Considering that modern F1 cars are so complicated, if PD want and really can design an original F1 car to such detailed extent then they should actually work for an F1 team rather than a game company!

Also, the modern F1 cars are so complicated that almost every Grand Prix has different parts configurations. It's nothing strange that there are some tiny parts different from the photos to the models in game.

So it’s almost certainly a Mercedes F1 as many details are almost identical. It might not be a 100% match as F1 cars do change extremely fast. The car PD had available to scan/model might not be the exact one of which you can (easily) find pictures, maybe different parts were put on deliberately that would normally not work together irl, like different front and rear wing configurations so the car PD would model can’t be used for others to take inspiration from? Although the car is probably old enough, in F1 terms, it doesn’t really matter anymore.

Would the Fórmula GT deserve this 'tease'?

My line of thinking also. 👍 Why tease a car like this unless it isn't from the highest level of motorsport - a championship winning one at that?! A fictional car getting this treatment doesn't make sense to me. The similarities are too close and the Lewis Hamilton connection is there also. No other car from an upcoming dlc has received this treatment and if it was a VGT (which I don't believe it is), they are usually announced that teaser images are to be shown before a full reveal to follow. It doesn't fit in with the VGT way of reveals.

Just wondering: is the all black with black carbon look just to disguise the car rather than put it in the obvious silver if it were the Mercedes, or will it remain like that for licensing reasons with no ability to paint it or add decals? I think I am over thinking it and am more swayed by the former than the latter.

I can. PDI recreated Midfeild and Apricot only to 'forget' both of those in GTS. They licensed the two Ferrari F1's for GT5 only to 'forget' them in GT6. PDI licensed the Jensen Interceptor and Ginetta G4 for GT5 only to 'forget' them in GT6. PDI did a rework of SSR11 for GT3 only to 'forget' it in every game since.

Case in point: PDI are inconsistent and their previous works are no indication of what their future works will entail.

I don't think they've forgotten, I think they want to keep the game fresh and interesting, rather than churning out the same tracks. Also, PD never reworked Special Stage 11. They made a Special Stage Route 7.

Well color me surprised. I was sure they would not include it. Wonder if they will add DRS now that they will add this car. It would be a massive change.

Otherwise I wouldn't look into which exact race this was in. It is probably the one they have as 'exposition' rather than a car used in a race.
