Thanks @MINKIHL. Your car settings for the W08 is a winner. Feels so stable entering and exiting corners...really balanced with top speed and corner speed, allowing the car to attack corner apex without worrying about spinning around the back end.

Did a race at Interlagos to test how the W08 performs around the slow twisty sections. It performed really good, lots of Mojo with the W08 using your setup.

Thanks again @MINKIHL for sharing and showing how it's done.

thank you very much :)

The car is an absolute dog with the stock setup. I made a last lap pass at the Nurburgring to save a hard fought 19th place!

The car will just spin in the lower speed corners if you have even an millimetre too much steering angle on.

I'm hoping the setup mentioned at least makes the car consistent even if it clearly lacks the traction of the real car.

Hi @crooky369, try MINKIHL's car settings, hope it helps

Thanks for that. Improved my fastest lap on mediums of 1:41 to a 1:38.8 this morning which compares ok with your Nürburgring video. The car is still broken though, you should be able to chuck the car into low speed corners but it’s still extremely nervous.

Agreed. If you watch replays of your laps you can see how twitchy the back end is and it’s totally over the top and unrealistic.

A shame, because even with the unrealistic automatic DRS system, it would have been so much fun if they had fixed the back end twitchiness.

So before the Mercedes was even announced to be in GT I was a little in awe of Bottas lap around Interlagos and wanted to see how the cars then in the game compared. These were my times.

Guess where the W08 in GT Sport fits into this leaderboard bearing in mind the real car did a 1:08.3?

God knows. Quite a few slow corners so you’d be lucky to comlete a clean lap

I could only do 1.09:798 at Interlagos. Going to take lots of practice to shave off more than 1 second and get anywhere near Bottas' 1.08:3. Wish we could access 'Party Mode' of the W08 engine.

Another Thank You to MINKIHL for the brilliant W08 setup. Found 3 seconds at Suzuka! Now i just need to find the other 2 haha.

Edit: decided to target Bottas' time of 1.28.5 :-) Hamilton is a freak and that 1.27 looks like Alien territory!

yes hamiltons low 27 is crazy, but with supersofts you can go into 26 with my setup

I really like the feel of this, my best lap around Nürburgring GP is a 1:36.114 so far, not bad for using the Dpad, X, O, R2 & L2

Yeah this car takes a while to get used to.

My fastest car is the old model and point of reference McLaren VGT and the W08 is just outside of my comfort zone.

On a good lap I'm faster than the VGT however I'm giving up heaps of time as my head is always in the GT3 or Group2 or even LMP class so I brake too early and all that learned behaviour.

Also the car has that "spinning out by itself in 2nd gear with 0% throttle" because it doesnt like the road gradient, ie. turn 1 Nurburgring GPF.

I'm on TC1 STM OFF ABS1. Maybe I need to turn up TC.

I dont feel like stability control is doing much for me here.

Got a1:35.878 earlier today, I am now catching up to the leader by the 5th lap at the Ring. I think I’ll try SS next, couldn’t get a clean lap with them before, but now I’m better with this beast.

If anyone's still struggling with this, I have the solution to work around the weird torque glitches, which I think have been mentioned before!

Even with this much improved setup, I was finding there was some really unpredictable behaviour around the Nürburgring hairpin and after a frustrating couple of attempts, my best result was that I had got up to 4th, then spun on the last lap and finished 10th!

I've just had another go using manual transmission but only using 4th to 7th gears and short shifting when the rev indicator was just getting to the top of the bar (TC on, SC off). The result - I took the lead on lap 6 and won with a clear, double-digit margin. You can even take an aggressive line around the first hairpin and use the kerbs. Without really pushing, my Nürburgring GP lap times were consistently around 1:35-1:36 which is plenty fast enough for a win.

Anyone got a good setup for the Red Bull Ring they're willing to share?

I can't get any quicker than a 1:09, but this guy:

has set a 1:05.4 which is insane and just one second off Bottas's real life pole lap.

Turn 2 is just a nightmare for me. I either spin, or take an eternity to get the power down on the exit.

Doh, should have checked here first before trying to drive that mess of a car. It spins out so easily at low speeds at stock settings. I have to take T1 on NGP at 30 kph as 1mm too much movement on the DS4 would mean spin around, Then again on T3, T6 and I rather just skip the final chicane instead of spinning again.

I managed to win on Saint Croix on a second attempt, crawling though the corner before the bridge and the chicane after trying to keep my left thumb as perfectly steady as possible. NGP 4th so far, Suzuka 5th, spun in lap 9, could have had it ugh. I set TCS to 3 hoping that would help, it goes nuts in the U-turn, car hardly moving lol. Is F1 GP wrong or did PD get it wrong, or is the car wrong. So different.

I'll try @MINKIHL's settings, hopefully the car becomes controllable at low speeds.

Hey Sven, it may be tough on the DS4 but if you can keep a little throttle on after braking for turns it really helps to plant the rear of the car. It almost seems like a kart that way, you gotta have power to the rear wheels to make drive thru corners nice. It waskinda easy for me with a wheel, I would imagine it will be tough with the DS4, good luck.

Anyone having any joy around the Red Bull Ring in the Merc? I feel like giving up with this car. I shouldn't have to pick a perfect setup for it to go round a slow corner. The auto-spin around Turn 2 at Austria is just annoying now.

Anyone done better than me?

I watched the Italian GP with great interest yesterday. First, it was cool to see Monza live .

2nd, I paid very close attention to the gears and speed they were going they the chicanes. I saw a couple of guys going around the first chicane in 3rd and the 2nd in 4th.

It was a learning experience, which I took right to the game and ran a few laps with the Merc on Monza. Made a big difference.

Made an account so I could share this with people who actually might be interested in this. Barely made it under 5 minutes.
What do you think? What's your best at Nurburgring Nordschleife with the F1?

Edit: don't care about the sigh at the beginning  I had been driving for a while, and I was getting frustrated that I couldn't beat the 5min barrier.

1.28 made it possible to take the suzuka chikane!

TCS at max but stil, something changed?
The car's handling and ERS deployment were updated with 1.28. It's a joy to drive now.

You should try and get used to as low a TCS setting as possible as it is undeniably quicker.

The car was definitely doing weird things before. Braking into the Suzuka chicane, coasting while turning in in 2nd gear, the manifold pressure would show full vacuum (as it should) during the initial turn but then build up on its own to around zero and kick the tail out just to return to full vacuum again after the car had spun. My best guess is that they tried to model the anti-stall system and got it very wrong.
