Lewis Hamilton Time Trial DLC Coming to GT Sport, With Exclusive Rewards

So upon feeling dumb after being pointed out that the screenshots show Racing Hards (GG, me), I also noticed something else: These Time Trials are under "Campaign Mode". Theoretically, that means they would use the Arcade mode physics unlike the Time Trials that is listed under "Sport Mode" while using a similar lap board system as the other Campaign modes (Driving School, Mission Challenge and Circuit Experience). Welp, time for more testing offline then.

Charging for maps and guns in an fps is no different than charging for tracks and cars. You get the same result either way, a split player base.

Tbh I'm a little shocked at how many people would prefer to have it this way, makes no sense.

I think it's more of a reflection on what games people play. If they never played the games that committed suicide with DLC packs they can't understand..

Hell I paid £24 for this game & about £60 for F1 2019 this game toe is way better.
If I am not wrong if the times are re done if anyone bets him...
£7 is not hard for me to spend & I not rich.

Who knows what the price is, I'm guessing it will be $15 to $30 for me.

This is probably true. I was the type of guy that bought all the dlc for my favorite fps and racing games over the years. I seen what happens more than once.

Voice overs, video production, custom livery, the 6 times world champion setting times on 10 circuits! Programing and implementation of a brand new mode..

If you like that kind of thing pay for it. I'm glad you guys are getting your $10 worth.

These things mean nothing to me because at the core, there's not much there.

You're listing things on the periphery and implementation. Everything requires work.

I'm sure there was a lot of work put into drift mode VR scapes helmets etc.

That stuff is all side dressing... I would trade all this crap just so I can define what cars run in custom races... because that's what's important to me... racing cars on tracks. Period.

I know that probably really makes me weird wanting to race the cars I want with the opponents I can choose but I suppose people really really want to time trial with Hamliton... for $10. LOL.

LOL?

If you read the thread you would know that most here would simply pay for any DLC just to support the game they have played for hundred of hours over the past 2 years, racing cars on tracks. Hell, i even bought cars with real money!!!

Put your money in the games you want to play and see them evolve.

I´m happy that we don´t need to annoy if it is payd or free content :gtpflag:

I´m really interested how this will work "Lewis will comment on your performance with voice messages"💡

I wouldn't waste your time, he seems determined to push the narritive that you aren't getting anything for the money then 'time trials with Hamilton'.

Its in the title champ. Its a time trial DLC with Hamilton. What narrative is there? Are you guys getting a cut of the $10? I did also put the disclaimer of "what we know now".

If we get more as what's listed that's fine but I'm not getting excited about "time trials" not even if PD were able to resurrect Senna. I'm glad you guys love it though, I really am...

I’ve been watching him race for over 10 years, he’s easily one of the greatest f1 drivers of all time. So chasing his ghost is a lot more appealing to me than racing a bunch of garbage ai in custom races.

"Chasing ghosts"... yep that's Gran Turismo in 2019!

I am reminded of the fact that Turn10 gets regularly lambasted for stuff like Lego and Hot Wheels and I can see why a lot of people think that's nonsense and yet I think there's magnitudes more 'work' 'implementation' involved over this and yet...

I'm also amused the massive polarisation Hamilton has here. I fundamentally do get why anyone would want to 'ghost' with Lando Norris but there seems to hate or love and that's it over Hamilton...

It isn't F2P game. Players bought this game for full price of AAA game ($60 - standard edition, some people paid even more for other editions) so I understand why some players don't like that this one DLC won't be for free.

Absolutely laughable. They let millions of normal players down by doing that plus seriously, the highest cr. I ever had was 3.8m so i don't need that rage inducing crap content!

Then you might want to read past the title.

''If you manage to beat all ten challenges, you’ll unlock the credit limit cap in the game. It’ll move up from 20m credits to 100m credits, allowing those who need to decide which of the hyper-expensive collectible cars to buy a little breathing room.

Players who score bronze or better will receive additional credits for each challenge they pass, and there’s special reward cars too. There’s also a special edition vehicle available, featuring a design from Hamilton’s own ‘Project 44’ team.''

Bit more reading for you champ.

Even if it was free there'd be a lot of people slagging it off... if it were free people would still be fairly unimpressed.

Witness the reception the Senna update got on GT6... wasnt as great as people were expecting.

So worth $10. Like how other companies give you extra save slots as DLC! So much coding and 'implemention'.

Still all fluff, in fact I've already commented on most of this. Not worth $10 but I'm glad you enjoy it.

Nah I had my fill... best $10 I've ever saved.

This argument gets even better the more you think about.

I want to chase Hamilton's ghost so I'm giving $10 to Polyphony Digital because Polyphony Digital cant get their 'garbage ai in custom races' to work.

Must be great for PD to get more money because PD cant get their act together as far as AI and custom races goes... PD chasing their own tail = more money.

I for one love the new update. How many games out there have such a dynamic variety of content? Plus interactions with one of the best F1 drivers? It doesn't matter if you love Hamilton or not. He's obviously not going to do something like this for free. So be happy polyphony isn't releasing cars or tracks that you need to pay to play. This is something different. It brings out your competitive side. Makes you put more effort to get involved rather than having customizable AI or whatever which will most likely not improve your driving skills. It's simple really. Git gud.
Clearly this update doesn't seem to be targeted towards casual players. For someone like me who's pretty confident in beating these time trials, I see the update as a fun challenge.

Isn't it just awesome that you don't have to buy it, and you will still continue to get free updates with cars, tracks etc? And to top it off you can still play with those that buy the DLC!

As for the DLC, i hope one of the ways they raise the difficulty is through what aids are allowed.
That is terrific and the support has been wonderful by PD. I know what you're getting at, and as I said, I have no problem with paying for proper DLC but this is not that.

Had PD brought premium DLC with multiple new to the series cars I would have bought it all. What they are offering here is dreadful.

They never said that...
They said there would be no micro transactions in GTS multiple times. You can make a case that the ones currently in game are not technically micro transactions because you can get the cars another way, but if the Project 44 car is locked behind that mtx, then yes, they broke their comment.

If the screenshot on the GT Sport website is accurate. Then gold for Dragons Trail - Seaside will be 1:38, with Silver 1:41 and Bronze 1:45.
That gold time is currently only achieved by the top 600 players, worldwide. I am a solid mid DR B player, and I have had a little go, and can get into the 1:39s fairly comfortably.

I am leaving so much time through the chicane of death it is silly, I don't seem to be able to get the car turned in and the power on early enough. I rarely use this car, as I don't seem to be able drive it very well! (Merc GT3'16, BOP with new Michelin RH, no traction control, abs default, brake balance I thing was 3 to the rear).

Therefore, it would appear as though this will be challenging, if not very challenging for the vast majority of those who play GT Sport. Those that regularly play GT Sport online in competitive lobby's, on in higher DR B and above splits will almost certainly find most of these time trial events fairly easy.

Or to put it another way - Tidgney, Kie25, Super GT and probably Erriesss - I doubt they will have any problems with getting the times. I look forward to seeing Jimmy live stream this though (without having done any practice!) as I am guessing it'll take him a couple of laps. It is more that his streams can be quite funny!

Im not Hamiltons biggest fan by a long shot but this is very, very special. For the leading man in motorsport to endorse and commit to the game in this way can only be positive. The cost is irrelevant, after all the free content we constantly recieve they deserve the money. Count me in!

I know we have Laguna Seca and a couple of VGT cars in the pipeline, but I wonder what this paid DLC means for future content releases going forward. Paid or unpaid?

Honestly, if PD were to start charging for car/track packs, I couldn't be mad at 'em, as they have given this title the red carpet treatment since launch. 2+ years and I still can't get enough of this sexy ass game.

If these time-trials are as challenging as the Vettel challenges in GT5? Hell yeah I'll buy that, it's been ages since I've had a decent challenge in Gran Turismo,

Do you do Sport Mode? Prior to getting bit by the VR sim-racing bug, my play sessions would include at least 2 Sport races, including the qualifying sessions. The ultimate challenge, albeit mentally straining. Or are you strictly referring to offlline content?

I tried to combine the two with a Rift S purchase, and while I really enjoy racing in VR on PC2, GT Sport reeled me back in. The GT formula always gets me - sexy style, sexy presentation, sexy angles, sexy music, sexy everything. Can't wait for GTnext - really hoping I can enjoy some VR Sport Mode races

I'm going to buy it just to show support to PD. I've bought the game for 60€ at launch and I love the way they delivered everything (in terms of content) they promised and I can't wait to see the next chapter. I play once every two weeks but I'll be happy to spend 7€ on this, which could be great fun.

👎 There is only a 'like' button no 'don't like' at the end of posts. I believed this was going to be in the game from the start or if it was to be released later at least it was free like the old vettel and senna challenges. Soooo glad I gave up on this quick match in a shinny box of a game. Rant over back in my cave.

BTW you can attempt to beat RL drivers times in iracing. have met versappen, norris and barrichello all in official races and practice. still trying to beat there times

You're asking them to charge money for tracks and cars? Things that have been free up until now.
It seems some people here are hung up on value, rather than the idea of paid DLC.
Don't forget that cars and tracks cost quite big money between programming and licenses fees.
So I understand more that they make paid DLC packs with cars and tracks instead 10 time trials..

Now, if only Lewis will set lap times at every circuit and PD program the AI according to his lap times. :sly:

Hey, Lewis will even comment voice messages. That's a first for PD. Closest thing to a race engineer. ;)

I can't wait to hear him say "This will help you not to do things that make you look bad"

I'm not intending to join the cyclical arguments going on in this thread, just to say, if you don't want to buy this DLC, you don't have to, and you can still play the rest of the game. If you want to buy it you can. It's your choice, either way you seem to win therefore.

Personally, I won't have time to play it on 28th anyway because I'll be doing the first of my 3m laps and races on Laguna Seca :D. On the same date I will get to try out the new Jaguar VGT and any other new cars that arrive, and run the Spa circuit experience. By the time I've found time for the rest of the November content, I will know more about the Lewis Hamilton DLC anyway and whether I wish to pay for it or not.
