Lewis Hamilton Time Trial DLC Coming to GT Sport, With Exclusive Rewards

I'm gonna be a buyer. Few Euros are not gonna turn my world upside down and I'll have fun giving these challenges a go.

A bit confused with all the anger. This is perfect for paid DLC. Don't fancy it, or feel it's not good value? All good, don't buy, it will not have any ill effects on your experience with the game. You will continue to get cars and tracks for free.

Only thing I find weird is making higher credit cap a reward. Don't really care though, I spend my money anyway :D

Hamilton is for sure not doing this for free, that's the whole reason this is paid DLC. His name has prestige, and will definitely attract. This will be our only chance to give a multiple F1 world champion a run for his money :D

I dont know what think to be quite honest. I went to bed without this knowledge and now that I've read all about it I wish I didnt know.

I think many people are quite welcoming of DLC and further are willing to pay a lot lot more than $10 for it however there's the conundrum... how do we make DLC that's a hit that will not split up the player base like car or track DLC?

To me I hate time trials... I think its a very singular activity that isnt me. I dont like drift trials either.

I would rather they put out a huge GT League series + GT5 style B-Spec and I would probably pay $25 for that! Make it the 'single player" GT Sport addition.

I am ambivalent about Lewis Hamilton. I recognise he is the greatest race car driver on paper and off paper however that doesnt mean he makes a compelling figure in GT unlike say... Jeff Gordon (!!!)

I also think like $10 isnt much to me... and yet I dont feel like buying something that just doesnt suit my tastes.

This is a big fat zero. Its the classic "I'm not sure what was deliverable by PD but I'm sure its not this". This is like the GT Sport Spec II disc. Another zero.

btw. giving someone on minimum wage the credit lines to purchase a Ferrari doesnt make sense and neither does increasing the credit limit to $100 mil. if your opportunites to get there are the same.

Bootstraps y'all!

I hope it's as brutal as the Vettel Challenges back in GT5. That took me probably 12 hours total to beat back in the day, an almost broken G25 and I probably lost 2L from sweat alone trying to beat it  Nothing in GT6/GTS single player mode has offered any challenge to decent players. Yes there's online, but I miss the times when gold times in license tests actually strikes fear into my heart :scared:

All the extra rewards are just bonus for me. I've bought all cars so the credit limit is meaningless, and with livery editor I'm sure we will talented members of the community recreate the special edition cars' liveries. The satisfaction comes from being able to say I've beat one of the best drivers in the world (albeit it probably will took me 100x as many tries to beat him ). If anything, it will give you an insight to how superhuman these people are, to be able to set those times like it's nothing and minimal practice.

And as for the price, well, name me one other developer today that still supports a game with actual content updates 2 years after it's launched. Compared to what PD has given us for free the price is nothing really. Plus Lewis' time isn't cheap. There are far worse greedy developers out there who don't deserve your money. PD isn't one of them.
Vettel is already oldskool but maybe he's a classic. For the next generation though, it's now Hamilton. :D

Will I buy this? No
Do I really care? No
Why don’t I care? Because it’s not like Dirt Rally 2.0 or GRID where the community is split between those with some tracks and those which other tracks, it’s just some extra events (which, honestly, aren’t really that interesting), and considering that PD will still be giving us the monthly cars/tracks, I’m pretty happy to just ignore this one and stick with playing the base game

That and I despise Lewis Hamilton

PD have been amazing with GT Sport support, and they get INFINITE kudos for that.

I play GT Sport almost exclusively in VR, making a hotlapper peasants wage so I've never been close to the credit limit (gladly purchased 5 cars through PSN as result). Also lack of online VR time trials means I can't get anything out of this DLC.

I don't believe in giving a video game company money for DLC, just for the sake of support. Now if they somehow release a DLC that allows full Arcade mode to be playable in VR, I'd gladly pay $60 again just for that.

Looks like there will be a healthy dose of players who are excited about it, so good for PD 👍 Must be said, even if your in favor of this package - an awfully weird choice of paid DLC!

That is true. I just want to experience everything in GT. If I didn’t, I’d feel like I would be missing out on something that could be fun as hell. That would be worth it to me.

Its a glorified time trial nothing more.

Funny thing is the 100 million cap a feature which everybody has been begging for is locked under dlc.

I like time trials but I aint going to pay for one unless if this dlc comes with extra cars or a secret car, a car that had never been featured in Gran Turismo before there are some Mercedes Cars that still have not been featured which Im willing to grind for.

I wouldn't be so sure that hamilton IS getting paid for this...

he obviously got paid at the start of his contract - to be called the Maestro and to be put in the game.

to be quite frank, one little interview & track reference lap of nurburg gP is not enough.

I don't think polly got their money's worth there.

I've been thinking where the hell is he...

Waited for so long, I see the Gran Turismo logo on his cap every Formula 1 race so I've been longing for extra content, this wasn't quite what I was looking for, iwanted some more track demos and interviews for free... Like the one already in his section of the museum.

But alas.

Probably wait till there is a sale on PSN - dropped to half the price, which I will pay happily.

Ps: at the moment Spider-Man with all the DLC is £15.99 ,go fill your boots

Havr a great day

Pay for content already in the game? I would happily pay for new decent race cars, like DPI or GT1 etc, but never for this rubbish.

The best thing about this is the credit limit increase and that is a simple change in the code. They should tell us what the 'Special Cars' are at least. I assuming they will be somewhat tacky liveries.

You spoke my mind I will give you 100 likes if possible!!

Isn't it just awesome that you don't have to buy it, and you will still continue to get free updates with cars, tracks etc? And to top it off you can still play with those that buy the DLC!

As for the DLC, i hope one of the ways they raise the difficulty is through what aids are allowed.

If these time-trials are as challenging as the Vettel challenges in GT5? Hell yeah I'll buy that, it's been ages since I've had a decent challenge in Gran Turismo, nothing in GT6 or GTS, or heck, even in all of the Gran Turismo series made me go as hardcore as the X1 Challenge in GT5.

Surely hope they up their game with this.

Just as an experiment, I went out and attempted to beat the Brands Hatch time in Arcade mode (With the AMG not from my Garage).

Now granted I have no idea what tires those times for the time trail were set on (and these were done on racing softs) so that's abit iffy but considering the one for brands hatch is in the ballpark of actual pole from this year, seems like it's surprisingly not all that impossible to achieve. Makes this all the more questionable if you ask me. Gonna repeat this experiment on the others and try multiple compounds as well.

Since someone mentioned the online physics being different from arcade mode, decided to open a private room and attempt it. Same as before: 3 laps, Racing softs, default settings.

Once again, manage to beat the Gold Time on the first try (Barely this time) AND Lewis Hamilton's lap. Definitely abit more slippery to pull off, but not exactly Hardcore Tryhard difficult. Wouldn't exactly call myself World Tour Material and that didn't take many laps to do.

I could only manage 1'24s (Fastest being a 1'24.545). Both compounds are abit slippery to be fast with.

I'd bet the Lewis Challenges are on hard tyres. The time trials we have now are always on hards and is the default daily race tyre, so would be surprised if its anything else.

From the testing you've done that also sounds like the gold time would be a suitably hard challenge.

Did you have bop on or bop off?

I think most of us are PD fans or we wouldnt be here however you have to read the title of the DLC back to yourself and ask if it truly truly makes sense.

A "Time Trial DLC"... you beat times set on current tracks on current cars by Hamilton. That's it.

If you can still take that seriously then good for you. Turn10 wouldnt do something like this. They're expensive but generally you get what you pay for.

I hope you guys remember back to GT6 when they released a Senna update where you beat times set by the real master... for free.

I really want to be positive in the face of this but really I mean even if it was for free you'd probably get pushback on this given that again, the did something similar back in GT5 with Vettel... included in the main game.

I know $10 isnt much... that's not even half a lunch here however I cant in good conscience spent any money or time or anything further on this, given what we know now.

Its super super thin and nothing could convince me otherwise.

Hell, I would pay $10 if they just allowed us to make custom races with any groupings of cars.

$10 is worth it to me to play the the five Group C cars by themselves on the current tracks we have!

So decided to do the same with the other two circuits shown in the pictures from the OP:

Manage to surprisingly beat Hamilton's Lap times on the first lap in both sessions. From his laps (and based off what I see with Brands Hatch), I'm predicting the gold times for these two tracks to be:

Dragon Trail: 1:38.000
Autodromo Lago Maggiore: 1:56.000

Also just looked at the video and based off it as well as the screenshots, this is what the course and track combos look like so far:

Autódromo de Interlagos
Autodromo Lago Maggiore – GP (Mercedes AMG GT3)
Autodromo Nazionale Monza
Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit (Mercedes AMG GT3)
Dragon Trail – Seaside (Mercedes AMG GT3)
Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit
Nürburgring GP
Nürburgring Nordschleife (Sauber Mercedes C9)
Suzuka Circuit (Sauber Mercedes C9
Willow Springs International Raceway: Big Willow

To be fair though, I think the Racing Softs aren't too easy to drive either as while its no as bad with the Hards, still plenty of slip if you get too greedy.

Did you have bop on or bop off?

Seeing as its only Mercedes Vehicles (the other being the Sauber Mercedes C9), I did it with the BOP off. I could try it with that on, but I get the feeling the time Trial won't use it for the reason mentioned above.

That's it.

Voice overs, video production, custom livery, the 6 times world champion setting times on 10 circuits! Programing and implementation of a brand new mode..

That's it...

Maybe Hamilton did it for free and everyone involved in the production of the DLC did it for free, who knows.

It isn't just that though, it's also in game money rewards, an ingame fund cap increase and from the press release 'special reward cars and a special edition vehicle'.

Although I would like some more details on the last bit.

Over 2 years of free content and game updates. The game is still being supported after all this time and continues to do so. That is the reason that I don't mind paying for this DLC, even if it is an awkward one. It is not that PD is milking you non-stop with every release of a game like Codemasters does.

PD still has quite some free DLC in the pipeline so if you take all the past DLC, upcoming DLC and the Hamilton DLC. How much you would have actually payed per DLC item?

Any info in the release date btw? found, in 6 days 28/11/2019
