Question, is it possible to stretch desktop wallpaper over 2 monitors, without stretching the start bar? What I want, is to use a 2046X768 wallpaper, stretched over my monitor and TV, but not have the actual desktop stretched over there as well.

In a dual-monitor setup, the taskbar shouldn't be extended (right?). I think the only time the taskbar will look extended is if you mirror your desktop. (Again, I've never tried a dual-monitor setup so I'm no expert, but I think this is right)

Now my question: Did you ask this somewhere else before? I just want to make sure I'm not going crazy because I know I've seen this question before :nervous:

No, you are not going crazy, I have asked this before, but no answer, so I thought I would ask again in a more active relevant thread.

The Catalyst software I have can stretch the whole desktop over 2 monitors, which put simply, makes the 2 monitors act as 1 monitor, with a res in this case of 2048X768. However this stretches the taskbar as well, which is no good for me, as my TV is...over there *points* and i cannot see it well enough.

My latest. (thanks dougiemeats)

That's good. I thought this week's stress finally got to me. Or I gained new powers. That would've been cool.

Anyways, if it acts like one monitor, then my guess is that you cannot prevent the taskbar from extending to your TV. My only workaround would be placing the taskbar to the left of your screen (or right depending on where the TV is). But most people hate the taskbar on the side.

Thanks MdnIte, for the suggestion to use UltraMon, I am using the trial of that now, and it works a treat! Just have to split the large res wallpapers down the middle, and set them seperately! đź‘Ť Your a legend!

Works well!

-edit-

WOW! That really shows the difference between 1024x768 and 640x480!
