fog. We drove the the narrow touges with our Honda Accord and suddenly the sun was shining brightly. The scenery was absolutly stunning. This pic is taken over 2500 m above sea level. Ehm that should be 7500 feet (maybe ? ).
Japan really is full of contrasts. You wake up in Tokyo, Shinjuku skyscraper district and even on the highest building the city never ends on the horizon. A high tech metropole. But after maybe 70 km's northwest the situation looks different. add another 50 and you are right in the mountains - just forests, lakes, small villages, tempels, mountain roads. Well, it was a great trip...
concerning "yourney music".... I think we had the only rental car worldwide with a minidisc player in it. ... So our CD's from home were useless. Then try to find minidiscs with music on them... well as you might guess, the radio was our friend. Mostly japanese country/folk music, not really great but ok for the background. It supports the atmosphere, so it was ok. On the japanese alps however we had American boradcast. Why ? I don't know.
perhaps 10 min before this pic was taken, we listened to Bob Dylan... Pianoman. That was nice :)
