Hello folks
Black Friday is approaching and I do consider to buy a new TV.
I'm leaning towards an LG C Series 77 inch model.
Question to those out here using an Oled.
Is it worth the Money?
I'm currently playing on a 75 inch sony x900h.
I hope some of you might take their time to share your thoughts.
Very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance 😁

I bought LG's C1 in 2021 and so far it has been the best TV I've ever had (or remember having). I've had no burn-in issues and is good for both gaming (Xbox Series X) and streaming/movie watching, and the newer ones are brighter and have more advanced features, so I think you will be OK with that purchase.

Pay attention to the TV specs, regarding 4k and capacities of displaying 120 frames per second, at least.

Other than those specs to keep in mind when getting a new TV now, I have a LG C1 from 2021 like @Nacho Libre and it is very good (but I think it is limited to 4K@100Hz)

For gt7 alone? No, a "normal" led tv would be enough.
If you watch a lot of movies, especially with hdr (dolby vision or hdr10+) then yes
I hope some of you might take their time to share your thoughts.
Look for features like:
  • ALLM (automatic low latency mode, disables a lot of picture processing in the tv)
  • VRR (variable refresh rate, tv adapts the framerate to reduce/eliminate tearing)
For limited space/location: "good" integrated speakers & bluetooth/headphones support
I've had no burn-in issues
After putting the tv into standby it will run a "pixel refresh" program after like 10minutes. It's important to not remove the power in that time!

The HDMI 2.1 ports will carry a 4K/120 Hz signal and the C1 had 4 of those (one being the ARC port). The current C4 models will support 4K@120 Hz for both the PS5 (with VRR) and the Series X. They also have a low latency mode.

About a month ago i bought the LG G4 65 inch. Just incredible. My PS5Pro is now hooked up on that tv and it's just beautiful.
Previously i always had Samsung tv's which are also very good. When i bought the G4 i did my research and i doubted between the G4 and the Samsung S95. So i made the decision this time to buy the tv in a shop rather than order it online. So i could see both tv's perform in real life before ordering one. When i got in to the shop and i saw both tv's my mind was made up instantly. By far the G4 for me.

The main difference between a LG G4 and C4 is the processor. The G4 has the newest one where the C4 has the A9 processor. This is mainly noticable in the OS and the G4 has a little bit higher clarity than the C4. As far as HDMI output, both have 4 slots HDMI 2.1 with a 144hz output. Important to play in 120hz.

The other big difference of course is the price and also: The G4 is only available to hang on the wall, while the C4 you get a stand included.

I have a 77" C3 and it is an absolutely fantastic TV. It can be a bit reflective and I have it in a light controlled environment so if you have a lot of windows and bright light it may not be the best solution but for a home theater/gaming den it is a good choice.

Now that said, i don't use it for GT7 as i have a secondary smaller TV (a 10 year old 40" LCD) for my rig which is much lower quality but I'm in VR anyway, but when I was in 2D, honestly it was still good so you don't NEED an OLED for GT7 but if you are in the market for a new TV, the C3 is good.

Thank you so so much guys.
Much much appreciated for all of your comments and insight on what to keep in mind before buying one.

I was just to a nearby electronic wholesaler and pulled the trigger on the LG 77" C43 LA.
Shot it for 1999€.
Wife approved as she went with me 😁

So Monday it will be delivered...my early Christmas Gift 😀
Wife got her new Kitchen a few days ago, so this was my only chance... It was now or never 😅

Once again thank you all for chiming in.
Stay safe 💪

I currently use TCL Roku TVs in my house and they work just fine for gaming. My 55 inch was like $400? And it wasn't even on sale lol.
Just bought this yesterday. Was $359CAD. Any bugs or bits and pieces that bother to you to be aware of?

Nothing common that I can think of. I've owned or used like 8 different TCL Roku TVs since 2017 and only a single time I had to restart one because it had a graphics/color glitch. Between my friends' and mine, all of these TVs are still working fine and four of them have been gamed on with no issues for years now. The Roku software just seems to work.

For someone considering buying a new tv, I would always say "yes", no conditions applied to make an excuse to save money.
If you can afford it and want something new and shiny, then invest and be happy - only if you have to make sacrifices because the wallet has a limit, then I would rather save up any make the purchase later instead of missing out on the shiny.

Though how everyone is doing this is of course nothing but personal choice.

Hey there,
So today our new TV has finally been delivered.
Not much to say other than we are absolutely blown away 😁

I have a question though which I can already see being most probably a pretty controversial one.
Here we go.
GT7, DTM or HGIG? 🫣😅

Let the religious war begin... 😅

As a little reminder I'm using HGIG in combination with GT7.
I only play in a dark or dimmed room.
To me the game looks ultra realistic and the bright Specular Highlights pop like a Ballon.
Despite DTM which also looks fantastic but just way to bright with clipping in the highest Highlights.
It looks catchy at first sight but to me HGIG just offers the way more pleasant and to my eyes IMHO way more balanced picture overall.

So what are your thoughts?
I hope we can get a constructive yet amusing discussion going on 😀

I don't think you need reassurances from anybody. If to your eye HGIG resolves better the image you want with GT7, that's it. And yes, clipping is not desirable in the brightest highlights, but also the midrange will suffer with extreme contrast.

Would you mind to elaborate what exactly you mean by saying the midrange will suffer with extreme contrast?!
In combination with DTM I suppose?!.

Because I haven't noticed any extremities in GT7 combined with HGIG active.
To my eyes it looks stunning across the whole HDR Range.
No washed out dark scenes, or clipped highlights.

Most likely you will notice that in games that have dark and dim interior areas, as details that are not too bright or dark (hence the midrange) would be crushed in favor of the extremes. In GT I could imagine that being the car's interior view at night. This also matters for quality movie watching.

It's HGIG for the vast majority of games. I recommend RTINGS for the first calibration base, from there you tweak you settings.

Also recommend GamingTech youtube channel, from a german dude wit broken english, he's cool with the HDR settings, according to him, GT7 has one of the very best HDR amongst the gaming industry.

Congrats on the OLED, it's really a different experience!

You're going to love it. I have a 77" LG C3 and OLED is the biggest game changer since we went from SD to 1080p in my opinion. I feel like going from a normal zone-backlit LCD to actual OLED is more significant than the jump from 1080p to 4k.

i agree, ive had an lg 65 inch for about 2 yrs. the black levels are the best imo, it truly gives the rest of the picture justice

General question for the oled users, specifically the lg (g3) folks.

How do you clean it?

I’ve just given it a gentle wipe over the past year with a lens cloth. Its ok. Just wondered what you all do?

Thanks

Skipped all comments to say yeah I don’t regret getting my oled TV when my old one broke. I got the one Kaz recommended though, it was "made for the PS5".

Only downside is my screenshots export as a lot brighter than I see them in-game at times. But other than that I love it.

It’s even got its own Netflix calibrated mode, to view content as it was intended by the makers.

Not sure if you mean "film maker mode" :D
Many of the oled tvs with hdmi 2.1 should have it.
Netflix is compatible with Dolby Vision and LG OLEDs have that picture mode available. There is also a film maker mode and Amazon's Prime Video uses that.

Direct quote from Sony:

The Netflix® calibrated mode on your Android TV™ or Google TV™ device allows you to experience picture quality close to a filmmaker's vision and intent.

So nah what I mean has nothing to do with HDMI, I have no external things hooked up except HDMI, I use the built in TV apps for the rest.

I’m no tv expert I was just saying what my tv has :D custom picture mode tailored specifically for PS5, is the most important one.
