Lincoln Continental: 2016 Revival

So, no one is gonna complain? No one?

End of the world, blasphemy, Anti-USA heritage etc. etc.
Available all-wheel drive.

Seems pretty obvious to me that this car will compete with the Chevrolet Impala, Toyota Avalon, Hyundai Azera, Chrysler 300, etc.

I need to list my thoughts now because I don't think I can put together a coherent paragraph.
  1. Ohh my. That is...very Bentley, but also very good. It stands out, which is what it needs to do.
  2. Continental? No more MK? I approve, but what about the whole 'Bentley Continental' thing...or does that still exist?
  3. Matching color interior opens up a lot of design choices, and I love they put suede on the seats.
  4. Reading the article, if I had been one of the designers, that massive shift from "replace MKZ?" to "Build the next Continental" would unsettle and reset me too.
  5. For the "It rips this from this" crowd, show me one car readily available today that is 100% unique to the industry.
  6. If they made the wheel center a bit bigger those would be great.
  7. @Keef I can confirm that you said this was the way Lincoln needed to go.
  8. One car that I don't think has to be rear-drive, the AWD option is good though.
  9. It's dripping with chrome. I don't care for lots of chrome, but damn this looks good with it.

As long as Lincoln is clear about what the point of the car is supposed to be, I don't think it will matter much about whether or not it is front/all-wheel drive, or rear-drive. They can't jump into the segment and be like, "Hey! We can compete with Cadillac, too!" Let's be honest, there just isn't a market for a high-performance Lincoln at the moment. And while they certainly can offer a more firm setup on a car like this, I don't think people are going to be taking it corner carving with an Audi S8.

Let's just say they toss in the 2.7L EcoBoost V6, give it a standard Haldex AWD unit, that's more than enough for most of the folks who'd buy it. Although I'd definitely like for them to benchmark something like the Acura RLX SH-AWD, something a bit softer seems appropriate. Its shockingly stylish, and flat out, that'll bring people in. Its worked for Buick, it may as well work for Lincoln, too.

Get rid of the concept-y 15-spoke rims and it'd look exquisite.

Do away with the uniform colour scheme? But it's so Lincoln!

Why can't they make these interiors anymore :(

If it makes it into production, I might consider my first American car that I actually want in the future. I really like that.

I'd rather be able to afford dinner for the rest of my life than buy a used Bentley.
Well I want a Jaguar of some kind in all honesty. :3 But in the context of having a Lincoln or Bentley I'd rather have a used Bentley.

I am so glad Lincoln saw the sense to take much of the 2002 Continental concept and put it into this one.

But it still holds a special place in concept history of it's own.

Oh, what could have been...
Yeah, too bad they missed their "Mark". :sly:

The 2002 concept and this monstrosity have nothing in common.

This car is too roundy to be a Conti. It's hideous. Looks like a cheap affordable Bentley.

It's probably just me, but I honestly don't see the resemblance:

The resemblance is quite clear for me, even more-so seeing them both together like that. However, it would be wrong of me to think that others who don't see the similarity, as being in some kind of denial (for want of a better term). Though if i may (slightly off topic), i'd be interested to know what car does this look like/remind people of, who are not seeing any similarity between the Lincoln and Bentley.

You may be blind. It's the same shape with different features.

Why does that Mini have Porsche headlights?

I guess I am, I figured you guys were saying they look exactly alike, which includes things such as the headlights, grill, & etc. If I look at the shape, I think I can see the similarities.

Glad you agree.

--Oh, sorry...

Glad you agree.

Without looking at the grill, I see a bit beefed up Audi before anything else.
